Violent gushes of wind blew through Tweek's tangled hair as he stood over Kenny, leaning over the boy who laid among the twigs and soil, still in pain from being kicked. Kyle's profanities muffled out as background noise. It had taken only a few moments before the redhead started going off on everyone, calling them out for their terrible catching skills, whilst Stan tried his best to calm his friend down, but Eric was by his side taunting him the entire time.
"Are you okay?" Tweek asked, dropping to his knees beside Kenny. The dampness of the ground seeped into the material of his jeans, and his eyes followed where Kenny's hand was trying to soothe the pain, before quickly averting away upon realising exactly where he'd been hit. At least Tweek's cheeks that were flushing with embarrassment were thankfully hidden by the darkness.
"Mhm." Kenny hummed, with his eyes closing momentarily. "I'm probably sterile now."
"I think you're being a little dramatic." Tweek said. A small smile found his lips when Kenny lifted his head up slightly to scowl at him.
"I'm hurt. I'm allowed to be a little dramatic." He complained, dropping his head back down, whilst staring up at Tweek, the slight crinkles on his forehead hidden away by the shadows.
"Fucking hell Stan! Stop touching it." Kyle hissed behind them. He was propped up against the tree, with his legs outstretched across the ground as his head rested against the old bark. His squinted eyes glared at his best friend, who was sat beside him, trying to get a look at his shoulder.
"I'm trying to help you!"
"I need a fucking doctor, not a heavy handed jock." Kyle slapped Stan's hand away.
"Are you lot going to stay down there like a bunch of whiny shit stains, or can we get going?" Eric drawled. His elevated mood hadn't lasted long after his battery ran out halfway through admiring the pictures he'd taken. He was growing tired of standing around. It was late, and now that the fun was over, he wanted nothing more then to go home.
The others didn't look as though they were going to be moving anytime soon. They all just stared up at him in annoyance, their shadowy figures disturbed by the night. Eric tutted behind his teeth, with his eyes rolling as he spun on his heal, making a print in the dirt beneath his shoe.
"Where're you going, Cartman?" Stan sighed. "It's too dark to wander off on your own."
"I'll meet you ladies back at the car."
"You don't even know where we're parked!"
An eerie silence met the air. The calm before a storm. Kyle could sense it, and so could Tweek. Cautious eyes roamed the area, but there was nothing, just the darkness and the swaying trees, long branches that reached out like skeleton arms. Eric was oblivious though, standing tall, with his nose upturned as he stared at the group with disgust.
"I'll be waiting at the sign." His voice muffled in the wind as he turned around. Tweek startled when he heard a creaky sort of noise somewhere behind them. His head whipped around with widened eyes in hopes that would somehow help him see, but still there was nothing there, only Eric's irritating voice droning on in front of him.
He ducked down closer to Kenny out of instinct when he heard another noise, similar to the other, only making a whooshing sound straight after. Kenny gasped lightly when Tweek's head dropped to his, their hair messing together as Tweek shielded him, but before anything could be said, something flew through the air, passing them with a speed that Tweek was almost positive had only just missed him.
"Huh." Eric said unsurely, twisting his head to look down at the arrow sticking out of his left ass cheek. He was frozen with shock, his mouth agape as his fingers twanged at the metal arrow, which would've hurt a lot more if he wasn't about to pass out.
The other four paused, eyes wide in fear as they gawped at Eric. It seemed nobody could find their voices until the sound that Tweek had heard previously returned, but this time, they all heard it, and like hell was they sitting around to see who's ass was next.
Kenny seemed to recover quickly, shooting up from the ground to stand in a crouched position, with his fingers tightly wrapping around Tweek's forearm as he dragged him behind the tree Stan and Kyle were behind. "Cartman! Move!" Kyle shouted, hastily.
His words seemed to pull the boy from his trance. Eric's brown eyes found his friends in the dark, before allowing his feet to stumble over to them, however he didn't get very far, with his foot hooking itself under a tree root which sent him crashing to the ground. Strangely enough, It seemed as though his guardian angel had been watching over him, since just seconds later, another arrow was sent his way, which would've impaled him if he hadn't tripped up.
