After what felt like an eternity, two figures finally emerged from the shadows—Sophia and Ryan.
My stomach twisted as I took them in. They didn't even have the decency to look guilty.
"So it was you!" My voice shook with rage. "Sophia, how could you? After everything—"
They strolled toward me like they owned the place, and something inside me snapped.
"Cut the dramatics," Sophia drawled, examining her blood-red nails with a smirk. "We wanted you to figure it out. That video was shot at the tattoo shop—who else would've had access? Honestly, Chloe, if you'd just handed over the cash like a good little friend, we wouldn't be here."
Her words hit like a slap. This wasn't the Sophia I knew—the one who'd laughed with me over milkshakes, who swore we'd always have each other's backs.
"You're not even the same person," I whispered.
She rolled her eyes. "Oh, spare me. You really think I stuck around just to be your sidekick? Please. You were useful—connections, free drinks, guys noticing me because I was standing next to you. Admit it, you loved feeling superior."
My hands clenched. "That's not true."
"Really?" She stepped closer, her voice dripping with venom. "Then why'd you sleep with Ryan? If you were such a saint, why'd you betray me first?"
The accusation hung in the air, raw and ugly.
For the first time, I saw her—really saw her. No mask, no fake sweetness. Just bitterness and a hunger for payback.
A hollow laugh escaped me. I'd walked right into this.
"Fine. Take it." I hurled the duffel bag at them. Ryan caught it, then tossed the memory card at my feet.
Sophia ripped open the bag—and her face contorted in fury. "You bitch! Ryan, post it! NOW!"
But they never got the chance.
Before they could move, strong hands shoved them to the ground.
