My breath hitched with momentary relief.
Victoria Sterling's lips curled into a vicious smirk as she strode toward the door.
"Pathetic gold-digger," she spat, tossing her hair over her shoulder. "Trying to crawl into Mr. Blackwood's bed? I'm just putting trash where it belongs."
The other secretaries clustered in the doorway, their expressions dripping with contempt.
"Mr. Blackwood is way out of her league," one muttered.
Victoria scoffed. "Obviously."
Her gaze raked over me, still crumpled on the floor. "Some people have no dignity."
Trembling, I fumbled for my phone—I needed to call Ethan.
Victoria's eyes darkened.
She lunged, ripping the device from my grasp.
Her breath caught as she flipped it over.
"Disgusting," she hissed. "You even got a matching case?"
The phone shattered against the marble tiles.
"You filthy little—" Her palm cracked across my cheek. Once. Twice. "I was going to let you crawl away, but now?" She grabbed my collar. "You need to hurt to learn."
I hit the ground hard.
"Let's make an example of her," Victoria purred. "Strip her."
The secretaries surged forward.
I scrambled backward, nails scraping tile—
A stiletto heel crushed my wrist.
I screamed.
Hands yanked me up.
Victoria crouched, tilting my chin with a manicured finger. "Pretty face. Don't worry—I'll leave it intact." Her smile turned feral. "Wouldn't want people to miss recognizing you in the photos."
I clutched my stomach, paralyzed.
Scissors flashed. Fabric tore.
Cold air hit bare skin.
"Slut," Victoria breathed. "No wonder you thought you had a chance."
A crowd had gathered. Murmurs rippled.
One woman stepped forward. "Victoria, this is going too far—"
Victoria whirled. "Are you defending her?" Her voice dropped to a whisper. "Against me?"
The woman paled and retreated.
"Wait—she's pregnant!" someone gasped.
Victoria froze.
Then she laughed—a sound like breaking glass.
"Of course," she crooned, stroking my stomach. "A whore and a breeder."
Her grip fisted in my hair.
"Let's see how long that lasts."
My skull cracked against the wall.
"Die," she hissed. "No one takes what's mine."
She dropped me like garbage.
Agony exploded in my abdomen.
I curled inward, gasping—
Then screamed.
"I'M ETHAN BLACKWOOD'S WIFE!"
