Yosef, staring at her intently, asked, "What's wrong?"
Skylar could not detect anything unusual in Yosef's expression. 'Am I just overthinking?' She could not help but doubt herself and wondered.
As she lowered her head, emotion surged in Yosef's eyes. "Okay." As Skylar finished buttoning up, her fingertips quivered slightly, and a flush of warmth spread through her body.
Yosef said, smiling faintly, "Thanks, Skylar."
Skylar responded softly, "You're welcome." She then turned away, sitting on the bed with unease.
Yosef began to ask Skylar for favors. "Skylar, could you help me blow-dry my hair?" he called out.
"Skylar, please help me with my tie," he said.
"Skylar, could you please...?"
Whenever Skylar closed her eyes, Yosef's voice would echo in her mind, calling her over and over again.
She opened her eyes, feeling irritated. She finally fell asleep but still dreamed of Yosef bossing her around. He was even more shameless in the dream.
Yosef even shamelessly asked Skylar to help him put on his pants. Feeling embarrassed, Skylar refused to help him.
Yosef immediately put on a pathetic act. He cradled his injured hand, pretending to manage on his own, not to trouble her. However, he fumbled awkwardly with his left hand and failed to do it.
Skylar could not take it any longer. With guilt gnawing at her, she finally closed her eyes and helped him put on his pants.
Yosef suddenly pulled her into his arms, kissed her cheek, and said, "Thanks, honey." Skylar jolted awake, her eyes snapping open as she suddenly woke up from her dream.
It was in the middle of the night, and it was dark outside. However, she could no longer fall asleep now, a faint flutter still lingering in her chest.
Her emotions seemed to be out of control lately. 'This isn't a good sign,' she thought. However, the more she dwelt on it, the more agitated she became.
Skylar tossed and turned restlessly. Although she deliberately kept her movements small, Yosef still woke up.
Yosef got up and looked at Skylar. "Skylar, what's the matter with you?" he asked.
Thinking that Skylar was tossing and turning because she was not feeling well, he was worried. "Are you feeling unwell?" he asked.
The sense of losing control crashed over her again. She gritted her teeth, digging her nails into her palm, trying to let the sharp pain suppress the turmoil inside. However, it did not work.
Seeing Skylar remained silent, Yosef reached out to feel her forehead.
Just as Yosef's warm fingertips touched Skylar's slightly cold forehead, her eyes widened and she blinked in panic. "Wh-what are you doing?" she stammered, flustered.
Yosef calmly withdrew his hand and said, "You were silent, and I thought you weren't feeling well. I just checked if you had a fever."
Skylar lowered her gaze and said, "I'm fine."
"If you're fine, why can't you sleep? What's on your mind?" Yosef asked with concern.
"Nothing. Let's get back to sleep, okay? We have an outing tomorrow, don't we?" Skylar said. Just as she finished speaking, she closed her eyes and turned her back to him.
Yosef sensed something was off with Skylar, but could not figure it out. Staring at the back of Skylar's round head, his mind was a whirlwind of thoughts. He finally fell asleep without realizing it.
In the morning, they freshened themselves up and got ready to go out. Skylar only helped Yosef when necessary. Otherwise, she stayed away from him.
Yosef noticed this and was baffled. 'Why did Skylar's attitude toward me change so drastically overnight?
'Has she found out what I secretly did behind her?' Yosef wondered.
'Probably not. If she's found out, considering her personality, she'll say something. But now, she doesn't say a word. She just ignores me as if I were invisible.
'Looks like it's not due to that. But what could it be if not discovering my secret?' Yosef wondered, completely baffled.
