Meanwhile, Serena pushed open the office door.
She'd just found a few fabric suppliers, but wasn't sure which one she could trust. That was why she'd come to Brannon Creative Group to ask Keith for some advice.
She never expected to walk in on this.
Sarah's clothes were messy, one arm draped over Keith's shoulder. When she saw Serena, Sarah gave a provocative smirk, then threw herself into Keith's arms, sitting down on his lap. "Mr. Brannon..."
Serena's eyes blurred for a second. Before she realized what was going on, she'd already reached out shakily and closed the office door again.
'Keith and Sarah?' Serena thought in disbelief.
Serena wanted to believe him. But she'd seen exactly what happened. Keith never let anyone get close to him, let alone sit down on his lap.
Keith was stunned for a moment, too. It wasn't until Serena closed the door that he frowned coldly and pushed Sarah to the floor.
He'd never thought Sarah would dare touch him like that in the office. He certainly hadn't expected Serena to walk in right then.
"Mr. Brannon, don't be such a spoilsport," Sarah said, not angry at all as she knelt on the floor. "Ms. Gray already saw us. Why not just go with it?"
She reached for Keith's leg, but he swatted her hand away before she could. He turned to chase after Serena to explain that it wasn't what she thought.
But when Sarah saw he was leaving, she tore open her collar. Then, as Keith stepped out the door, she ran up from behind, wrapping her arms around his waist. "He assaulted me. Help!"
The office door was wide open. Everyone outside saw it. The tears still on Sarah's face made it look obvious what "had happened."
After stepping out of the office, Serena forced herself to calm down. She was sitting on the sofa outside, trying to steady herself, so naturally she was the first to see Keith come out, followed by Sarah.
The employees outside were also overcome with curiosity, their eyes turning toward the scene.
With so many people watching, Sarah raised her voice even more, starting to wail, "Mr. Brannon, I only came to talk to you about my shop today. How could you do something so beastly to me?
"Now, everyone has seen this. How am I supposed to show my face?"
Serena was closest and the first to react. Having already been shocked once, she quickly figured out what had just happened.
Sarah had come for her shop. With Keith's personality, he would never back down, so she must be trying to slander him.
"Seri, I didn't do that," Keith said.
What mattered most to him right now was Serena's thoughts. When he saw her expression softening a little, he believed she probably had figured it out, so he let out a small breath of relief.
After his initial shock, James called security. They arrived quickly and dragged Sarah, who was still screaming hysterically, out of Brannon Creative Group. But the looks from the surrounding employees had turned rather meaningful.
They thought, 'Who would have thought Mr. Brannon, who always seems so proper, would use his power to pressure someone like that?'
"Nothing to see here. It's not what you think," James said, scowling as he shooed away the employees who were watching.
Keith stood a short distance from Serena. It was the first time James had seen him look so flustered in front of someone.
"Seri, I..." Keith stammered.
Watching him rush to explain, Serena sighed and shook her head. "I get it. Our trust isn't that fragile, is it?"
Serena gave a helpless smile. When Keith saw she really wasn't letting the incident bother her, he finally relaxed.
"But I don't think Sarah will let this go so easily," Serena added.
Sarah had already come up with such an extreme way to slander Keith. Serena didn't believe Sarah would just go home and quietly reflect on her actions.
Keith, of course, wasn't worried. He nodded in a direction. Serena looked confused, so Keith spoke up. "There are cameras. More than one."
His office held so many important files. There was no way he could just let people come and go freely. Sarah's little act was nothing but a joke.
Serena realized her worries had been unnecessary and nodded, pressing her lips together.
"Even though I know you trust me, I still want to say I'm sorry." Keith took Serena's hand. His eyes, usually so cold to others, were now full of earnestness.
"I should've stayed away from her the second I noticed what she was trying to do. Then, you never would've misunderstood," he added.
Even though Serena wasn't worried anymore, the shock and little pang of hurt she'd felt earlier had been real. Keith couldn't stand seeing her upset.
He reached out and hugged her, patting her thin back gently. "You can always trust me. I never once thought there would be another leading lady in my life besides you."
Serena couldn't help smiling at his words. "I know, Keith. I should've kept trusting you all along."
James quietly closed the office door for them, with a touch of relief in his eyes. He thought, 'Seeing Mr. Brannon and Ms. Gray getting on so well, I could finally feel at ease.'
That night, it turned out Serena's worries weren't unfounded.
Sarah had stayed quiet all afternoon, but by evening, news that the CEO of Brannon Creative Group had coerced her shot straight to the top of the trending list.
Sarah had recorded a video, saying she wanted to report Keith by name. She claimed that he'd blocked her shop out of spurned love, that he was angry because he'd tried to force himself on her and failed.
Brannon Creative Group's PR team had been monitoring the situation, as they'd expected this. They silently noted down all the media outlets and influencers Sarah had contacted.
From now on, those media sources were officially on Brannon Creative Group's blacklist.
But because they were still compiling the list, the company hadn't rushed to release the security footage to expose Sarah's lies. This sparked discussions among many netizens unaware of the truth.
[That Keith guy is pretty hot. Why would he do something like this?]
[Good looks don't mean anything. It just goes to show all men are the same. None of them are good.]
[That's so awful. Not only did she get her shop blocked, but she had to go through this, too. Being a woman is so hard.]
Watching these comments online, Serena frowned slightly.
