My mom was an incredible woman.
Even after dad ran off with the company funds, she managed to turn a near-bankrupt business into a success story.
I inherited her business sense.
When she passed away, I stepped into her shoes.
But I never told Patrick any of this.
He knew the company had gone under, but he had no clue what happened after that.
He still thought I was just some regular employee, not knowing I actually owned the place.
What he really didn't know was that I was the biggest investor in his gym.
I laughed.
"A gift? Sure, I'll send one."
"Her birthday's in a couple days. I'll make sure she gets something really special."
I could see right through Patrick asking me to buy Luna that ridiculously expensive bag - he wasn't just trying to butter her up, he was testing how much money I actually had.
Patrick looked me over with satisfaction, his tone softening a bit.
"That's more like it. You and Luna need to get along from now on. Stop picking fights with her."
"She's not petty - she won't hold grudges."
Seeing my attitude change, Patrick seemed totally at ease.
He didn't even bother coming home for the next two days.
I found time to swing by the gym.
The girl at the front desk quietly filled me in - Patrick had been spending every day "training" with Luna.
Patrick's gym didn't just have workout equipment - it had yoga studios too.
They weren't working out in the main area though.
Instead, they deliberately picked the private yoga room and stayed locked in there all day.
The implications were pretty damn obvious.
I made my way to the yoga room in the back.
As soon as I got to the door, I could hear sounds coming from inside that would make anyone blush.
Patrick was breathing hard:
"Damn, Luna, your skin's so soft and smooth."
"You're amazing too, Patrick. I don't think I can ever let you go."
Their conversation was explicit as hell - definitely not suitable for kids.
My face went dark.
What a pair of cheating scumbags.
I quietly cracked the door open and slipped my phone inside...
On her birthday, I was the last one to arrive.
Before I left, I'd hired a service to clear all of Patrick's stuff out of the house.
The place was mine - he didn't have jack shit to do with it.
As soon as I walked in, I saw a bunch of guys fawning over Luna.
She was sitting next to Leo.
Patrick deliberately kept his distance, but his eyes kept drifting over to Luna.
The way he looked at Leo was hostile as hell, like he was the one being cheated on.
Even though he was the homewrecker.
Didn't stop him from being possessive though.
Someone spotted me. "Oh look, the troublemaker's here."
Everyone went quiet, staring at me with hostile looks and fake smiles.
I knew this was bad news.
Sure enough, the next second, someone grabbed my hair and shoved me down in front of Luna.
Pain shot through my scalp as they yanked at my hair. I couldn't help but cry out.
Then Leo slapped me hard across the face twice.
"Apologize! Apologize to my girlfriend!"
They forced me to my knees in front of Luna. I looked like absolute hell.
Patrick just sat there watching the whole show.
Luna put on her understanding act:
"Wynne, just say you're sorry. I'm pretty forgiving - as long as you're sincere, I won't hold it against you."
"Apologize? You don't deserve shit."
I spat right in her face.
Luna's face went white with shock, and she slapped me.
Yet she was the one who started crying like her heart was broken:
"Why do you have to treat me like this? What did I ever do to you?"
Leo kicked me. "Bitch."
Patrick's reaction was even more over the top than Leo's.
He shot up, rushed over, grabbed me by the throat and slammed me to the ground.
My forehead hit the table corner, and warm blood instantly covered half my face.
"You just won't learn, will you?"
Patrick pulled out his phone.
"Look at this nasty piece of work. She's so dirty herself, she has to drag other women down with her."
I couldn't see what was on the screen clearly.
But I could hear the sounds coming from it - sultry moaning that would set anyone on fire.
Luna covered her mouth in shock:
"Multiple guys... and one woman... and the woman is Wynne!"
