He was just giving her a taste of her own medicine. Winnie liked ruining people's reputations this way, so now she could see how it felt.
Serena clung to him desperately, her grip so tight Keith felt like she might strangle him. She was trying to melt into his very bones. She muttered, "Keith, I feel awful... so awful..."
Serena's eyes fluttered open, but her eyes couldn't focus. All she could do was hold onto whoever was beside her.
She didn't really know it was Keith—she just didn't know whose name else to call right now.
Keith gently stroked her hair and quickened his pace, rushing to the car.
"Mr. Brannon, what's wrong with Ms. Gray?" James asked.
Whatever drug Winnie had used, Keith knew most of the stuff on the market was brutal. Fighting it alone was impossible and would only hurt her body more.
Keith said coldly, "Go home first. Call Nate."
Meanwhile, Daniel realized something was seriously wrong when they hadn't returned for so long.
He quickly turned to the group of girls nearby. They were Winnie's usual crowd, so they might know what she planned to do to Serena tonight.
He stood up and walked over, his face stern. "It's come to this point. Whatever you know, spill it now."
The girls exchanged nervous glances, clearly intimidated, so they had no choice but to confess everything about Winnie's plan.
The girl said, "But this has nothing to do with us! We tried to talk her out of it, but you know how Winnie is—once she sets her mind on something, she won't give up."
Daniel knew Winnie's stubborn streak all too well, which made him even more worried. He rushed upstairs and found the room door still locked.
The lounge's soundproofing wasn't excellent. Daniel could hear muffled sounds from inside that made everyone's faces flush. Everyone instantly understood what was happening behind that door.
Someone quickly brought a key. Daniel opened the door, only to discover that the person inside was Winnie! She was wrapped around some man, shamelessly doing that in front of all these people!
"Winnie!" Daniel felt his face burn with humiliation. He immediately shut the door, then pulled the two tangled figures on the bed apart.
The sound snapped Winnie back to reality. When she realized what she was doing, she screamed hysterically. "How could this happen? How could this happen!"
Winnie's mind raced. 'Shouldn't it be Serena lying there in bed, being laughed at by everyone? How did this happen to me instead?'
Even without seeing what happened earlier, Daniel immediately understood. The truth had come out, and Keith had chosen this way to get back at Winnie.
Looking at Winnie, Daniel felt both frustrated and heartbroken. He quickly kicked the man beside her off the bed and wrapped the blanket around Winnie.
He said, "No one else can know about this. We're going to pretend we never saw anything here today!"
"Okay. Dad, I knew you'd protect me!" Winnie burst into tears. She never imagined things would turn out this way. She had lost her virginity. Her reputation was ruined.
Daniel continued, "I'll have those girls outside take you out through the side door. No one will find out about this. We'll act like nothing happened, got it?"
Winnie nodded immediately, her eyes filled with hatred for Keith and Serena. 'Why?'
Serena hadn't been hurt, yet Keith had left her here alone.
Winnie was quickly escorted out, but with so many people leaving, the crowd downstairs was eager for drama and didn't miss this juicy scene.
Winnie looked completely disheveled—her clothes and hair were a mess, making it obvious what had happened.
Daniel appeared last. "What happened tonight doesn't leave this room. If I hear anyone talking about this, I won't let it slide."
His face was dark with anger. Daniel carried real weight in these circles, so everyone quickly shut up and scattered.
Daniel clenched his fists, and his eyes darkened with anger.
He'd planned to give Keith some face and convince Winnie to stop chasing after him. After all, living your own life well was more important than anything else.
But since Keith wouldn't show him any respect, he definitely wasn't going to let this slide.
Night fell, and warm light flickered throughout the house.
Keith carried Serena into the bathroom, but when he noticed Alyssa watching curiously, he cleared his throat and had James take the child away. "She can't see this."
Though Keith hadn't said it outright, James could tell what was happening. Right now, Serena's condition was the priority.
Alyssa nodded, not quite understanding but knowing she shouldn't disturb Keith and Serena. She let James lead her back to her room.
Serena's condition was getting worse, and Keith was barely holding himself together.
Usually, Serena was gentle and shy, but under the influence of the drug, she'd become a completely different person. She was seductive enough to make Keith's heart race.
"Serena, wake up. Do you know who I am?" Keith whispered.
Soft kisses peppered her ear as Serena's rationality burned away completely. Hearing his voice, she opened her eyes, studied his face briefly, then spoke in a daze, "You're Keith, aren't you?"
Her soft voice nearly made Keith lose his own self-control, but only for a moment. He immediately turned on the faucet and splashed cold water on his face.
They were dating now, but that didn't mean they could do anything. Most importantly, this wasn't the honest Serena—she wasn't in her right mind.
Keith refused to take advantage of her.
Thankfully, Nate finally rushed over. Seeing Serena and Keith looking so disheveled, he quickly held up his hands. "Alright, stop with the cold water. That's not gonna fix anything. I brought the antidote. Who'll go first?"
Keith was quiet for two seconds. "I wasn't drugged."
Nate bit his tongue, too. "Then bring her over here. One shot and she'll be fine."
Looking at how messed up they both were, Nate had assumed they'd both been drugged. It turned out Keith just couldn't keep it together.
