"You guys keep saying that one video could be AI and isn't reliable? No problem. I've got two more pieces of evidence."
"Here's the first."
I pulled out a used condom.
"The DNA inside this—I'm betting a lab test will tell us exactly whose it is."
"And that person is obviously our fake goddess statue."
The moment I finished speaking, Zephyra went pale as death and collapsed back into her chair.
She stared at me in complete shock.
"That's... that's impossible. How did you even get that? I swear I... I got rid of everything!"
Right after she said that, Caelum spun around and shot her a furious look.
"What are you even saying? Nothing happened!"
But whether something happened or not—everyone in that courtroom had working eyes. They could put two and two together.
Even my in-laws, who'd been watching this whole thing unfold, looked absolutely sick to their stomachs.
They were staring daggers at both of them.
The case wasn't even over and these two had already dug their own graves.
I didn't even flinch, just smiled.
"Second piece of evidence—paternity test."
I pulled out some paperwork and had it passed to the judge.
What they didn't know was that the second I caught onto Caelum's bullshit, I'd started questioning everything about that baby.
Truth is, something felt wrong from the moment she was born.
Both Caelum and I have double eyelids.
So why the hell did "our" daughter have single eyelids?
That makes zero biological sense.
That was when I first started getting suspicious.
Then I found that surveillance footage from his studio.
After seeing all the nasty stuff going down in there, I realized Caelum had been using his whole "sketching sculptures" act as cover for cheating on me.
That baby wasn't even mine—while I was knocked out at the hospital, Caelum had secretly switched the kids.
No wonder he barely gave a damn about her.
So I shelled out big money for a private investigator to get the hospital security footage.
Turns out my actual daughter had been dumped at an orphanage.
I'd known the whole truth for a while now.
That's why before I even filed for divorce, I'd already done a DNA test using hair from the baby.
Now the results were staring everyone in the face.
The judge read out loud.
"Paternity testing confirms that Mr. Thorne's daughter shares no DNA with Ms. Lysandra, but is the biological child of Mr. Thorne and Ms. Morchant!"
Caelum's face went through about five different colors before he jumped up.
"That's bullshit, Serapha!"
"You can't use fake lab results to screw me and my daughter over."
He was getting all hysterical while everyone stared at him.
The truth was pretty damn obvious at this point.
"Why are you freaking out so hard? If this really is fake..."
I shrugged.
"Plus, if you don't believe this test, we can do another one right now. All three of us are sitting here."
Just as the judge was about to order a fresh paternity test—
"That's enough!"
My father-in-law slammed his fist on the table and stood up, giving Caelum the death stare. "Haven't you humiliated us enough already?"
"Everyone knows what really happened now. You want to walk away with nothing? Fine. Get your pathetic ass home and stop embarrassing the family."
This whole legal battle went way smoother than I'd imagined.
Caelum and I got our divorce finalized.
The court ordered him to leave the marriage with absolutely nothing.
The day I got my divorce decree, Caelum was bawling his eyes out, practically begging on his knees.
"Serapha, I'm so sorry. I was a complete moron. I know I messed up bad."
"I never wanted us to get divorced—that's why I tried so hard to cover everything up..."
"Zephyra just couldn't handle raising the baby, so we figured if we switched them, we could take care of her together..."
I laughed bitterly and shoved him away.
"Cut the crap with your excuses!"
"I never did anything to deserve this. You're the one who couldn't keep it in your pants, knocked up some other woman, and then switched your bastard kid with mine."
"Did you seriously think you could keep me in the dark forever?"
"Did you honestly believe I'd never catch on to all your sick games?"
I was done listening to his pathetic begging.
I turned my back on him and walked away for good.
My former in-laws knew I was the victim here, so they kept showing up every few days with expensive gifts, trying to get me to forgive their son.
They wanted to take their real granddaughter back home.
But I wouldn't even open the door. Had security turn them away every time.
Later on, I heard that after losing the court case, Caelum completely snapped.
He went after Zephyra with a kitchen knife and nearly killed her.
Caelum got locked up for attempted murder.
Their kid ended up in foster care with no parents.
But honestly? None of that was my problem anymore.
I'd already gotten my real daughter back from the orphanage.
Sold off everything, moved to a new city and started fresh with a life that was actually mine.
