There was little success in squeezing his eyes shut, along with squeezing Craig tightly during their hug, in hopes of inspiring some lost memories. He was extremely comfortable though, and wondered if hugging Craig had always made him feel this way.
Still a little stunned, Craig froze in place, like a statue being consumed by this precious being. He had no idea what was happening, or why he felt so weird, but he also hadn't known how much he needed someone to comfort him until now.
He could feel Tweek's arms loosing their strength after a while, only to return seconds later, squeezing him with a force as though he were a piece soap about to slip out of his hands in the shower. He was imagining what someone would think if they were to walk in on them right now, and though a big part of him cared about being seen, a much smaller part of him wanted to experience the moment a little longer.
Hesitantly, Craig patted Tweek's back in a way that was supposed to say 'times up, let's go,' but then Tweek pressed his head against Craig's shoulder, and in that moment he couldn't think about anything other than how close he'd been to losing his best friend in the accident.
There was a chance that Tweek hadn't woken up that night, a chance that he may have never woken up at all, but he was here, right here, and for that, Craig hugged him back. He relaxed a little, with his arms wrapping around his friend, letting his head rest on the top of Tweek's hair as he sighed.
Something in the way Tweek and Craig still managed too stick together, even despite Tweek's amnesia, made the both of them appreciate the other even more. They were always going to have each other through out their lives, and there was a sense of comfort in knowing that.
It wasn't often Craig hugged anyone, and maybe if he did some more, he wouldn't bottle his emotions up inside so much. He felt a wave of loneliness and uncertainty throughout Tweek's consoling embrace, and though he hated experiencing more than one feeling at a time, when Tweek pulled away, he felt mentally lifted.
It was like a release, to have someone to share this negativity with and to get it off his chest. With the moment over, the awkwardness flooded into the room as Craig played with the ends of his hat to escape the tension. Tweek was watching him with a look in his eye that Craig didn't recognise, and so he avoided his stare, clearing his throat as he looked to the rolled up tissue still covered with blood, clutched into his closed palm.
"What was that about?" He wearily asked, while tossing the tissue into the toilet.
"I don't know, I just wanted to hug you." Tweek confessed. "Do you remember playing at a pond?"
"Starks pond? We used to play there all the time." Craig frowned. "Why?"
"I just- I thought I remembered something."
"Really?"
"It was iced over and you were failing to skate."
For a moment, Craig just stared back in confusion as he tried to think of any time that may have happened, and for now, he came up with nothing. "I have no idea," He shrugged. "We spent almost everyday there when we were younger."
Feeling disappointed, Tweek chewed the inside of his lip as he looked towards the bathroom door. He would've loved to have heard about the rest of that memory, and to have heard it from Craig would've confirmed Tweek's mind wasn't as useless as he was beginning to think it was.
The shortest time passed as he just stared at his hand resting on the door handle. He wanted to stay here all night, locked up in this tiny bathroom with Craig, a nobody else. He wanted to take ahold of Craig's head and shake it until he recalled the memory Tweek had, but he also wanted to just sit in silence and share his presence. Little did he know, Craig was beginning to think similarly. The only thing Craig would change, was their scenery. He wasn't partially pleased with having a toilet sneaking into his view every ten seconds, and the image of Jimmy using it plagued his mind.
"Why'd you come up here?" Tweek queried. His hand was still placed upon the handle, but his gaze moved over to Craig. "When you knocked, you knew I was in here."
"I wanted to make sure you were okay." Craig's responded. His voice confused Tweek. He sounded bored, though his words were caring. Not only his voice confused the blonde, but also the lack of emotion or even facial expressions he would show.
"Why?"
"Because, you're my friend?"
"Am I?"
"What do you mean?"
Tweek wasn't entirely sure what he meant, he just had this weird feeling, an indescribable one that left him endlessly confused. "I don't know." He groaned as he opened the bathroom door. "I'm just still a little confused about everything."
