Adrian looked at Ferris with an expression that was almost pitiful, yet seemed to suppress anger.
"Stop flaunting how you've hurt her. You lost her long ago; you just refuse to admit it."
These words hit Ferris's chest like a heavy hammer, a trace of violence flashing in his eyes: "I will keep her."
"How?" Adrian looked at him, a hint of mockery in his brow: "Through cold violence, or those self-righteous little games that satisfy your need for control?"
Ferris didn't answer, his chest heaving violently.
After a moment, Adrian suddenly restrained his emotions and asked calmly: "Do you know who I am?"
Ferris frowned.
Adrian spoke a sentence that was like a thunderbolt:
"I am Aurora's fiancé, betrothed to her since childhood."
Ferris jerked in shock, the color draining from his face instantly.
Adrian's gaze was calm as still water: "She was the she-wolf who should have become my mate, but when she met you while working as a healer in the war zone, she was willing to risk her life to become your mate instead."
"But now the situation is different. She hates you and wants to leave you."
"For this, I should thank you for giving me a second chance."
Ferris's face stiffened: "What nonsense are you spouting? Aurora and I first met at the bonding ceremony. When did we ever meet in a war zone?"
Hearing this, Adrian was completely stunned, as if a key piece of the puzzle had finally fallen into place.
He stared at Ferris, disbelief floating in his eyes: "You really don't know."
Ferris frowned, his tone impatient: "I don't know what? Stop beating around the bush."
Adrian took half a step back, looking at him as if reassessing a person: "You think you were able to hold the front lines until that war ended because of your naturally strong recovery ability?"
"You think you survived that near-death injury through medication and self-healing?"
Ferris's expression suddenly darkened: "What exactly are you trying to say?"
In that moment, Adrian was certain that Ferris didn't know about Aurora donating bone marrow to him.
Ferris seemed to be suppressing a belly full of irritation, saying coldly: "Let me tell you the truth. I did encounter a notorious attack on the battlefield front lines. It was Ashley who saved me—she was the registered donor in the medical team."
"Ashley is my savior. When I was severely injured and unconscious, I once swore to repay the person who saved me with everything I had, which is why I treat her so well. Aurora is too immature, always making a fuss with me about this."
"This time I just wanted her to calm down, teach her a lesson, let her reflect clearly. If she really cares about me, what's wrong with waiting one night?"
Adrian's fingertips tightened, his voice ice-cold: "You said... you just wanted to 'teach her a lesson'?"
Ferris frowned, sensing the dangerous undertone in the other's voice, but remained dismissive: "She's my Luna. She should be obedient and docile, not repeatedly challenge me."
