My breath caught in my throat as the horrifying truth slammed into me.
Vincent Roland had married me—not out of love, but as part of some sick scheme to drag me overseas... just to carve out my kidneys for his precious Sophia Valentine?
"So this whole marriage... was just a trap?" My voice trembled, hot tears spilling down my cheeks. "You brought me here to butcher me for her?"
Vincent had the audacity to look pained, his gaze drifting upward like some tragic hero. He even swiped at a fake tear.
"Your blood type was the only match," he said, as if that excused anything. "What choice did I have?"
The door burst open before I could scream. A team of medical staff marched in, followed by a breathtaking woman in a wheelchair—Sophia Valentine herself.
Vincent lit up like a damn Christmas tree. "Sophia! You're going to be okay—just hold on a little longer!"
So this was the legendary first love.
And then it hit me—I knew her.
That ring on her finger? Mine. The custom-designed one Vincent had stolen from me.
All this time, he'd been planning to spend his life with her... right after sacrificing me to keep her alive.
Because Sophia had kidney failure.
And apparently, my organs were up for grabs.
A doctor shoved papers into Vincent's hands. "Sign here, Mr. Roland. We need to move quickly."
Vincent barely looked, scribbling his name without hesitation.
I squeezed my eyes shut, choking on my own sobs.
Then—
"Restrain him."
Sophia's icy voice cut through the room.
Vincent barely had time to blink before the medical team twisted his arms behind his back.
"What the hell, Sophia?!" he roared, face twisting in fury. "I gave up my wife for you! This was all for you!"
Sophia's laugh sent chills down my spine.
She rose from the wheelchair, her eyes burning with something darker than vengeance.
"Look closer, Vincent. Do you even know who I am?"
