~DELSANRA ~
Liam… is not entirely wrong. I sigh softly, knowing Rayhan would definitely be angry. Alejandro has a soft spot for Raihana, but Rayhan will be harsher. He has a temper and there are certain things he will not tolerate. Plus, Liam is his best friend, and he always respects his views.
sit down, running my fingers through my hair. It’s been an hour since I spoke to Liam and I saw Raihana. She was quieter when we were in Kataleya’s hospital room. I’m currently in the hospital lounge, taking a moment.
I know Ri, and I know she would never use her powers with the wrong intentions. Everything she does is to help others. If she wanted, she could have asked to see Chris a thousand times. She could have asked for me to help her go to the veil even, but she has never done that.
I’ve seen the woman she has become, and even without her mate by her side, she is there for Heaven and Tatum. Even when I know it is hard for her, she smiles at them and makes sure she doesn’t become like her mother.
Mama Mari was so damn strong, but we all saw the effect it had on her. With Ri, she’s carried on, and when she isn’t alone you won’t see her drifting off into her own world. You won’t hear her crying at night.
She told me once, a long time ago, that seeing her mother broken was hard, and that is the very reason she didn’t want to let it break her, for them.
And I know children are very intuitive, and she knows that too. She talks to them and tells them when she’s having a bit of a hard day. Yet she carries on and never shows them to any extent something that would worry them, yet by doing so, at the same time she’s teaching them it’s ok to show your emotions, to have down days and to talk about them.
It’s not fair for Liam to assume so much about her.
Yes, maybe we shouldn’t have, but it was just as much my choice as hers. But in all – honestly, Raihana is a damn queen, and I don’t care who wants to come fight me. She is the most incredible woman I have met, and I swear if Rayhan says shit to her- “Whoa, Mama, you look so angry. Why the scary red eyes?” Ahren whispers from behind me, making me jump.
“Ahren! Don’t jump at me like that! Your Uncle Liam annoyed me,” I frown.
“I love how when someone’s angry at someone, they suddenly become related to me…” he says slyly.
“Well, he is your dad’s beloved friend,” I grumble unhappily.
“My Dad…” he snickers then gives me an innocent look. “Want me to beat up my uncle’s sons for you? You know, revenge?” he whispers as he hugs me from behind.
I smile, “No, don’t go bullying anyone. I doubt they’ll be bullied by you, anyway. They’re big boys,” I say, placing my hand over his arm and looking up at him.
“Oh, you have no idea what I can do. I mean, imagine your clothes go missing from the locker room… or you know, you’re suddenly transported into the middle of nowhere,” he whispers, making me chuckle.
“Thank you, but no thank you.”
He simply grins. “Well, the option is there. I could sneak them into an off-limits space and then get the caretaker or headmaster to find them. Oh, the choices are endless.”
I chuckle, shaking my head, but both of us know he’s succeeded in cheering me up.
“Kiara’s here,” Liam says as he enters the room.
“Already?” I ask, surprised but relieved as Ahren moves back and offers me a hand; I take it as I stand up.
Liam nods, “Yeah. Ahren, mind going ahead? I’ve texted Royce. Me and your mother will follow soon.”
He nods. “Sure, play nice, Uncle,” he says, patting Liam’s arm on his way out.
Liam sighs and looks at me. “I’m sorry if I upset you, but you do understand why I said what I did, don’t you?”
Nodding, I brush my hair back. “I do. I know you, Liam, but I think you misunderstand Ri a little. She really just wanted to help.”
He looks down as if thinking over my words. I walk over to him and pat his arm, giving him a small smile before I murmur an ” excuse me” and go to welcome Kiara.
We had gone to the hospital as soon as possible. Raihana and I tried to heal Kat with magic, but it didn’t work.
The wound is tainted with something more. And I’m afraid to say it out loud, but I personally don’t think even Kiara will be able to fix it. Somehow, the memories of the past come back to me, back when she was unable to heal Dante or me.
But I also think Kataleya will wake up soon. She is strong, and she is a chosen ruler.
My phone rings and my heart skips a beat when Rayhan’s name pops up on the screen. Turning, I slip into the closest room and close the door behind me.
“Rayhan.”
“I have called you several times. Don’t make me go crazy with worry like that. At least tell me you’re ok. You know I need to hear your voice to know you’re ok, Kitten,” his deep sexy voice comes, one that still makes my heart flutter, just like it did from the very beginning.
“I’m sorry, a lot has happened; I’ll try not to do that again,” I promise.
“Make sure you don’t, or I might need to punish you, Kitten.”
I bite my lip. That doesn’t sound so bad…
“I’ll try,” I whisper before I try to focus. “Kiara and the others have just landed. Kat’s still the same.” Skyla had done a report earlier of the basics of what was going on.
“Ah, great. Leo did say they’ll get there without an issue. Uncle really didn’t want to let Kiara go alone.”
My eyes widen a little. “He hasn’t come?”
“No… he wanted to go, but Leo was against it. I don’t think he’s wrong. Royce and Liam are there, and Enrique is an alpha. It would look like we’re undermining him if any more of us went, especially since his opinions of the Rossis isn’t… the best.” Rayhan says.
That’s when I realise no Rossi alpha is here, well, aside from my mischievous son. A wise move, one even I hadn’t realised. 1 “Leo isn’t wrong. Alejandro can be quite full on.” I admit. “And Enrique is already struggling with a lot. He loves her and cares for her, I can see that, but it’s not that easy.”
So it’s good Leo made that decision.
“Yeah, it never really is. Leo’s been on the receiving side of the Rossis trying to butt into everything. He made some points that even Uncle couldn’t brush off.” He chuckles. “He’s made for this king business, even if he hates it.”
“He really is, and I love how he applies the rules to himself, too.”
“Mama?” I hear Ahren calling.
“I better go, I love you, My Sexy Yum Yum.”
“Alright, I love you. Take care of yourself and call me tonight.” I smile at that command… a call with Rayhan… I know what that means.
“I look forward to it,” I say before I end the call and head to the hospital room. I stop outside the door to see Raihana pacing; Skyla has her arms around herself. Two of Leo’s men, Li Sheng and Ace, are here. All of them are wearing grave expressions. “What is it?” I ask.
Ace shakes his head. “I’m afraid it failed; the Queen’s healing didn’t work on whatever injured her. I glance through the open door at Kiara holding Kataleya’s hand as Liam stands beside her, a hand on his sister’s shoulder. Her other hand is still on her daughter’s hip, the purple glow of her power still there as she continues to try…
As I feared.
Something that is not of this world – A wound inflicted by something from the otherworld, Kiara can’t heal it.
This means once that barrier is down, we are going to be far more vulnerable than I had imagined, because even the Blessed Wolf’s healing will not protect us.