The both of them stepped out into the hallway, though they barely moved from the bathroom, and as Craig stood beside Tweek, he found himself examining the boring walls, rather than paying attention to the blonde. He wasn't sure if the right thing to do was to tell Tweek their current situation. He wasn't sure if he should selfishly spend this time having his friend back, or to confront the inevitable. Then again, how's he supposed to know whether or not Tweek would believe him if he said, 'you like me,' and if he didn't, Craig would've only made things more awkward between them.
"What would make you less confused?"
Shrugging his shoulders, Tweek drew in a shaky breath. He slowly walked towards the stairs, with Craig following closely behind, though once he reached the top step, he paused as he looked down towards the lit doorway. "You could start by telling me things, and I don't mean taking me to where I scraped my knee one time. I want to know what's happening currently."
"I can do that, just not tonight." Craig said.
"Why not tonight?"
"If I'm going to tell you what's going on, it's going to take a while."
When they eventually made it back to the others, there were a few new additions to the team. David had arrived, and was waiting for Kyle and Stoley's current game to finish so he could be dealt in, and since Thomas couldn't make it, Butters had been a last minute invite. He was quiet, but still looked so excited as he watched the others messing around with the plastic guitars.
Nobody payed any attention when Craig and Tweek came strolling into the room, and since there were no spaces left on the couch, the two of them sat on the carpet with their backs pressed against the chair. Craig could see Tweek twitching beside him, he guessed it was all the noise the other guys were making, and so he suggested they put on a movie.
"Thank fucking god." Eric called from one side of the room. He'd been increasingly growing bored, but once he realised which movie Stoley was about to put on, he knew it was only going to get worse from here on out. He debated leaving, but he figured it wouldn't be fair on the others not to experience his gracious presence.
The lights were switched off, and everybody stopped what they were doing to find a place to watch the screen. When Jimmy realised there were no snacks, he nudged Clyde to help him out, despite him not being the best candidate. The pair of them spilled popcorn and all sorts onto the ground, snickering to themselves as they clumsily carried them back to the group.
Hushed whispers and mumbling took place as the Star Wars introduction rolled, and though half were displeased with the movie selection, the other half were looking forward to a throwback night. Tweek was yet to settle in place, with his fingers curling around the warn out sleeve of his jackets as he chewed on his lip.
He found the floor uncomfortable, even after Craig had yanked a couple of pillows from behind Stan and Butters. The television flickered from dark to light, eliminating each of their faces, some who were stuffing them with popcorn. On the couch, behind where Craig was leaning against, Stoley and Kyle hummed the theme song in sync, ignoring the unamused look sent there way by Eric.
Throughout the movie, Tweek chewed anxiously on his nails. Craig found it hard to become submerged by the movie, and instead spent most of the time watching Tweek beside him. Despite not knowing the agony Tweek went through by living with the stress of anxiety, day after day, Craig understood there were little things he could do to help, even the smallest amount.
He subtly checked behind him, seeing Eric asleep with his head resting on the arm of the chair, while Token and Stan's faces were lightly lit up from the screens of their phones. Other than that, the other guys were focused on the television screen, and so Craig looked back over to Tweek who was idly watching too.
With the stealth of an assassin, Craig's pointer finger crept over to Tweek, where he gently wiggled it against his arm. The action made Tweek flinch a little, with a small sound of surprise escaping his lips as he looked to what was touching him. Once he noticed the long finger waiting on stand by, he glanced to Craig unsurely, though his eyes were set on the screen ahead.
Their shoulders were barely touching, and there was no way anyone else could see, but even so, Tweek cautiously checked behind him, then, with the slowness of a snail, the tip of his finger touched the end of Craig's.
The moment they touched, Craig looked down as their fingers made a bride between them. He watched as Tweek's breathing eventually evened out, and continued to watch when the blonde took ahold of his finger, enclosing it in the palm of his hand the way a baby would.
They sat like that throughout the movie, drawing no attention towards themselves what-so-ever, and every now and then, Tweek would gently squeeze Craig's finger, not only bringing a sense of comfort to himself, but also to Craig.
