"Let me tell you why I believed her to be my real mate." I paused and pulled up my shirt, then pointed at my arm where the curse mark initially was.
"The curse mark was gone immediately when we met. That girl, Selene, revoked my curse. My mate was the one assigned by the moon goddess to free me from that curse, and she did it. You couldn't, because you aren't my true mate but a fake one manipulated by some fucking spell. Here is my father's letter that explained it all. Read and stay far away from me, or else I will be forced to make you regret ever meeting me!" I threatened menacingly before snatching my bank card, which she was still holding in her hand.
"I didn't use any charms or whatever, I swear. I didn't do any of that. We are mates, and...I..have..no. I....." She tried explaining, but her voice was failing her as she choked, cracking her words as she tried hard not to burst into a cry.
She looked so terrified, and as she stared at my face, I could see the fright in her wet eyes. It was that heart-wrenching fear of losing what you most desired. She felt betrayed, but what she doesn't know is that I was the one who felt it more than her.
It was of no doubt that she must have fallen truly in love with me after starting with her demonic spell, but there was no way I would accept such love that emanated from deceit and dirty tricks. Each time I peered into her face, all I could see was a girl who couldn't respect the moon goddess's decision about the mate bond.
"You are really so desperate and obsessed. It doesn't suit your pretty and innocent face. I never knew you could do something like this. Was it part of your plan to escape from the sufferings you were going through in your pack?" I asked, and she sneered at me, shaking her head sideways.
"You don't even believe me any more. You don't trust me, so there is no need to say anything to you. Just leave!" She moaned sadly, taking a deep breath as she flopped down on the chair, looking away from my face.
"I'm glad you know, and you should really be ashamed of yourself!" I yelled, slamming the desk in frustration.
"I am not ashamed of anything! Dracula, I don't care what anyone has told you or made you believe. Please take back your letter and leave me alone. You just showed me your true colors, and I am glad I knew them earlier. Get out then!" She shouted in a screeching voice, tossing the letter to me before bursting into sobs at the same time as she laid her head on the desk, whimpering beneath.
"Wow, you are trying to push it on me? Despite the fact that your true colors and identity were those of a demon agent, I stood by you. I trusted you and believed all your lies, all because you caught my heart with your charms. Now I've realized the truth, instead of attacking you without mercy, I've been calm and gentle. You are the one to get out of here because your masters are waiting to beat you again for disobedience!" I fired back, and her cries only increased.
"You should fucking stop crying. I haven't even hurt you yet. Perhaps you shouldn't have fallen in love with the man you were sent as a demon agent to harm after stealing his heart. Now I think it's late already. You failed them!" I scoffed and snickered, as everything was actually making sense to me.
Slowly, she pulled her head up and faced me with tears still springing down her cheeks.
"You are worse than everyone I have met in my life. You are such a dick! Maybe I should have really killed you before now! I am not a demon, yet you kept calling me that! Do you know how painful this is?" She breathed and placed her hands on her chest as she took a deep breath.
"Convince me. Oh, sorry, there is no more way to convince me since I already know of your demonic spell, which you had been using to lure me into believing your lies. For real, do you know that our law demands that you have to be beheaded for using that forbidden spell on me? If my father or anyone from my kingdom ever hear of what you did, they won't spare your life. You should be grateful to me that I will be merciful enough to keep my mouth shut." I snorted and hissed, putting on my black long-sleeve shirt that I had pulled off earlier.
"Maybe you should report me to your father. They should behead me since you believe I did this. I don't need your fucking mercy!" She bawled, and I sniggered, buttoning my shirt.
"I won't help you end your suffering. You're a slave, remember? Someone owns you. Maybe you should return to your demon clan because you have failed! Tell them the Lycan prince is waiting for their war. We will see who wins!" I chuckled with a smug look before turning to the door.
"I am wondering when it started. When was the last minute your love for me faded? When was the moment you suddenly felt nothing for me again? Did I do you any wrong? When did the feelings all fade away? We were the new talk of the town a few hours ago—the new couples everyone envied. You came into the class and took me out for breakfast. We ate like lovers and said a lot of romantic words. It was intimate. Then she came. It took less than an hour to fall madly in love with her and hate me with all your heart." She paused and stood to her feet. Her eyes dried up without tears.
