Lana remembered she had promised Serena to be careful around Craig just a few days ago, so she felt a bit guilty and tried to quietly slip away.
Serena quickly figured out what was going on, a trace of helplessness flickering in her eyes.
"I'm not going to blame you for this, but you still need to be careful. If you ever feel something's not right when you're with Craig, just call me right away," Serena said.
Seeing that Serena really wasn't mad, Lana immediately stood at attention and gave a playful salute. "Mission accepted. I promise to get it done."
Watching her skip away cheerfully, Serena couldn't help but feel a bit helpless, but she just shook her head.
'Let her have fun while she still can before anything goes wrong. At least for now, Craig seems pretty normal,' Serena thought to herself.
Just as Serena was thinking this while lowering her head, her assistant, Cindy Hobbs, suddenly walked in and said, "Serena, a young woman wants to see you. Would you like to meet her?"
Lately, more and more people had been coming to the studio hoping to collaborate with Serena, so she wasn't surprised at all.
Serena simply nodded. "Let her in, please. Wait for me outside for a bit. I'm free right now."
Seeing how gentle Serena was, even willing to give up her own break for work, Cindy couldn't help but sigh inwardly, 'I've never met a boss as kind as her.'
Cindy replied, "Okay, I'll go get her right now."
Serena tidied up her desk and then walked out of her office. She spotted a pretty girl sitting on the lobby couch, glancing around the room.
She asked, "Hello, miss. Is there something I can help you with?"
Serena had just started to greet her, and the woman suddenly lunged at Serena and slapped on her face.
Since there was some distance between them, Serena sensed something was off the moment the woman jumped up. She instinctively stepped back with a frown.
But the woman's movement was just too sudden, and her hand landed a slap right on Serena's chin.
The slap was so hard that it left Serena stunned for a moment. She frowned, staring at the woman in front of her.
"You damn homewrecker! I hate you! Why don't you just drop dead?" the woman screamed at the top of her lungs, her voice raw with fury.
A few employees immediately rushed over and grabbed her arms, holding her back. Even if they didn't know what was happening, everyone who'd worked with Serena knew what kind of person she was.
No one believed that Serena would break up someone else's family.
"Stop spouting nonsense. Cindy, call the police." The male colleague who was restraining the woman shot a frown at Cindy.
Cindy immediately sprang into action. "Got it. I'm on it right now."
But Serena was more curious about why the woman was accusing her so confidently of being a homewrecker.
"You call me a homewrecker, but I don't even know whose home I wrecked," Serena said, her voice calm.
The woman met everyone's eyes and let out a mocking snort, her expression full of contempt for Serena.
She snapped, "Don't you feel guilty for what you've done? You've been clinging to my boyfriend these past few days, and now he doesn't even have time to see me.
"Have you ever thought about how I feel? You deserve a terrible ending, you bitch!"
Serena's face rarely turned cold, but she spoke every word sharply and clearly, "Throwing accusations at me without a shred of proof? That's slander.
"Tell me who your boyfriend is, so we can see if there's actually some misunderstanding. Don't just come here and throw a tantrum."
The woman seemed stunned by Serena's composure, her eyes welling up as she stared at her, choked up and at a loss for words.
She replied, "My boyfriend is Craig. Ever since you met him, he hasn't come to see me at all. Don't tell me there's nothing going on between you two."
Hearing that name, Serena froze, completely caught off guard.
She was more shocked than anyone else. The woman in front of Serena looked even younger than her, and it was hard to imagine someone like her would be Craig's girlfriend.
But the hurt and anger in the woman's eyes were all too real, and Serena felt her heart plummet.
"Serena, should we still call the police?" Cindy asked, noticing that something was off with Serena and stepping closer.
"No need for now," Serena said.
Serena still had no idea what was really going on. If this woman were indeed Craig's girlfriend, then there must be some kind of misunderstanding between the two of them.
The woman sneered, "Feeling guilty now? You'd better stay away from Craig.
"He's only interested in you because you're something new to him. He's not actually into you. Do yourself a favor and back off."
With that, the woman broke free from their grip and walked out of the studio with everyone staring at her.
"Serena, are you okay?" one of her colleagues asked, concern written all over their face.
The worried looks from her colleagues warmed Serena's heart. Back then, at other companies, if her colleagues had heard something like this, their first reaction would have been suspicion.
But here at Studio Delune, it seemed like everyone was on her side.
As if sensing what Serena was thinking, a colleague nearby scratched their head and said, "Don't worry, Serena. We won't spread any rumors.
"We've all worked together for so long, and we know what kind of person you are. You'd never mess with someone else's relationship. There must be some kind of misunderstanding."
Serena's eyes grew a little misty as she nodded, moved by the trust in everyone's eyes.
She replied, "Thank you, guys. Please just give me a little time. I'll get to the bottom of this. I promise I won't let something like this happen again."
"Forget about it," her colleagues reassured her, waving their hands.
When lunch break ended, Lana came back in, looking all excited. But the moment she saw Serena with a long face, her smile disappeared right away.
She gave a couple of awkward coughs and asked, "What's wrong, Seri? Why the long face?"
Serena kept her face grim as she filled Lana in on everything that had happened during lunch break. Then she said, "Let's just keep our distance from Craig from now on.
"It doesn't matter if that woman was telling the truth or not. Being around him is always a risk."
Lana felt like a bucket of cold water had just been dumped on her. However, Serena had already warned her before, and she'd just gotten a little carried away at that moment.
She just sighed and thought, 'Jerks are a dime a dozen. We're just unlucky.' After that, she went right back to her work.
Seeing Lana bounce back so quickly, Serena finally let out a sigh of relief. She was glad Lana hadn't really been affected by all this.
Now that they'd seen Craig's true colors, they figured there shouldn't be any more trouble going forward.
But Serena was way too naive. It wasn't long before Craig messaged her again.
Serena frowned and swiped the chat window away. Keith happened to walk in with the food just then, and when he saw the look on her face, he couldn't help but frown too.
