The next few days sped by in a haze of steamy nights and laughter filled days. Cole liked having Megan with him. As in he really, really liked it. Being with her was a whole new level of commitment he didn’t even realize was missing from his life. He’d asked her to move in, but she’d signed a monthly rental agreement and had three weeks left. But she’d said yes. and that meant everything.
“Hey, lily, when am I gonna meet your people?” he asked.
He parked carefully, making sure she had room to open the door on the crowded sidewalk. Megan didn’t answer until they got out of his truck and ambled up the stairs to her rental. She didn’t seem to like talking about her family or her Pride, but he understood little of the reason.
“I thought you knew some of the Pride already?” she asked.
“I’ve met Hunter and his mate. Brayden and Jessica, too. But what about your parents? Your siblings?”
“Oh,” she replied, pausing on the steps. “I hadn’t thought of that. Do your parents know about me?”
“Hell, yeah. I couldn’t wait to tell them I found my mate. They still ride with the original chapter of the DWMC, but they plan to swing by this summer to meet you,” he told her with a grin.
“Really? You told them about me?” she looked shocked, but happy. He kissed her quick, loving the taste of her happiness.
“Woman, I bragged about you for a whole twenty minutes. Mama wants you to design something pretty for the new bike I’m putting together for her. her favorite colors are purple and red.”
“Oh, I can do that! My folks moved to Florida. I told them when I contacted Uncle Uzzi, but everything has been so busy, I haven’t had the chance to give them an update. I’ll call them tonight,” she said with a shaky smile.
Cole frowned, following her inside the place. They stopped by every day, staying the night sometimes, but mostly just to box up her things and take them to the loft. He’d already gotten into the habit of calling it their place instead of his, and the possibilities that brought up were just endless. For now, the loft was perfect. But someday, he could see them in a house filled with laughter and love, and cubs. Tiger or Wolf, Cole didn’t care. He would love whatever they got, just like he loved her. Speaking of which, he reached out and grabbed her hand.
“Hey, I have to tell you something,” he growled, suddenly serious as he pulled her up against his body.
Megan’s response was immediate. She was so relaxed, melting into his body, wrapping her arms around his neck, and tipping her head back slightly. Gods, he loved how tall she was, how perfectly she fit against him. Her Tiger bright eyes glittered, and he cupped the back of her neck, kissing her hard and deep.
“I love you,” he said when he finished devouring her lips.
“Now? You say that to me now when I’m in sweats and we’re moving boxes,” she mock scolded, but he felt her hammering heartbeat and he knew she was happy.
Hell, he felt it in their matebond, saw it written all over her face. That was something else he loved about her. His tiger lily wore her heart on her sleeve. Fierce little badass never pulled her punches or held back with him. She just let him have it.
“Hell yeah, woman. I love you. I’ll say it anywhere you want as long as you know it in here,” he said, tapping the spot above her breast where her heart was still thumping away.
“It’s perfect, Cole. I love you, too,” she whispered, kissing him quick before scooting back. “Now, let’s get me moved in already.”
He nodded his head. Yep. He could do that. Megan worked on packing what was still floating about, and yeah, they had other trips to make, but today would see the bulk of it. He couldn’t wait.
Mine.
“Cole, can you grab that box? I’m going to get that external hard drive where I have some of my older designs backed up, and meet you downstairs, okay?”
She pointed to some more of her art supplies she’d packed last night before he’d started a tickle fight that ended with them doing the dirty up against the wall. Thank fuck for brick. They were moving here into the loft bit by bit since they had the time. Cole was mostly okay with the pace. As long as they spent their nights together, either at her place or his, everything else was just details.
“Sure. We callin’ it a day?” he asked.
“Yeah, I’m starving. That alright?”
“Of course, lily. Hurry up. let’s get home so I can feed you.”
“Sure thing,” he told her, swatting her ass as he passed by.
“Eeep!” Megan squeaked, and he grinned like the bastard he was.
Gorgeous woman still didn’t get it. She was like sex on legs. Pure desire just walking and talking, and he couldn’t get enough. Which was also fine with him. After all, he planned on being with her for the next hundred years or so. Until he closed his eyes for the last time, and hell, maybe even after that. Cole’s people had beliefs that transcended this physical plane.
If there was an afterlife, and he truly suspected there was, you could bet your bottom dollar Cole would be waiting for Megan there. Then they could spend eternity together. She was his person. His fated mate. The one being who made his blood sing, and his body hum with pure pleasure just knowing she was in the world.
Fuck, did he love her. And not just because she looked like a Valkyrie, fucked like a goddess, and was the best damn person he knew. He loved her because she was precious to him. She was everything and the only thing that mattered. Seeing her smile was like a drug, and hell yes, he was addicted.
Cole would do terrible things to make sure his woman was safe and happy. He was no hero. Cole wouldn’t sacrifice her for the greater good. HE would not sacrifice her period. Hell. He’d burn the whole fucking world down just to get to her, that was how committed he was.
Nah. No heroes here. Just us monsters, his Wolf growled with a snap of his maw.
Yep. He was a monster. But his tiger lily seemed fine with that. So, he wasn’t worried about it. He just carried down the box, and went back for more, thinking of the ways he was going to make her scream later that night. He added the box to the others in his trunk and leaned against the side.
