Things had been rough for my baby, there was a lot of bad happening in his life, in our lives. He looked so stressed as he sat on the bed thinking about his uncle who was so sick. The chemotherapy had sapped all the life out of Kunaal who was usually quite happy to be around his family and just living life. The Kunaal we all saw was the polar opposite. He was angry with everything and everyone, but mostly he was angry with himself. He kept blaming himself for no reason. He lived a healthy lifestyle and exercised so he took all of the preventative steps it wasn't as if he could change his genetics. Elm took it hard since he and his uncle were close to one another and cried all the way home on the plane. The boys could sense that Elm was drained and was doing their best to not cause any more drama. Despite Elm having bags under his eyes and sleeping most of the day, I could tell something different was going on with him and I was certain of what exactly was going on.
He had the television on some television show about cops and was eating out of a bucket of green tea ice cream fanning himself with the lid of the carton not really paying attention to what was being shown on the television. I walked from the doorway shutting it behind me and he remained oblivious to me as he focused on whatever was going on inside of his mind. I took in every detail about him from his hair that he hadn't had cut in a while so the sides had grown in a little to the glow he had. I smiled looking down at my emotionally distraught husband and climbed into my side of the bed and reached for the remote that lay in the middle of the bed and clicked the power button cutting the television off completely. That seemed to get his attention as he turned to look at me not so warmly.
"Hey what did you do that for," he asked me looking annoyed at my presence in the room.
"Put the ice cream down and let's go to bed, you know I sleep better with you in my arms," I said making a puppy dog face at him eliciting an eye roll from him. I couldn't help but smile as he placed the lid back on the container and slide down in the bed till he was laying down with his back to me. I had to scoot over till I had him as the little spoon to my big spoon and rubbed my chest against there back. I took in the smell of jasmine and something sweet that was on his skin and the smell of coconut that scented his hair. He was warm to the touch and I could feel the strong beat of his heart as his chest vibrated on my forearm that I had wrapped gently around him.  The other slowly made its way up his side all the way to his stomach going underneath his shirt and feeling his smooth warm skin.
"So when were you going to tell me that I needed to get started on making the downstairs office into a nursery," I asked the kissed Elm gently on his neck feeling his body stiffen.
"How did you find out," he asked sounding nervous as if I was going to be mad at him for not telling me sooner. I couldn't be mad at him for having more of my children.
"I know you better than I know myself," I said kissing the side of his face and continued to rub on his stomach as he slowly started to unstiffen himself and breath normally.
"You're glowing, you have that pheromone thing like you did with the boys and I saw you calling Dr. Farrah," I said to him as he began to turn in my arms.
"I didn't know how to tell you, a lot has been going on and the boys will be graduating soon and going to college, which will cost money even if and when they got scholarships. Plus we're a lot older than we were when we had them. To make it worse London can still be lurking around somewhere ready to hurt one of us," Elm said sounding like he was running through a hundred different scenarios as to what could go wrong in his mind.
"That all can be worked out later on, what I'm focused on now is bringing another healthy child into the world. Hopefully, it's just one of them instead of three, I love the boys but three is a lot of kids at one time," I said looking at my husband who was once again bringing another child of mine into the world.
"So boy or girl," I asked with a smile while pulling him on top of me as I rolled on my stomach.
"Daughter," he said laying his head on my chest. I was ready to have a little girl running around the house, but another son wouldn't be a disappointment either.
"Perfect, I thought having boys would be less drama but I stand corrected," I said kissing him only to get him snoring as a response. I looked down at him and smiled happily to have him in my life.
"I promise you by the time my baby makes it into the world that all of our problems will be handled," I whispered to him as he slept soundly on me. I looked up at the ceiling ready to get our lives on track knowing the first step was going to be for me to figure out why Germany had made Elm so uncomfortable and why he latched onto Calloway.
