Victor glared at Serena, his hand holding Leon trembling slightly. "Serena, you're a lousy mother. Leon's temperature is almost thirty-nine degrees, and you didn't even ask about it."
Serena's face instantly turned pale. She subconsciously lowered her head, biting her lip without a word.
Victor stepped closer to her, his voice growing louder, clearly ignoring the surrounding stares. "You abandoned your husband and child, not even bothering to ask when the kid is sick."
Upon hearing this, Serena almost lost her balance. She said, "Don't guilt-trip me. I've already divorced you and given up custody of the child. I have no obligation—"
"What?" Victor demanded with a mix of shock and anger in his voice. "Are you really that heartless? You don't deserve to be a mother at all."
Serena suddenly raised her head. With tears in her eyes, she slapped Victor across the face. He froze in disbelief.
The onlookers said, "Wow, what a drama."
A young female colleague took out her phone, skillfully turning on the video function and pointing it at the three tense figures.
"Tsk, this woman looks like a lady, but she hits hard."
"Never underestimate women."
Soon, Victor's cheek swelled up. Leon, who was feverish and dazed, was wakened by the sudden commotion.
He was too scared to move, just staring blankly at Serena. Serena's hand trembled slightly, but she kept it tightly clenched.
She said firmly, "Victor, who are you to accuse me? Who was it that ignored me and Leon for Eliza back then?"
Serena's solemn gaze swept past Victor, and her expression was as cold as if she were looking at a stranger.
She said, "We're divorced. You have no right to accuse or question me."
Victor frowned, wanting to refute but unable to say a word.
She continued, "I'm warning you, Victor, stop intruding into my life. Don't try to use the child to force me and make me your punching bag again and again."
After being slapped by Serena, Victor's face instantly turned red, his teeth grinding loudly, and his fists clenched tightly. He took a sudden step forward, about to punch Serena.
Seeing Victor raise his hand, Serena instinctively stepped back. Just then, a strong hand firmly grabbed Victor's wrist, stopping his action.
Serena saw Keith standing in front of her, using his tall body to block between her and Victor.
Victor's hand hung in mid-air, unable to move. Keith's fingers tightened, exerting so much force that Victor felt his wrist was about to be crushed.
"Keith," Serena asked in a low voice, "Why are you here?"
Keith didn't answer immediately but gave Victor a cold look. Then he released Victor's wrist and bowed his head to adjust his cuff. He asked with concern, "Seri, are you okay?"
Serena shook her head and said softly, "I'm fine."
After confirming she was unharmed, Keith slowly said, "Good to hear you're okay."
At the sight of Keith suddenly appearing, the surrounding colleagues began to whisper.
"Who is this guy? Why did he suddenly show up to play the hero?"
"No idea. Never seen him. Could he be Serena's boyfriend?"
"Maybe. Look how handsome and charging he is. He must have a lot of girls liking him."
"If I were her, I'd choose him too. He's much better than that Victor."
Victor grew even angrier at the sight of Keith. He clenched his teeth and glared at Keith's hand on Serena's arm. He couldn't believe this was the real reason she refused to return to the country or reconcile with him.
Looking at Keith, Victor said in a worse tone, "Who are you? Serena's kept man in Glonia?"
Serena's face completely darkened. "Victor, shut your mouth. Mr. Brannon is my friend, and you have no right to comment on him."
Ignoring the pain in his wrist, Victor sneered. He said louder, "Serena, are you that eager to find a man? You're really shameless. Or is it your pleasure to flirt with multiple men after our divorce?"
His gaze scanned unkindly back and forth between Serena and Keith.
He went on, "Serena, can't you live without a man?"
Keith had thought this was Serena's private matter and he shouldn't interfere, since they were just friends.
Besides, Victor was Serena's ex-husband, and Keith didn't want to comment on their affairs. But Victor's harsh insults made Serena's face paler and paler.
Keith couldn't bear Victor's vicious words slandering Serena. He stepped forward to shield her behind him and looked down at Victor, saying, "Watch your mouth. Ms. Gray and I are just friends."
Victor pointed at Serena aggressively, saying, "I'm Serena's husband. How dare you interfere in our business?"
Keith said unpleasantly, "Husband? Mr. Powell, need I remind you that you're her ex-husband now?"
Victor was taken aback, then sneered, "Even after divorce, Serena is still mine. She'll never escape from me in this life."
"Enough!" Serena stepped out, her voice trembling but trying to stay calm. "Victor, you were the one who betrayed our marriage first, bringing Eliza home. You ignored your own son to take care of that home wrecker's child. How dare you lecture me now?"
Victor's face turned pale, and he said through clenched teeth, "Serena, I've already shown you enough respect—"
Before he could finish, Keith interrupted, "Mr. Powell, if you don't even understand basic conversation etiquette, I don't mind teaching you what respect means on behalf of Ms. Gray."
Victor laughed scornfully and spread his hands indifferently. "Who do you think you are, trying to teach me a lesson? You're just—"
Keith swung a punch, hitting him right in the cheek. Victor was knocked to the ground before finishing his sentence, a trickle of blood coming from the corner of his mouth.
