The master bedroom came with an ensuite bathroom. After splashing cold water on my face, I sank onto the edge of the bed, my thoughts swirling like storm clouds. At least Vivian and our sales manager knew where I was - that gave me some small comfort about my safety. But Richard's predatory grin kept flashing in my mind, warning me this night was far from over.
Thirty agonizing minutes passed before the lock finally clicked. I sprang up, already forming my excuse. "Richard, I really should be going—" The words died in my throat.
A stranger stood in the doorway - some muscle-bound guy in his thirties wearing nothing but gym shorts. My skin prickled with alarm. "Who the hell are you?" I demanded, backing toward the nightstand.
"Damn, Richard wasn't kidding," the man drawled, raking his eyes over me like I was a cut of meat. "You're way hotter than the usual working girls. Rough patch at the office, sweetheart?"
His assumption hit me like a physical blow. "You disgusting pig!" I slapped away his reaching hand hard enough to leave a mark.
"Ooh, feisty!" He chuckled, unfazed. "Natalie, right? Derek Anderson. Richard says you've got... special talents. Already paid your fee, so let's not play games."
Before I could react, his meaty hands were all over me. "Get off!" I screamed, twisting like a wildcat. My elbow connected with his ribs, but he just grunted and tightened his grip.
When his fingers dug into my breast, I brought my knee up viciously - missing his groin by inches.
The backhand came out of nowhere. My head snapped sideways, copper flooding my mouth. "You stuck-up bitch," Derek spat.
I swung blindly, my nails carving crimson trails across his chest. Big mistake.
His fist crashed into my temple. The room tilted violently, a high-pitched whine filling my skull. Through the haze, I felt fabric tearing, smelled his sour sweat as he loomed over me.
"Still got fight in you?" he taunted, twisting my ankle until something popped. The pain turned my leg to jelly. His silk tie bit into my wrists as he secured them.
I squeezed my eyes shut as hot tears spilled over. My quiet sobs only made him breathe harder.
