Oliver walked up to Leon with a toy car, forcing a smile while rolling his eyes inwardly. "Leon, let's play together. I have lots of good toys."
Truthfully, Oliver thought Leon was annoying. If Eliza hadn't demanded he stop bullying Leon and play with him, Oliver wouldn't have even looked at him.
Then Oliver began demonstrating how to play with the toy car.
Leon glanced at Oliver, didn't move, and didn't respond.
Eliza stood by, smiling softly. "Leon, Oliver came to you on his own. Why don't you play together?"
The surrounding maids looked cautious, not even daring to breathe loudly.
Leon looked up at Eliza, then at Oliver, and finally shook his head. He pressed his lips together and whispered, "I don't want to."
The smile on Eliza's face froze slightly, but she quickly returned to normal.
Oliver had already taken the initiative to be friendly, yet Leon was still so cold. This really made him seem ungrateful. But she still needed to please Leon now, so even if she was reluctant, she had to coax him.
Eliza said, "Leon, why not? Oliver invited you seriously."
"I don't like him." Leon lowered his head and clenched his fists tightly.
Oliver glared fiercely at Leon but didn't dare to actually lash out. He could only sullenly kick the toy car at his feet.
Just as Eliza was about to continue persuading, she saw Victor walking out of the study.
Victor slightly frowned, looking somewhat displeased, but said nothing. He raised his hand to gently adjust his loose cuff, then came over and looked toward Leon and Oliver. Then he looked down at Leon.
Victor said, "Leon, come here. What's wrong? Not happy?"
Leon looked up at him, quickly dropped his gaze, and walked up to Victor. "Dad, I don't want to play with him."
Upon hearing this, Victor didn't scold him. He just asked softly, "Leon, isn't it good for Oliver to play with you?"
Leon didn't speak. Looking at Leon's stubborn little face, Victor felt a faint anger rise. He didn't know why the child was always so stubborn. Oliver had reached out, but Leon was so cold, making him seem unapproachable.
But Victor thought again, and the scene of Leon being hospitalized due to an allergy recently flashed in his mind. He seemed to see Leon lying in the hospital bed again, pale and breathing faintly.
Thinking of this, Victor gradually calmed down. He gently sighed and decided to be patient with Leon. "Leon, look how nice Oliver is. You should learn from Oliver, understand?"
Leon looked up at Oliver, pouted, and said, "I don't want to."
Victor's eyes became sharper. "Why do you always cause me trouble? Don't you even have the manners to get along with others?"
Leon still kept his head down, stubbornly clenching his fists, clearly unwilling to compromise.
Eliza watched the father-son conflict coldly.
Leon would only behave after Victor was tough to him. She enjoyed seeing Leon embarrassed.
But since Leon was still useful to her now, she immediately put on a worried expression and gently pulled Victor's sleeve.
"Vic, Leon is still young. Talk to him nicely." Then she reached out to stroke Leon's hair, but Leon nimbly dodged.
Eliza said, "And Leon is such a good boy. Oliver only knows how to play with toys all day, which sometimes bothers me."
Oliver was still standing there, looking confused, not understanding why he was suddenly being compared to Leon.
Eliza observed Victor's expression. Seeing his face soften slightly, she continued, "Vic, don't blame Leon. He's just not used to playing with others. He's not as lively and outgoing as Oliver."
She paused, then added casually, "Actually, Leon cares a lot about your feelings, but he's just not good at expressing it. When he dodged me just now, he must have been afraid of making you angry."
Eliza secretly observed Victor's reaction. Seeing his face soften even more, she was delighted.
Seeing the opportunity was right, she wanted to propose to Victor that Oliver transfer to Leon's kindergarten.
If Oliver could go to Leon's prestigious kindergarten, he would have more connections in the future.
Moreover, the educational resources there were top-notch, which would greatly benefit Oliver's future development.
Eliza said, "Vic, why not let Oliver transfer to Leon's kindergarten? Then they can take care of each other."
Victor slightly frowned and fell into a few seconds of thought. Eliza continued, "Although Oliver is a bit naughty, he can keep Leon company. How lonely Leon must be there alone."
Victor remembered the incident when Leon fought with other children some time ago. The teacher had euphemistically said that Leon was a bit reclusive and didn't get along well with others, suggesting he paid more attention to Leon's mental health.
What Eliza said made sense. If Oliver and Leon went to school together, they could be companions, and Leon might stop fighting with other children.
He nodded. "Okay, do as you say. I'll arrange for Oliver to enter Leon's school."
The smile on Eliza's face grew broader. She said softly, "That's wonderful. With them going to school together, I can rest assured."
The next day, when Victor was busy at the company, his phone rang. Seeing it was Albert's call, he frowned but eventually answered. "Dad, what's up?"
Albert said coldly, "Come back to Powell Manor after work."
Victor was taken aback, then replied, "Okay."
As the sun set and twilight deepened, the clock struck 6:30, and Victor finally finished dealing with the mountain of files.
Since the last unpleasant phone call with his father about the marriage alliance, they hadn't contacted each other for a long time. Albert suddenly calling him back to Powell Manor must be about that matter.
Thinking of this, Victor irritably grabbed the car keys from the table, got up, and left the office. He drove all the way and finally parked in front of Powell Manor's gate.
Albert was already sitting in the living room waiting for him.
Victor walked into the living room and said respectfully, "Good evening, Father."
Albert looked up at him, pointed to the opposite sofa, and motioned for him to sit. "Sit first. We'll have dinner together later."
Victor silently sat on the sofa, clearly distracted.
A few minutes later, the maid served the food, and the two sat down at the dining table.
Albert slowly cut his steak. His expression was normal, showing no emotion.
