                    Dylan had already set out.
Meanwhile, the Marquis's estate was bustling with activity.
Four hours earlier, Sophie had just fled the Duke's estate.
Terrified that her father might actually marry her off as someone's concubine, Sophie's first thought after leaving the Duke's estate was Caleb.
"I need to find Caleb! I have to find him now!" she cried out, her voice trembling with urgency.
Sophie stumbled and rushed all the way to the gates of the Marquis's estate.
By then, dawn had already broken.
The guards at the Marquis's estate immediately recognized Sophie as she approached, her disheveled appearance making her hard to miss. "Lady Sophie? What happened to you?"
Sophie, her face smeared with blood and her appearance utterly disheveled, cried out the moment she spotted someone from the Marquis's estate. "Quick! Get Caleb! Bring Caleb out here! Hurry!"
The guards at the Marquis's estate, well aware of their young master's feelings for Lady Sophie, didn't dare delay. They immediately rushed inside to summon Caleb.
"Sophie?" Caleb hobbled out, his steps uneven.
Ever since Dylan had broken his leg, he'd been confined to the estate, recovering.
But the moment he heard Sophie had arrived, he couldn't sit still. Seeing her in such a state, his heart clenched, and he was visibly shaken. "What happened? Who did this to you? Go get a doctor! Right now!"
Caleb barked the order, his voice sharp with urgency. Then, with great care, he supported Sophie and led her inside. "Come on, let's get you inside to rest."
Sophie leaned on Caleb for support, appearing frail and injured. As she took a step, she suddenly stumbled and fell straight into his arms.
Tears streamed down her face as she cried, "Caleb, it hurts so much! My face hurts so badly! If my face is ruined, will you still love me?"
Having the woman he adored throw herself into his arms like this, Caleb could not possibly resist.
Without hesitation, Caleb blurted out, "Of course I will! Why wouldn't I?
"I love you, Sophie. You can trust me on that. I'm not the kind of guy who only cares about looks!"
Sophie touched her face, tears falling as she sobbed, "I don't believe it. How could any man not care about a woman's beauty?"
But Caleb, full of conviction, replied, "I'm not like that! I only love you, Sophie, and I'd never abandon you just because of something like this."
To prove his sincerity, he raised three fingers and swore, "If I ever cared about something so shallow, let lightning strike me down!"
Sophie gently pressed a finger to his lips, her eyes filled with worry. "Don't say things like that, Caleb. I believe you, really. But please, don't make such scary vows again, it frightens me."
Hearing her soft and heartfelt words, Caleb felt his heart melt.
He grasped her hand tightly and vowed, "Don't worry, Sophie. As long as you trust me, I will never let you down!"
"Really?" Sophie's eyes lit up as she stared at him intently. "Then, Caleb, would you marry me?"
Caleb's face lit up with joy. "Of course I would! I'd marry you in a heartbeat!
"But my father might not agree to let me marry you. And then there's your parents. They're not on good terms with my father right now. If none of them approve, how could we ever be together?" As she spoke, Sophie's voice broke, and tears began to fall again.
Caleb held her hand tightly. "Don't be afraid, Sophie. As long as you're willing to marry me, I'll do whatever it takes to make it happen."
He brought Sophie into the Marquis's estate, warning the servants not to inform his parents. Then, he escorted her to his private courtyard.
