"Yes, I'll drive it away directly."
I got into the car but didn't immediately start the engine. Gripping the steering wheel, my heart felt conflicted.
I had a driver's license and had driven plenty over the past three years, but always Ferris's cars.
The purpose of driving wasn't for myself, but to conveniently pick up Ferris when he got drunk at business dinners—one call from him and I had to immediately go to whatever bar or restaurant to get him.
I had also heard Ferris's friends mention that when he broke up with his previous girlfriend, he casually gave her a Panamera worth over a million.
It’s obvious whether you love someone or not.
I was lost in thought when I suddenly heard an exclamation.
"Wow! This car is so beautiful! I wanted to buy this car before but couldn't bring myself to spend the money." It was Ashley's voice.
Through the car window, I saw Ashley and Ferris in the distance.
The two were walking toward the car.
Ashley hadn't expected to see the glacier blue Maserati she'd dreamed of here—this was a car she'd wanted for so long but couldn't order!
Seeing this car, she made no attempt to hide her love for it, walking up to touch it repeatedly, looking reluctant to let go.
"Ferris, help me take a photo."
Ashley stood beside the car, using the window as a mirror to fix her hair.
The car's windows had one-way glass—you could see out from inside, but people outside couldn't see in.
I sat in the driver's seat, turning my head to look at Ashley.
Just as Ashley was absorbed in checking her reflection, I rolled down the window, making eye contact with her.
"Hello." I smiled and greeted her.
Ashley froze.
"Aurora, why is it you?" Ashley's expression was like she'd seen a ghost.
At this moment, Ferris also walked to the car.
Seeing me inside, he frowned: "What are you doing here?"
Then he said with disgust: "Did you follow me?"
He didn't even ask—he just assumed I had followed him here.
Ashley recovered, adjusting her expression to show a mocking smile: "Aurora, you'd better get out of the car quickly. Do you know how much this car costs? If you damage it, Ferris will have to pay for the repairs."
Ferris's frown deepened: "Get out."
"No."
I drew out the syllable, responding to her: "Didn't you want to take photos just now? Should I let you borrow it for photos?"
"No need." Ashley's face darkened. "Besides, what's this about borrowing? This isn't your car anyway!"
Just as Ashley finished speaking, the mocking smile still on her face, I raised my hand and pressed the start button on the central console. The Maserati responded with a "beep," the lights flashed, and the doors locked.
