Eliza and her group turned around to see that the men closing in from behind were none other than the officials from Fort County.
Although Eliza hadn't seen the leader before, the familiar face made her immediately guess that he must be Chaim's father.
"This is the government, here to apprehend the murder suspect. Surrender immediately if you know what's good for you. Anyone who dares to resist will be executed on the spot!" Kyrie called out from his horseback, looking down at Eliza and the others with an arrogant sneer.
Nearly a hundred men blocked the way behind them, ensuring there was no escape, clearly determined to give them no room to maneuver.
Eliza narrowed her eyes slightly, giving a brief look toward the roof of the carriage. Luke instantly understood.
"Black Flag soldiers, clear the way, all you useless bystanders, get out of here!"
Luke's sharp command rang through the entire canyon, his voice carrying an authoritative force.
Upon hearing the words "Black Flag Army," the officials began to stir uneasily.
"What? The Black Flag Army?"
"Is it true?"
"The Black Flag Army? Isn't that the force led by the Prince Regent to quell the foreign invaders? What are they doing here?"
Seeing that most of the officials were still skeptical, Luke sneered and said, "The Black Flag Army's orders are clear, and you still dare to doubt?"
With that, he threw a token with a swift motion. It flew through the air and struck Kyrie directly in the forehead.
The force of the blow was so great it almost cracked his skull.
Kyrie, furious, grabbed the token, glanced at it briefly, and immediately threw it on the ground.
"How dare you!"
"What a fake token! Anyone foolish enough to use it to impersonate the Black Flag Army, seize them!"
Upon hearing Kyrie's words, the officials mistakenly believed the token wasn't real, and many of them drew their swords and charged forward.
"Damn it! This dog of a bureaucrat knows perfectly well what the Black Flag Army token looks like, he's just pretending not to recognize it."
Luke was furious.
Eliza, however, had already anticipated this. The reason she had Luke show the token was simply to give the ignorant officials a chance to realize the truth. The smart ones would figure it out, and the fools... well, that wasn't her problem.
"No mercy. Once we've captured that county magistrate, the rest will be no threat."
"Understood." Luke accepted the order and immediately charged forward like an arrow, heading straight for Kyrie on horseback.
The other Black Flag soldiers engaged the officials.
Of course, Eliza hadn't brought many Black Flag soldiers. A portion had been sent above, and there were fewer than twenty Black Flag soldiers in the canyon.
Against the hundreds of officials, it wouldn't take long before they were overwhelmed.
So Eliza decided to resolve this swiftly.
She turned to look at Korneel ahead and gave him a slight smile. "Mr. Boerkamp, how long are you going to sit back and watch? Aren't you planning to take action yet?"
Korneel grinned. "It's not every day I hear that the Black Flag Army is with you. I must admit, I'm curious. What exactly is your relationship with the Prince Regent? Are you Diana, or someone else?"
Eliza replied coldly, "There's no need to keep probing. Whatever you ask, I won't tell you."
Korneel raised an eyebrow. "In that case, I guess I'll just have to move you aside, and I'm sure you'll tell me everything you know when the time comes."
As he spoke, Rikkert surged forward, sword drawn, and aimed straight at Eliza's forehead.
But the moment he moved, Tina, who was on top of the carriage behind Eliza, didn't just stand by.
"You again," Rikkert hissed, glaring at Tina, who had once again blocked his sword.
Rikkert spat, "Last time I was caught off guard, but this time you're guaranteed to lose."
Tina simply responded, "A defeated foe."
Rikkert's rage flared. "You're asking for death."
The two of them clashed immediately.
Meanwhile, Rikkert's men, along with the other assassins Korneel had brought, moved to encircle Eliza, seeing that she was unprotected at this moment.
With enemies in front and behind, and overwhelming numbers against them, Eliza's group appeared trapped, with no way out.
"What's biting me?"
"What is this? Where did all these ants come from?"
"It hurts. These ants bite! It hurts so much!"
"Step on them! Step on them!"
"Wait, no! Damn it, why are there so many of them?"
As the fight raged on, suddenly a horde of ants swarmed out from both sides of the canyon.
These ants were a deep red, larger and stronger than ordinary ants, with the largest ones almost as big as Eliza's palm, and several others only slightly smaller.
Led by the biggest ants, the swarm surrounded both the attackers and the officials, quickly climbing up their shoes, over their bodies, and sinking their jaws deep into their flesh.
Within moments, the officials were completely covered in ants, screaming in agony and rolling on the ground in a desperate attempt to escape.
Kyrie, still on his horse, wasn't spared either.
As he and his horse fell to the ground, several large ants charged toward him, biting into his face.
"Monster! That woman's a monster! She's the one controlling these ants! Kill her!"
The remaining officials charged toward Eliza, but they soon realized that even Black Flag soldiers had trouble breaking through the line of defense.
The county magistrate and his men were quickly dealt with, and the assassins met a similarly grim fate.
Eliza's weapon of choice against them had been the venomous spiders she had already scattered throughout the canyon.
As soon as the assassins attacked, they were ensnared by invisible webs, and the venomous spiders were upon them.
Korneel watched in horror as his men fell one by one, the ants biting mercilessly and the spiders hanging ominously in the air.
With a calm yet tense expression, Korneel finally asked, "Fire ants, and spiders... these are methods of a sorcerer's control. Are you a sorcerer?"
As he asked, even Korneel seemed uncertain, his earlier conviction that Eliza couldn't be a sorcerer now wavering.
"No, this can't be," he muttered to himself.
"If she were a sorcerer, my King Parasite would have sensed it."
But the moment he thought that, a chilling realization crossed his mind—what if she had something more powerful than his King Parasite?
Yet that theory was quickly dismissed. If she truly had something more powerful, his King Parasite would have sensed it.
The problem could only lie with her.
With his eyes fixed on Eliza, Korneel asked in a strained voice, "Who exactly are you?"
