Regina arrived at the reception desk of Powell Group, flicked her hair, and flashed a coquettish smile. "Hello, is Victor here?"
The receptionist asked politely, "Do you have an appointment, please?"
"No." Regina shook her head, then took a business card from her bag and handed it to the receptionist. "Give this to him, and he'll see me."
The receptionist took the card, glanced at the name on it, and said, "Okay, please wait a moment."
She dialed the internal line to the president's office and said, "Mr. Powell, there's a Ms. Regina Aniston here to see you. She said you'd meet her when you see her business card."
Victor's deep voice replied, "Send her up."
Just as Eliza stepped out of the building's elevator, she saw Regina standing there. Hearing the receptionist address Regina as "Ms. Aniston," she recalled the recent news about the much-publicized marriage alliance between Aniston Group and Powell Group.
Regina was the daughter of the Aniston family.
In the office, Victor stared intently at the computer screen, typing quickly on the keyboard. Soon, a gentle knock on the door interrupted his thoughts. "Come in," he said.
Regina pushed the door open and subtly scanned Victor from head to toe. The well-tailored black suit accentuated his perfect figure, and his handsome features added to his charm.
She walked gracefully up to Victor, flashed a confident smile, and said, "Mr. Powell, long time no see."
Victor looked at Regina with a slight frown. "Ms. Aniston, may I ask why you're here?"
Regina said, "I'm here to see you, of course. The elders said we're almost getting married, so we should chat more and build our relationship."
She casually placed her designer bag aside, crossed her legs, and sat directly on the chair opposite Victor's desk. Victor felt even more disgusted by Regina's overly familiar behavior.
He didn't even have the thought of getting engaged to her, let alone married.
He looked at her coldly to drive her away. "Ms. Aniston, I've never agreed to the marriage alliance. It's just my father's wishful thinking," Victor said.
"Don't be so cold." Regina tilted her head and squinted at Victor.
She said, "I've said that after we get married, we can each do our own thing. I'm here so the old men in my family can stop nagging."
Victor didn't respond to her. Instead, he closed his laptop and looked at her quietly. "What do you really want?"
Regina tilted her head at Victor and smiled. "I specially had a bartender abroad mix two bottles of wine. Let's have a wine tasting tonight."
Victor frowned slightly, looking at Regina with impatience. "I'm not interested in wine."
"What a pity." Regina pretended to be disappointed and pouted. "I prepared that wine specially for you. Are you really not giving me any face?"
Just then, the office door was gently pushed open again. Eliza walked in and placed a document on Victor's desk. "Vic, this is my design draft. Can you take a look?"
At the sight of Eliza, Victor immediately stood up, and his cold face melted into a gentle one. "Leave it here. I'll check it later."
Then, Eliza looked at Regina. Her smile stiffened for a second, and she asked, "Vic, who is this?"
He said, "This is Ms. Aniston. She's here to discuss work with me."
Hearing this, Regina flicked a lock of her long hair and then said provocatively, "This must be Ms. Stone, right? Hello, I'm Victor's fiancée."
At these words, Eliza involuntarily clenched the hem of her skirt.
"Ms. Aniston, please watch your wording. I have no relationship with you," Victor immediately stood up and walked to Eliza's side. He observed Eliza's expression nervously, afraid she might misunderstand.
Then he said, "Ellie, don't listen to her. There's nothing between me and her."
"Mr. Powell, I was sent by the elders to get closer to you." Regina deliberately waved her phone. "Why don't I call your father now and let him talk to you himself?"
Eliza was so jealous that she could hardly control herself. She tried to maintain a calm demeanor, but her trembling hands betrayed the turmoil within.
Regina chuckled. "Ms. Stone, you don't need to be so nervous. Even if Vic and I get married in the future, you can still stay by his side."
"Ms. Aniston, I have no interest in you or Aniston Group. The marriage alliance is nothing but nonsense. Please leave. I'm busy," Victor said, looking at Regina with undisguised impatience.
After hearing Victor's words, Regina looked Eliza up and down in a slightly disrespectful way.
Then she said, "Mr. Powell, the marriage alliance isn't something you can decide alone. But since you're so busy, I'll be going now, so as not to disturb you and Ms. Stone with your 'work'."
Eliza glared at Regina's retreating back, her eyes filled with jealousy.
Serena got off work a little later than usual. After leaving the company, she went to a nearby mall and walked into a children's toy store. After some picking and choosing, she selected a set of painting tools, paid satisfactorily, and left.
Soon, she arrived at the hotel where Keith was staying. As soon as the door opened, Alyssa quickly popped her head out, a look of expectation on her little face.
"Alyssa, look what I brought you," Serena said, handing her the drawing board and brushes.
Alyssa was taken aback for a moment, then carefully took them and hugged them tightly.
"Do you like them?" Serena smiled and touched her little head. "Be a good girl, okay?"
Alyssa couldn't wait to unpack the drawing board and brushes. She carefully fixed the drawing paper and picked up a colored brush. Then she sat down on the empty seat by the coffee table and began to draw with a serious frown.
Serena sat down beside her and watched her draw quietly. When Alyssa finished, she handed the drawing board to Serena to see.
Serena took the drawing board and admired it carefully. "Alyssa, you drew this so well. I love it."
Alyssa smiled brightly at the compliment. The sight of Alyssa's happiness made Serena happy too. Just then, the sound of footsteps came from the door.