"What the fuck is happening!" He cried out, laying on his stomach, propped up by his elbows as he looked out to try and see their attacker. He couldn't see anything though. What was he expecting? It was pitch dark. The fall had caused him to get a face full of dirt. He could taste it, he could taste every muddy shoe that left its print, every faeces droppings left behind, and every worm that had ever wriggled through the soil. He was too repulsed to have even seen Kenny racing over to him, only until an arm was hooked under his, grating harshly against his armpit to drag him over to the others. He would've complained about how brutally the blonde tossed him into cover, yet the adrenaline wouldn't allow his mind to comprehend the situation properly.
"We need to move!" Stan said, his breathing ragged as he desperately looked to his friends.
"Like hell I'm moving." Eric snapped.
"Do you want to get killed by yourself?" Stan argued. He was already trying to pull Kyle up, his priorities being the redhead, who bit his lip to get through the pain. "Cause if you stay here, that's exactly what's going to happen."
Eric grumbled, but said nothing else on the matter. His eyes found the arrow hanging from his butt cheek that had gone numb, and even though he couldn't see it, he could feel the pool of blood soaking his pants. "Get this thing out of my ass first!"
"No!" Kenny dragged Eric's hand away from the arrow. He was positive he'd heard the lump have the audacity to growl at him. "You'll bleed out if you remove it."
"I'll bleed out anyway!"
"Not as fast." Kyle added. He leaned into Stan, frightened when he heard some rustling. "We need to go, like right now." He wasn't exactly sure why he was whispering, considering whatever crazy lunatic that was after them already knew they were there.
"Okay, spread out and run like hell. That son of a bitch can't get us all." Eric ordered, already looking into the direction he was going to go. "Everyone cover me though. I'm already hurt."
"We're not shielding you with our bodies." Kenny frowned.
"It's called taking one for the team."
"Now I remember why I stopped hanging around with you guys."
"You're not a team player, Tweek." Eric accused. "Let's go."
Nobody needed to be told twice. Stan helped Kyle as they ran through the trees, going from cover to cover, and unknowingly getting further from the others as the descended into the night. Kenny had pushed Tweek out from behind the tree and into the direction of Stan's car, following close behind, whilst Eric hobbled just in front of them.
Tweek's breathing was too heavy, weighing down his pained chest as he frantically ran. His legs felt like jelly as he chased after Eric. There was too many trees though, and Stan's car was nowhere near them. It was next to the small dock at the other end of the lake. He couldn't see, but he knew the hunter wasn't far behind with the odd arrow that would skim past them. Clearly whoever it was out there wasn't a good shot. He could hear Kenny breathing behind him, only he seemed more collected than both Tweek and Eric.
But Eric couldn't run anymore, letting out a tired sob as he ducked behind a tree, leaning his shoulder against it as he watched Tweek run past him. The blonde skidded into a halt, dragging Kenny behind the tree nearest to Eric's. Kenny had pushed Tweek against the trunk, the bark scraping against the palm of his cold hands at either side of Tweek's head as he used his own body as a shield, panting for air and blowing Tweek's hair as he did so.
Tweek couldn't catch his breath though. He was almost certain he was going to have a panic attack if they didn't get out of there soon, but now that they stopped, he wasn't sure if his legs would move again. His anxious state had caused them to tense up to the point he felt a stiff pain, and it was only going to worsen the more he moved.
Kenny began breathing through his nose, steadying himself as he watched the ground, as much as he could with the close proximity between him and Tweek. They couldn't move though. They'd surely get shot if the hunter saw an arm or leg poking out. Tweek knew that, and so did Kenny.
Tweek looked to Kenny who slowly lifted his stare, their eyes meeting and somehow, despite their current situation, it brought Tweek a sense of relief.
"Are you hurt?" Kenny whispered. Tweek shook his head and glanced in the direction Eric was in. He couldn't see him though, he couldn't even hear their attacker until a twig snapped just off to their right, causing the pair of them to still. Tweek couldn't control his breathing, so Kenny improvised by slapping his hand over Tweek's mouth, ignoring the scowl directed his way.
Tweek tried to look down at the hand silencing himself. He tried to focus on Kenny's presence, whilst he tried to control his breathing. Luckily enough, his nose didn't make much of a noise. More leaves crunched, closer than before, and Tweek subconsciously found himself worrying for Eric. His eyes closed, hearing the heavy breathing not far in front, with clinking boots hitting the ground with unnecessary force with every large step the person took. As whoever it was approached, Tweek shakily exhaled through his nose, stilling as much as possible out of fear and anticipation.
