"This is the lunchbox that woman brought. It's as cheap as she is."
Victoria sneered, flipping open the container with disgust. "Mr. Blackwood, you can find these in any grocery store. I can't believe security just lets anyone wander into Blackwood Enterprises."
She kept rambling, oblivious to Ethan's expression darkening with every word.
"Victoria, you're just a secretary. You don’t make decisions for this company."
His cold dismissal left her seething long after he walked away.
And she blamed me for it.
"You pathetic little wretch," she hissed, her manicured nails digging into her palms. "Because of you, Mr. Blackwood actually raised his voice at me."
Her gaze dropped to my stomach, a twisted glint flashing in her eyes.
"Would he praise me if I carved that thing out of you?"
I recoiled, staring at her like she was something inhuman.
The baby hadn’t moved since her kick.
My child was gone. My heart was hollow.
And now she wanted to desecrate what little I had left.
I clenched my jaw, forcing myself to stay conscious. To stay alive.
I wouldn’t die before making her pay.
Victoria smirked, tilting her head. "Those eyes of yours—so desperate. Is this how you lured him in?"
She stepped closer, her heels clicking like a countdown.
"But just plucking them out would be too kind." Her voice dropped to a whisper. "No, I’ll make an example of you. Let everyone see what happens to bitches who overstep."
Without warning, she fisted my hair and dragged me from the conference room into the open lobby.
"Look at her!" Victoria’s voice rang out, theatrical and venomous. "This trash thought she could trap Mr. Blackwood with a bastard. But you all know who he belongs to."
She scanned the frozen crowd, relishing their fear. "Today, I’ll show you the price of ambition."
Silence. Not a single breath of protest.
Then her finger snapped toward a trembling figure in the crowd.
"You. Olivia. Come here."
The skinny girl flinched, eyes wide as she shuffled forward.
"I remember you," Victoria purred. "You brought him coffee last week."
Olivia shook her head frantically, but Victoria cut her off, pressing a knife into her hands.
"Stab her. Prove you’re not after my man."
The blade clattered to the floor. Olivia backed away, tears spilling.
"Pathetic." Victoria rolled her eyes before addressing the room. "Any woman who does it earns my favor. Men too—do it, and promotion’s guaranteed."
A few eager hands shot up.
But Sophia stepped forward, voice low. "Victoria, this is too far. If everyone takes a turn, she’ll—"
"She won’t die that easily," Victoria scoffed. "I stabbed her, and she’s still breathing, isn’t she?" A dismissive wave. "And if she does? She came here armed, attacking me. Self-defense, darling."
Her grin turned vicious. "I’ll cry pretty for the cameras. The internet loves a victim." She shoved the knife into Sophia’s grip. "Unless you’re refusing because you want him too?"
Sophia’s hands shook.
The blade gleamed under the fluorescent lights.
