                    Amalia Pov:
As I dressed, I felt the weight of reality settling back in. Reaper was right this couldn't happen again. I couldn't let myself become a home-wrecker, no matter how much my heart yearned for him. "You're right," I murmured, my voice thick with emotion. "We can't do this" I said to Reaper.
Reaper sat up running a hand through his hair. "I'm sorry, Amalia. I didn't mean to push you into this."
"No, Reaper," I said, my voice firm as I put my jeans "This was my choice." I knew it was a lie my body had made the decision for me the moment he kissed me. But saying it out loud made it feel more like truth. "We both know we can't keep this up. You have a family now." I said the last words felt like a punch to my stomach.
He nodded, his expression a storm of guilt and longing. "Yeah, I know. But, fuck, it's just...it's hard." His eyes searched my face, looking for something I couldn't give him. A promise ,An excuse. Anything that would justify what we'd just done.
"I know," I said softly, tucking a strand of hair behind my ear. "But we have to move on." I didn't want to, but I knew it was for the best. For him, for Rose, for everyone. But I knew deep down this was going to change everything in our lives.
Reaper sighed and stood up, pulling his own clothes on. "Yeah," he said, his voice heavy with regret. "But it's going to be harder than ever now that I know what I'm missing." I could see he was tense from what just happened between us. The tension in the cabin was thick as we both grabbed our jackets and headed for the door. The cold night air hit us like a slap in the face as we stepped outside, serving as a stark reminder of the real world waiting for us.
"I'll walk you to your car," Reaper offered, his hand brushing against mine as we descended the stairs. The touch sent a jolt of electricity through me, and I knew this was going to be even more difficult than I had imagined. Because you could feel the connection we have or had.
The gravel crunched beneath our boots as we walked in silence to my car. The night was eerily quiet, the only sounds being our breaths and the distant hoot of an owl. When we reached the car, I turned to face him, my hand on the door handle.
Reaper's eyes searched mine, and I could see the turmoil brewing in them. He took a step closer, his hand coming up to cup my cheek gently. "I can't just let you go like this," he murmured, his thumb brushing against my bottom lip. Before I could say anything, he leaned in and gave me a kiss so soft, so tender, it felt like a whispered promise. It took every ounce of strength to pull away from him, but I had to. "We don't have a choice," I whispered back, my voice shaking slightly. "We both have responsibilities." I knew saying does words he will just agree.
He nodded, his hand dropping from my face. "I know," he said, his voice filled with a sadness that mirrored my own. We stood there for a moment longer, the silence stretching out between us like a tightrope we didn't dare cross again.
With a final nod, I opened the car door and climbed inside, starting the engine and pulling out of the cabin's driveway. The headlights cut through the darkness, guiding me back to the reality of my father's house and the life I'd built for myself outside of the MC. The drive was a blur of trees and taillights, my mind racing with thoughts of Reaper and the life we could have had together.
When I arrived home, the house was quiet, my father already asleep. I slipped inside, the memories of the evening playing on repeat in my mind. I couldn't shake the feeling of Reaper's arms around me, his kiss still burning on my lips. The house felt cold and empty, a stark contrast to the warmth of the cabin and the passion we'd shared.
I took a shower, the hot water washing away the sweat and Reaper's scent, trying to cleanse myself of the guilt that clung to me like a second skin. As the water cascaded over me, I closed my eyes and let the tears fall. This wasn't what I came back to Greenville for I came to take care of my father, not to stir up old feelings and create new problems. I just had to avoid Reaper and the club brothers the few weeks or months I will be in Greenville.
