Patrick's voice was shaking:
"I'll get them to clarify everything - we can still fix this."
"You think there's time for that?"
I gave him a cold smile. "In the internet age, your clarification speed can't keep up with how fast netizens spread shit."
Patrick left saying "I'll make this right, just don't call the cops."
Later I found out he went to find Luna.
They had a huge fight.
But then somehow made up.
To appease me, Patrick voluntarily paid me some money.
Not much - just 200 grand.
Barely enough to cover a few years of rent for himself.
I wasn't in a hurry to call the police.
Instead, I collected all this evidence to deal with it all at once later.
Later, the private investigator I hired told me they went to the hospital for an amniocentesis that day.
The results showed the baby in Luna's belly was Patrick's.
Half a month later, my lawyer messaged me.
"The lawsuit has been filed. Patrick will receive a subpoena in a few days."
"Good, thanks for your hard work."
The investigation revealed Patrick had been pulling a lot of shit behind the scenes.
Six months ago, when the gym was expanding, Patrick took out a 5 million loan in my name.
This loan was still under my name.
Looking at the documents, I was furious.
Not only that, but the gym had huge amounts of money flowing into Patrick's overseas accounts over the past six months.
While I, as the majority shareholder, got nothing and was stuck with a bunch of debt.
Embezzlement, defamation, document forgery...
Each charge was enough for jail time.
Three days later, I went to the gym with Reed.
Luna was acting like the lady of the house, looking at me with complete disdain.
"What are you doing here? You're not welcome."
"Who do you think you are? People might think you're Patrick's wife." I mocked her.
Luna proudly stuck out her slightly swollen belly, raising her eyebrows in challenge.
She thought she had it made.
But she was getting greedy - even now she wouldn't break up with Leo.
Leo didn't have much money, but he was generous with Luna.
His salary, minus living expenses, all went to Luna.
So even now, Luna was still bleeding that sucker Leo dry.
Leo had been on a business trip recently, so she and Patrick were openly together.
Patrick appeared at that moment.
He anxiously stepped between us, afraid I'd hurt Luna.
"What are you doing here? Didn't I say I'd make this right?"
"Besides, Luna already deleted those posts. Why do you have to be so aggressive?"
Reed and I exchanged glances.
Reed understood and stepped forward.
"Hello, I'm Wynne Danning's attorney. From now on, I'll be handling all matters related to Ms. Danning's case."
"Case?" Luna was annoyed. "We were just joking around last time. Didn't I delete the posts?"
Reed smiled and shook her head.
She handed Patrick a document.
"Regarding your domestic violence, document forgery, and embezzlement—"
"What the hell are you talking about!"
Patrick frantically interrupted Reed.
He looked at me with suspicion and alarm.
Only then did he realize things had taken a turn for the worse.
Originally he'd planned to trick me out of all my money after marriage, then find a way to get rid of me.
He thought I was deeply in love with him.
After the birthday incident, he knew I'd have some reservations, but if he sweet-talked me enough, I'd still forgive him.
