The street lights led the way to Tweek's house during the dark hours of a late afternoon. Craig tiredly trailed along, behind his sister and Izzy as they quietly laughed amongst themselves. Now that he was out in the open air, Craig was regretting his decision to go ahead with Ruby's plan.
Still, he followed, with his hands tucked into his pockets. His face was cold and achy, and he continuously had to sniff to prevent a trail of snot from exiting his nose. He wasn't the only one, though. All three of them took turns in sniffing throughout their journey.
From the back, Craig could hear his sister and her friend talking about how their other friends would be coming over soon, and how they had to hurry. Craig wasn't in a hurry though, rather, he was far from it. He was happy to take his time, because the thought of seeing Tweek after a month of being ignored was making him feel anxious.
Still not fully aware of what he'd done to deserve this, Craig was left to think about all of the things he could've done wrong. He knew it had something to do with the day Tweek left his house in a rush, and he knew it had something to do with his own obliviousness towards the situation.
That day, Tweek had thought they were going to talk about their near kiss the night before, so when he realised that wasn't what Craig had meant, he no doubt felt entirely embarrassed. Still, that didn't explain why he'd blanked Craig for a month. It didn't explain why he refused to talk to him.
The whole situation made Craig's head hurt with stress. He was never good in these situations, and he needed people to tell him what he'd done wrong, so that he could fix it. During the past month, Craig had discussed his problems with both Clyde and Token. Even they had said it was unusual for Tweek, and even they were being ignored.
This only fuelled Craig's desire to talk to his best friend, and to figure out what was going on, once and for all. As he walked the dark streets, with Ruby and Izzy's voices trailing by his barely listening ears, he thought about what he was going to say to Tweek. He'd thought about it so many times this past month, but now it was actually going to happen, he couldn't find the appropriate words.
They stopped outside Tweek's house, with all three of them remaining quiet, whispering in hushed voices. Ruby lead them over to a bush, where she crouched down to waved the both of them into a somewhat squad huddle. Rather than following her request, Craig decided to stand beside them with a raised eyebrow.
"Get down, Craig!" Ruby whispered. "You're going to compromise our position."
"Nobody's here."
"You don't know that. All it takes is for someone to look out of the window."
Rolling his eyes in defeat, Craig complied by crouching down, along side the two younger girls. He knew this was just a game to them, and so long as they don't ruin his chance to speak to Tweek, he didn't care.
"Okay so," Ruby began, looking both Craig and Izzy in the eye as she spoke. "There should be a small ledge on the side of the house. I think it leads to the bathroom but you'll figure that out once you're inside."
"And how do you expect me to get up there?"
"Me and Izzy will boost you up."
Their valiant efforts were far from amusing Craig. He frowned at his sister for the longest moment, whilst she stared back with determination. During this time, Izzy had scouted the side of the house, finding the similar ledge to Millie's house. She waved both the siblings over, disrupting their staring competition.
As they crowded around, each gazing upwards, Izzy hummed to herself in recognition. "It's higher than Millie's."
"It's fine." Ruby dismissed. "We can do this."
When Ruby interlocked her hands as a step for Craig to stand on, Izzy copied, with her shoulder resting against the wall. Craig stared at their waiting hands, knowing this wasn't going to go well, but with a prolonged exhale, he placed his right foot into his sisters hands.
For a moment, he stayed still, trying to figure out where to go from there, and after seeing an indent in the wall that he may be able to grip onto, his other giant hand balanced himself by resting on top of Ruby's head.
She grunted under the weight, and Izzy scooted closer as reinforcement. Soon Craig's other foot was pressing down into her hand as well, and as she fought to keep him up, her face turned red.
When the girls were just about to drop their support, Craig managed to get ahold of the ledge and pull himself up, though not before accidentally kicking his sister in the head. He'd peered over the edge to make sure she was okay, and by the looks of it, she was. Not to say she wasn't amused.
From on the ledge, Craig wasn't too high up, but still, he felt completely off balance. He slowly edged closer to the small window, which most likely lead to the bathroom, but of course, when he tried to open it, it was locked.
Closing his eyes for a split second in frustration, Craig's jaw tensed. He peered back over the edge to his sister and Izzy, who were both crouched in a bush not far away. "It's locked, idiots."
"Figures," Ruby replied, scratching her head in thought. "Try climbing across to another window."
"There's no other way."
"There is, you've just got to try." Ruby insisted. She emerged from the bush she hid in to examine another route, all the while, Izzy and Craig watched from their positions. "Here, look!" Ruby pointed to a vine ladder that grew up the side of the house.
"It'll snap..."
"Does it look like you have another choice?"
She was right, there was no other choice. Then again, as Craig examined the long vines that were imbedded closely to the wall, he guessed he'd last a second on there. Still, he was desperate to see Tweek, and so he reached over, taking ahold of the matted vine that refused to come loose from its place.
The over grown plant was thick, though Craig doubted it would be sturdy enough to take his weight. He gave it a little tug, then before he had the chance to back out, made a leap for it. On impact, vines snapped in every direction, some jabbing him in the eye as he slid down violently.
From below, Ruby covered her mouth. Not in worry, but to muffle her laughter as she watched her brother completely fail. Craig's hands were sore, but he refused to relinquish his hold that kept him barely off the ground.
All the commotion had attracted the attention from within the house, and as a light flickered on inside the nearest window, both Ruby and Izzy gasped. They made a run for it, leaving Craig tangled up in the vines as they giggled over their wish of good luck.
The window slowly opened, and as Craig tried to free himself, the top of Tweek's head appeared as he peeked out cautiously. He watched in silence and confusion for a moment as Craig wriggled to freedom. "What're you doing?"
Casually glancing up, Craig brushed the remaining leaves from his hair. "I- um..." But he couldn't find a reasonable explanation for his actions.
Rolling his eyes, Tweek was midway closing the window before Craig called out. "Wait!"
"What?"
"I need to talk to you." Craig pleaded, watching as Tweek's hair blew around from the wind. "Please."
"So talk."
"Can I come inside?" Craig asked. "It's cold out here."
"Mm, no." Tweek shook his head. "I'm busy."
"With what?"
"That isn't any of your business."
"You're not busy, are you?" Craig drawled. "I won't stay long, just please, can I come in?"
The window closed so suddenly that Craig was left to stare at it for a second after. He watched as the light turned off from inside, and he was left to think that Tweek had shut him out, once again.
With a deflated sigh, he looked down towards his scuffed shoes, but then the clearing of someone's throat caused him to look up, seeing Tweek stood in the darkness as he waited for Craig to come inside. With each slow step Craig took towards the blonde, he mentally thought about how he was going to get his second chance.
