Ruby's voice trembled, raw with heartbreak.
But Jaxon remained ice-cold, his face unreadable.
"Ruby, I can't keep saving you."
His words were sharp, final.
"Find someone else to play your games. I'm done."
11:40 PM.
"I have a wife. A child."
He turned away, already moving.
"Get some rest. I need to check on Olivia at Beaconridge."
"Jaxon—"
Ruby reached out, but he was already gone.
The hospital lights buzzed overhead as Jaxon stormed inside. He grabbed the first nurse he saw.
"Olivia Rivers—which room is she in?"
The nurse blinked, confused.
"Sorry, Mr. Rivers... we don't have a patient by that name. Are you sure you're at the right hospital?"
Jaxon's breath hitched.
"That's impossible. She was just here—in labor—"
Then, a slow, bitter smirk twisted his lips.
"Ah. I see. Olivia hired you, didn't she?"
He leaned in, voice dropping to a dangerous whisper.
"Name your price. I'll double it. Just take me to her."
The nurse recoiled, offended.
"Excuse me? I don't know what kind of game you're playing, but there is no Olivia here."
To prove it, she pulled up the records—flipping through page after page. Nothing.
Jaxon's blood ran cold.
Something was very wrong.
He fumbled for his phone, dialing Henry—but no answer.
Then—a call.
"Henry, what the hell? You said she was at Beaconridge! There's no—"
A stranger's voice cut him off.
"Are you Olivia's next of kin? This is the crematorium. The deceased has been processed. You'll need to collect her belongings."
The world stopped.
