The company employees had no idea what had happened yesterday. If they started gossiping about it, that was the last thing Serena wanted to deal with.
Keith knew she was always career-focused, so he didn't want to decide for her.
He nodded. "At least drink your milk first. Are you feeling okay? Nate's still next door. I can have him check on you."
Serena shook her head, her expression soft. "Don't worry, I'm fine. I feel great after sleeping all night. I'm refreshed."
Keith wasn't sure if she was just being tough, but looking at her face now, she didn't look bad. She should be fine to go to work.
He could always take her home later if needed, if worst came to worst.
He said, "Don't push yourself at the office, okay? If you feel sick at all, tell me right away and I'll take you home."
Serena smiled and nodded. "Okay, I know you're worried about me. If I don't feel well, I'll tell you."
They quickly got ready to leave. Nate heard voices outside and stumbled out of bed. He saw them dressed and prepared for work when he opened his door.
Nate stared at them in complete disbelief.
"Are you two insane? You guys are total workaholics. After everything that happened last night, you're still going to work today?" Nate honestly couldn't understand why anyone would want to go to the office.
A CEO and his girlfriend could easily just stay home and work from there, but no, they still had to go in.
"You can have breakfast here. If there's nothing else, you can leave." Keith's voice was flat, and Nate watched them walk away, scratching his head. "Did I just become a tool again?"
Nate knew exactly what his role was here, and that meant being the reliable helper.
Nate shook his head with a sigh, then noticed Alyssa peeking through her cracked bedroom door. He walked over and gently pinched her cheek. "How about we both go back to bed for a bit? Your workaholic parents just left for the office."
The word "parents" clearly made Alyssa light up. She nodded obediently and returned to her room, clutching her stuffed animal.
Meanwhile, Serena clocked in right on time. She walked into the office area, only to find Winnie surrounded by a crowd of people, tears streaming down her face.
She said, "Last night I was being nice and invited Mr. Brannon and Serena to our family's party, but they totally humiliated me in front of everyone. I honestly don't know what I did wrong—"
Winnie was naturally petite and cute-looking. Sure, her previous behavior had been pretty spoiled, but people tend to sympathize when they're not the ones getting hit.
Winnie had mainly targeted Serena while being generous with everyone else. Now, crying like a wounded angel, she had quite a few people believing her story.
"Targeting?" Serena frowned as she stepped forward. "Do you dare tell everyone what happened last night? Let them decide who was targeting whom."
When Winnie spotted Serena, she looked like she'd seen a ghost. 'How could she possibly come to work today after what happened last night?' Winnie wondered.
Serena and Winnie were thinking the same thing, but now that Winnie had come face to face with Serena, she didn't dare keep running her mouth in front of their coworkers.
If Serena actually spilled what happened yesterday, Winnie would be ruined entirely.
"Alright, everyone back to work," Graham said, his expression complicated as he glanced at Serena.
He still believed in Serena, of course. After knowing her this long, Graham understood precisely what kind of person she was.
As long as nobody picked a fight with Serena first, she'd never go after anyone. Winnie had been hostile toward Serena from day one.
If she hadn't started something, Graham definitely wouldn't believe it.
Serena returned to her desk, opened her computer, and calmly returned to work. The stares from her coworkers meant nothing to her.
After what happened last night, Winnie would leave Brannon Creative Group soon anyway. Serena wasn't that vindictive. She wouldn't bring up what happened alone.
She finished her workday and finally sorted everything for the Tims Group project.
"Seri, you look exhausted." A colleague handed her a piece of chocolate. "You don't look so good. Did Winnie give you trouble yesterday?"
Serena shook her head with a smile. "I'm just tired, that's all. Nothing happened yesterday, so don't worry about it."
From Serena's expression, something had gone down at the party. But her colleague didn't want to push, so she nodded and said, "I already saw the follow-up work in my email. Let me handle it for you. I'll send you the files later."
She added, "Seri, you should go home and rest."
The truth was, Serena really did feel awful. She'd lied to Keith this morning about being fine, because if she hadn't, he never would have let her come to work today.
But she couldn't just drop the Tims Group project either. "Thanks, I really appreciate it."
Serena packed up her things and headed out of the office. Winnie spotted her leaving and immediately started following her.
The colleague who saw this felt a chill run down her spine. After hesitating for a moment, she walked over to the elevator and pressed the button for the top floor.
'Is Winnie planning to do something to Serena?' she wondered.
Serena stepped outside and felt dizzy, but she'd already called for a ride. She just needed to make it to the pickup spot.
After walking a bit further, Serena suddenly heard the roar of an engine behind her. She turned around just in time to see a car speeding toward her.
"Seri!" A familiar voice called out as Serena felt herself lifted off her feet and thrown into the nearby bushes.
Everything went white for a moment. Keith's panicked voice calling her name twice brought her back to reality, her voice shaking as she spoke, "I'm okay."
Keith had just come downstairs after a colleague's reminder when he saw what was happening. He'd rushed out and grabbed Serena without thinking.
His heart was still pounding. If he'd been even a second later, if he hadn't caught her in time—
Serena slowly returned to herself and awkwardly patted his back, trying to comfort him.
