Nolan picked up the flower from the wooden box and studied it closely.
It was a fresh, vibrant purple blossom, exuding a rich, sweet fragrance that lingered in the air, impossible to forget.
"This flower… is it just an ordinary one?" Nolan was the first to sense something and ask.
Nolan was the first to sense that something was off.
Eliza smiled in response. "Probably not that ordinary."
Nolan looked up and met her smile.
After a brief pause, a hunch stirred within him, and he probed, "Is it medicinal?"
Eliza nodded.
Nolan pressed further. "Is it something that could help me?"
Eliza nodded again.
'A flower, a medicinal herb… and one that could help me?' Nolan's heart skipped a beat at the thought.
The answer forming in his mind was something he didn't dare say out loud.
Off to the side, Lawrence finally caught on as well. His eyes widened in shock as he looked between the flower and Eliza.
Stammering in disbelief, he exclaimed, "T-This… You're not trying to say this flower is the Bloodshade Blossom we've been searching for, are you?"
Of course, Eliza wasn't about to confirm that outright.
She shrugged, feigning uncertainty, and said, "It might be… or it might not be…"
"Wait a minute! That's not something we can just maybe about!" Lawrence shouted, reacting even more strongly than when he had received that century-old Shroom earlier.
He excitedly said, "If it is, then there's hope for Prince Nolan's illness!"
Nolan appeared much calmer than Lawrence, provided one ignored how tightly he was gripping the chair's armrest.
He stated, "Stop interrupting. Let Serenity finish."
"Alright, alright, I'll shut up. Your Grace, please—what's the story behind this flower?" Lawrence asked.
Eliza silently recited a mantra in her heart before delivering the explanation she had prepared in advance.
She said, "As it happens, Your Highness may recall that Mr. Malaki once mentioned that my great-grandmother was an exceptional physician and highly skilled in cultivating medicinal herbs."
"Yes, I do remember that," Nolan replied, having heard those words with his ears.
Eliza continued, "It was after I returned home that time—I came across several of her old medical journals and herb cultivation records while sorting through her belongings. In those notes, I stumbled upon an entry where she once experimented with growing an exotic herb called the Bloodshade Blossom.
"When I saw the name match the one Your Highness and the others have been searching for, I decided to try planting the seeds she left behind. This blossom is one of those, and it's identical to the exotic herb described in her notes.
"But I can't say for certain if it's the same Bloodshade Blossom you're looking for."
At this point, Lawrence's expression had grown solemn.
He turned to Nolan and said, "Your Highness, would it be possible for a commoner like me to examine this flower first? If its properties match the descriptions in the ancient texts, then it must be the Bloodshade Blossom we've been looking for."
Hearing this, Nolan turned to Eliza, his thoughts clear: 'Since Serenity had grown this flower, the decision should be hers.'
Unfortunately, Eliza didn't pick up on his unspoken intent and assumed Nolan thought a single blossom wouldn't be enough.
Eliza quickly said, "I still have a few more. If one isn't enough, I can have someone bring over more tomorrow."
Nolan slowly replied, "… It's fine. One is enough. Don't touch the rest for now."
Lawrence carefully cradled the wooden box with both hands, handling it with utmost reverence. As he gazed at the Bloodshade Blossom inside, he couldn't help but mutter, "What a shame it's only recently been cultivated. If it had aged a few more years, it could be used as medicine right away."
Eliza did, in fact, have older Bloodshade Blossoms, but now wasn't the time to bring them out.
Nolan didn't seem to mind in the slightest. "Finding the herb at all is already a blessing. The age? That's just a matter of waiting a few more years."
The way he said it made it clear—he had already fully accepted that the Bloodshade Blossom Eliza brought was exactly the one they had been searching for.
Lawrence felt much the same, but he couldn't rely on instinct alone as a doctor.
He needed to confirm the herb's properties first.
With that thought, Lawrence could no longer contain himself and said, "I'll test it right now!"
Two hours later, Lawrence came sprinting out of Prince Regent's estate pharmacy, waving the results in his hand as he shouted with joy, "It's a match! It's a perfect match!"
This was it. This was the Bloodshade Blossom they had been searching for all along!
At that moment, Nolan suddenly turned to look at Eliza.
After a few seconds of silent observation, a genuine smile spread across his handsome face. "Thank you, Serenity."
Once again, Serenity had brought him exactly what he needed most.
He owed her so much, more than he could ever repay.
And yet, the smile on Nolan's face only grew brighter as he thought, 'All the better.
''If I can't repay her… then I'll just dedicate my whole life to her.'
