As Jaxon's attention shifted toward him, Henry scrambled to redirect blame, desperately trying to wash his hands of the whole mess.
"Yes, it was all her doing!" Henry babbled, his voice trembling.
"Mr. Rivers, Mrs. Rivers was eight months pregnant—she lied about being six months along so she wouldn't distract you. Ruby knew the truth, so when her water broke, Ruby made me cover it up. She told me to say Mrs. Rivers had just... wet herself.
"Then at the villa, Ruby ordered me to get rid of the baby. She said the Rivers family's firstborn had to be hers—only hers.
"After that, she told me to dispose of Mrs. Rivers' body too. 'No evidence, no problem,' she said.
"Mr. Rivers, I was just following orders! I took the money to stay out of trouble. If you're mad, blame Ruby, not me! Please, just let me go this once—I swear I'll never cross you again!"
Jaxon's fists clenched, then slowly relaxed. A cold smile curled on his lips as he spoke softly, "Let you go? Sure... on one condition."
Henry's eyes lit up with desperate hope. "Anything! I'll do anything!"
Jaxon's voice turned to ice. "Unless... you die."
Before Henry could react, Jaxon gave the signal.
In an instant, a dozen bodyguards stormed in, pummeling Henry senseless—kicks, punches, slaps, even a fruit knife slashing at him. By the end, his ears were gone, his tongue cut out, his limbs hacked off—nothing left but a broken, lifeless husk.
Henry died in agony, drowning in despair.
Once Henry was dealt with, Jaxon sped straight to Ruby's place.
The moment she saw him, Ruby's face lit up. "Jaxon! I knew you'd come back to me—"
SLAP.
Her head snapped to the side, her hand flying to her stinging cheek. Eyes wide, she whimpered, "Jaxon... what did I do?"
Jaxon's glare could've frozen hell. "Drop the act. Henry sang like a canary. I know everything." His voice cracked with fury. "How could you? A pregnant woman—my child—you slaughtered them both!"
Realizing the jig was up, Ruby dropped the innocent act and sneered. "Yeah, it was me. But Olivia brought it on herself! She stole what was mine.
"You were always mine, Jaxon. Olivia was just a placeholder. How dare she think she could keep you? She didn't deserve you!"
Jaxon's eyes burned crimson. He struck her again, then seized her throat, squeezing. "You murderous bitch! You killed them—now I'll kill you and bury you with them!"
Ruby, choking, spat in his face. "You're just as guilty! If you hadn't let me, Olivia would still be alive! You're the real coward here!"
"SHUT UP!" Jaxon roared.
Ruby laughed, blood trickling from her lips. "What's wrong, Jaxon? Can't handle the truth? Pathetic."
Something in him snapped. In a blind rage, he grabbed a kitchen knife and swung—
THWACK.
Blood sprayed. Ruby collapsed without a sound.
Panting, Jaxon dropped the knife, staring at his hands. "Not my fault... you made me do this."
He changed clothes, fled the scene, and drove like a madman to the crematorium.
"Where are Olivia's ashes?" he demanded, grabbing a worker's arm.
The man blinked. "Uh... we scattered them, like you said."
Jaxon's breath hitched. "Her belongings, then. You told me to collect them!"
"Tossed 'em out."
"THAT WAS MY WIFE!" Jaxon exploded. "WHO THE HELL TOLD YOU TO DO THAT?!"
The worker shot him a look. "...You did. Over the phone."
Jaxon froze. He remembered now—his own cold order to discard everything.
Devastated, he dropped to his knees, frantically digging through nearby trash bins, searching for any trace of her. But the garbage had already been hauled away.
Defeated, he crumpled, slapping himself over and over. "I'm sorry, Olivia... God, I'm sorry. I trusted the wrong person. I killed you and our baby with my own hands. Then I let them throw you away like trash... I'm a monster."
I watched his breakdown with icy detachment. Too little, too late. I didn't care anymore.
"Olivia, I failed you in this life. If there's a next one, I'll love you right—"
With that, he lunged headfirst into the wall.
CRACK.
Blood gushed. A few spasms, and he was gone.
The second Jaxon died, I felt my spirit loosen—I could move freely now.
As I turned toward heaven, ready to move on, a voice called out behind me.
"Olivia! Wait!"
Jaxon's ghost stood there, desperate. "Please... forgive me. Give me another chance."
I scoffed, shoving him back. "Never. Not for me, and not for our child. You're dead to me, Jaxon. We're done."
Without another glance, I stepped into the light.
Above me, the clouds parted. Flowers bloomed.
My new life was just beginning.
