Evelyn and Sophia mapped out their plan with surgical precision. We'd arranged for Marcus to arrive first at Ryan's chosen hotel—posing as a cleaner to plant hidden cameras in the room before the confrontation.
My role? Play the terrified victim. Lure Ryan into handing over his phone, destroy his blackmail material, and secure evidence of his assault before calling the cops.
The second Marcus texted me the confirmation—Cameras live—I bolted to the hotel. For insurance, I'd duct-taped a switchblade to my inner thigh. Just in case Ryan decided tonight was his last chance to ruin me.
When Ryan kicked open the door, his eyes locked onto my short skirt like a starving dog spotting raw meat. He lunged, burying his face in my neck with a wet inhale.
"Evelyn," he groaned, fingers hiking up my hemline. "You have no idea how long I've waited for this."
His whiskey-sour breath made my stomach flip. As he clawed at his belt buckle, I ripped the knife free and pressed cold steel to his jugular.
"The video. Now," I spat. "This ends tonight. Either I walk out with that footage, or we both leave in body bags."
The blade bit into his skin. A scarlet trickle stained his collar.
"Jesus—okay!" He fumbled for his phone with shaking hands. "Take it! Delete whatever! Just—fuck—put the knife down!"
I kept the blade steady while scrolling through his gallery—until Ryan's sudden laughter prickled my spine.
"Something funny?" I hissed.
His grin turned feral. "Cute that you brought backup. But sweetheart..." His gaze flicked behind me. "Did you really think I didn't?"
The phone vanished from my grip.
Marcus.
He'd been lurking behind the curtains this whole time. Wrenching my arm backward, he exchanged a smirk with Ryan that turned my blood to ice.
"Surprise," Marcus drawled. "Ryan and I? We've been partners since day one."
My lungs locked. Sophia was right.
Marcus slammed me onto the mattress, zip-tying my wrists to the headboard. "Remember why I didn't touch you in the storage room?" His knee jammed between my thighs. "Couldn't risk DNA evidence. But now?" His breath scalded my ear. "Now I own you."
I bucked wildly—useless against his linebacker build. Ryan lunged, ripping my sleeve—
CRASH.
The door exploded inward.
Sophia stood framed in the doorway, cops swarming past her. Officers tackled Ryan and Marcus while Sophia sprinted to me, already working the zip ties.
We'd always suspected Marcus.
That's why we'd fed him the plan—to flush out both snakes at once. The "hidden" cameras? Decoys. Every word of their confession had streamed live to the police via the recorder sewn into my bra.
By dawn, Ryan and Marcus were expelled, fired, and facing felony charges. The university assigned Sophia and me a therapist specializing in trauma recovery.
