Victor handed over the gifts in his hands to Keith and said, "I prepared these for Seri. I hope you can accept them."
Though his heart still ached, Victor knew he had to let go. He just hoped that from now on, Serena could truly find her own happiness.
But if there was ever a chance, Victor would still try to win Serena back. Lately, it felt like someone had ripped a piece right out of his heart.
He knew that missing piece was where Serena used to be. But sadly, there was no way to turn back time.
Keith's face was icy as he shot down the offer without a second thought. "No, thanks."
Keith thought all this so-called devotion Victor showed now was just built on the hurt he gave Serena before.
He was a bit jealous, but more than that, Keith just couldn't stand seeing Victor, someone who once hurt Serena, appear in front of her like nothing ever happened.
"You already failed her when you were together. Now that it's over, there's no point putting on a show," Keith said flatly.
Meanwhile, Serena had already finished comforting Leon and walked over when she heard the commotion.
Victor looked at Serena, his eyes full of pleading. "I really picked out these gifts with care. Think of them as a way for me to make up for all the years I owed you, Serena..."
Before he could finish, Serena politely interrupted him, "Don't say that. Our story is in the past now, and from here on out, we have nothing left to do with each other."
"Mr. Powell, please take your gifts back with you," Serena said.
Keith was clearly pleased with her response. Serena could spot that little glimmer of pride beneath Keith's usually cold exterior, and she couldn't help but want to laugh at how smug he looked.
'He's already the CEO of a huge company, why is he still so adorably childish sometimes?' Serena thought.
"Let's go home. It's pretty windy out here at night. Don't catch a cold," Keith said casually, using the excuse as he took Serena by the wrist.
Keith turned back to Victor, his face slipping right back into that cold look. "If there's nothing else, we'll leave."
Not waiting for a reply, Keith simply tugged Serena along and got her into the car.
Seeing all this, James turned to Victor, gave him a polite nod, and then hurried after them into the car.
Serena glanced at Keith's chiseled side profile and teased, "Are you jealous?"
Just thinking that he might actually be jealous, Serena thought he looked even cuter.
"Was it that obvious?" Keith let out a helpless little sigh, his eyes betraying him.
He lowered his head, gently fiddling with her hand. When he spotted the ring he'd so carefully chosen for her on her finger, a small, satisfied smile tugged at his lips.
Serena felt a mischievous urge bubble up and teased, "Honestly, I almost wanted to accept Victor's gifts just now. I wonder what he picked out for me."
"But the cake—mmph!" Before she could finish, her words were swallowed up.
Keith suddenly wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her flush against him.
Then, like a sudden storm, he kissed her fiercely. Even after all this time together, Serena had never seen him lose control like this.
For a moment, she was completely caught off guard. When she tried to push him away, she couldn't bring herself to use any real strength—her half-hearted resistance was more like a kitten's gentle pawing.
"W-We're still in the car," Serena stammered, her breathy voice trembling with embarrassment.
Keith managed to keep a sliver of self-control. If he hadn't, that kiss would have been just the beginning.
"James, head to the nearest apartment," Keith said, his voice low and commanding.
Keith owned more than a few apartments around town. James instantly caught on to what Keith said. Without missing a beat, he pressed down on the gas and took off at the fastest speed the law would allow.
He definitely wasn't about to play third wheel for his boss tonight.
Before long, they arrived at the nearest apartment. James didn't say a word—he just left the keys in the car and quietly slipped away, leaving Keith to sweep Serena straight out of the passenger seat and into his arms.
Carrying her upstairs, Keith kept his steps steady. Serena could practically hear his heartbeat thundering in her ears, each beat growing louder and more intense as they got closer to the door.
As soon as he unlocked the door, he pinned her against the wall and kissed her hard.
Serena was desperate for air, but at that moment, it felt like the only thing keeping her upright was Keith's arms around her. Without him, she might have melted right to the floor.
"Serena, I love you," Keith whispered.
At that moment, words couldn't compare to the feelings between them. Serena nodded gently, her careful response a silent promise. It was her way of saying yes without a single word.
Then, they had a thrilling and sweet night.
When Serena opened her eyes the next morning, she was still a little dazed. Staring up at the unfamiliar ceiling, she immediately noticed the dull ache in her back and waist.
There was a glass of milk on the nightstand. Serena propped herself up, feeling like her whole body was about to fall apart. As she sat up, memories of last night rushed back to her all at once.
Instantly, she felt the blush creeping up to the tips of her ears.
Tucked under the glass of milk was a note. Serena took a steadying breath before sliding it out—Keith had left her a message.
There was some emergency at Brannon Creative Group, so Keith had to leave for the office early, but he made sure to remind her to eat breakfast when she got up.
Serena felt a gentle warmth bloom in her heart. Biting her lip with a shy smile, she got up, washed up, and hurried through breakfast.
By the time she made it to the studio, she was already running an hour and a half late.
"Hey, where have you been?" came Lana's teasing voice from the side.
Serena's cheeks instantly turned crimson. Lana had just tossed out the question without thinking, but seeing Serena's reaction, she quickly covered her mouth, trying to stifle a laugh.
"Wait, don't tell me you two actually got up to something thrilling last night," Lana teased.
She'd honestly thought that after she left yesterday, Serena and Keith would just go to sleep. Turned out, they really did go to "sleep" together.
Understanding the situation, Lana just shot Serena a knowing look and raised her eyebrows, grinning, "Honestly, this is great. You and Keith should just make it official.
"Soon, my bestie will be a CEO's wife. Think I can get some benefits, huh?"
Serena couldn't help but giggle. "Come on, you're already a CEO yourself. If anything, I should be the one hoping to catch some of your luck."
Lana Nicole and Serena shared a knowing smile, and that was when Lana spotted the diamond ring on Serena's finger.
Lana couldn't help but click her tongue. "Damn, Keith is really loaded. Even the ring is so extravagant."
Serena suddenly remembered the ring, glanced down at it, and figured she'd better put it away for now.
Wearing such a massive diamond ring out in public was just asking for attention, especially since she and Keith hadn't even announced their relationship yet.
'I'll save it for when the time is right,' Serena thought.
Just as Serena put the ring away, a loud commotion erupted outside. Her brows furrowed in concern as she wondered, 'Oh no, is someone here to stir up trouble again?'
As soon as Serena and Lana stepped out of the office, Serena spotted a few familiar faces right away.
"Graham, what brings you guys here?" Serena asked, genuinely surprised.
She quickly waved them over and had everyone take a seat.