"I'm used to pain, but this was the most crushing. I still don't want to believe you've abandoned me. I will give you two days to come back to your senses, and after then, it is over." She retorted bluntly; her face was mean in a way I'd never seen before.
"You are giving me two days? Have you forgotten who I am? Maybe when I punch that face of yours, you will remember." I cackled, but she wasn't moved. She said nothing more as she picked up her bag and walked away from the classroom, past me. Her intoxicating smell of vanilla and cedarwood mixed with jasmine wheezed into my nose and right into my soul like a refreshing breath of life.
I sniffed and averted my gaze, reminding myself that it was all a ruse, even if my heart couldn't accept it. My wolf was just more confused and disoriented than me, as it pulled me to run after her while I struggled to stay back. The smell was really alluring and soothing—goosebumps appeared all over my skin as I shivered under the sensation.
Fuck!
Why does she still have such an effect on me? I thought the love spells and charms would fade away soon. Mother told me that once the secret is known, the charm will stop working. She must have really done a very powerful one on me.
I hissed and walked away, covering my nose gently as I made my way out too.
"We did the right thing?" My wolf asked rhetorically, and silence followed suit. I couldn't say anything, and he wasn't expecting an answer from me. We are both confused too.
"She gave us two days to think about it... What do you have in mind to..."
"Can you shut up if you won't stop talking about that trickster? What other evidence do we need to know that she isn't real? We can't keep such a person!" I shunned at him, and he sighed.
"Then why aren't we reporting her to our kingdom? She committed an abomination!" He retorted, and I felt my heart skip a beat at what he just uttered. The image of her tortured body being forced through a guillotine in front of the villagers while her head was decapitated flashed through my mind, and I felt an intense chill of horror.
My heart began to race as sweat formed on my forehead. I could see in my imagination Ella staring at me with weak eyes clouded with pure hatred and pain, while her messy hair scattered all over her face.
"Gosh!" I broke out of those terrifying imaginations and quickly hurried away. I need to get him quickly and get myself drunk. Maybe attend some club and have a lot of fun to make me forget about her.
For real, I was the one who jilted and broke her heart, and was also going to get drunk to forget about her.
What am I really missing? It was hurting me so much that I made her cry. A girl who had gone through a lot of pain from her family and people she called her own, a beautiful young girl who was marked as a slave at age 18, reducing her to uselessness, She only wanted happiness. She only wanted someone she could trust and feel comfortable with, having no fear, but I had joined others in crushing her heart.
Even if she were a demon, does she deserve this?
Yes, she deserves it.
Demons are cruel and heartless. They are hidden in the cave, waiting for the next time to unleash their wrath. The last time, my Lycan family was their target, and we suffered terribly.
"Then why not fucking kill her? If she is a demon, she won't wait until now to slay you. Don't we see the sincerity and passion in her eyes? We promised to die with her! We were in love, buddy! I seem to be forcing myself to love Selene because she is our mate! Ain't you also feeling this way?!" My wolf howled in a strong tone he had never used on me before.
"What are you insinuating then?" I scoffed, heading over to the gate.
"We are horrified at just the thought of her death. We were pained while hurting her with words. Her sweet smell was the warmth our hearts craved, and when she cried, our hearts seemed to be ripped apart. Don't we think we are making a mistake?" He argued.
"Mistake on what?"
"On who our true mate is!" He shouted, and I hissed.
"You are just being sentimental. We both saw the mark vanish when Selene arrived, and it had been there the entire time we were with Ella. We both smelled Selene's scent as our mate and felt the pull. Stop making a fuss over a demon."
"A demon you couldn't kill? Where has your venomous rage for demons gone? You despise them with your life, but you couldn't even touch, let alone hurt, Ella. We are too powerful to be held down by whatever charm you claim she is using!" He stated his position in an unaltered manner.
"You are trying to say Ella isn't a demon because I couldn't kill her, right?" I asked, and there was no response. I shrugged and waved down a taxi before sliding in after telling him my house address.
I've never been this uncertain in my life.
