                    ~ KATALEYA ~
My eyes flutter open, and I wonder what woke me as the sun has barely risen and I feel so comfortable in his arms. I inhale my Enrique’s scent and smile happily. There is another knock on the door and I internally pout. I don’t want to get up.
“It’s the doctor,” Enrique says, his voice thick and so sexy as he kisses the top of my head before he sits up. Leaning over me, he brushes my hair off my face. “How are you feeling?”
“Tired, but good,” I reply, smiling softly.
“You can go back to sleep once she’s checked you over,” he replies, kissing my lips softly before reluctantly pulling away. Enter.”
I blush when he gets off the bed, and the tent in his pants is very obvious.
“Enrique!” I whisper, motioning with my eyes to the front of his pants as the door opens. He glances down before shamelessly smirking.
“And?” he asks cockily, making my cheeks heat up.
I don’t reply as the doctor looks me over. “Luna Kataleya, I am Doctor Elena. I will just check your vitals.”
“Umm, I’m not Luna…” I glance at Enrique, wondering why she addressed me as Luna.
“Maybe you aren’t officially the Luna, but you have always been mine. Besides, I wear your mark and one day soon you will wear mine,” Enrique says as Doctor Elena smiles up at me.
“I think we all could see that the Alpha had chosen his Luna for quite a while now.” She bows deeply to Enrique as if apologising for overstepping with her remark.
“Before he could see it even!” Carlos’ voice comes from the hallway, making me giggle.
“Cabrón, shut it!” Enrique growls.
He smirks at me before he sits down in the armchair and once again my eyes take a peek at the front of his pants.
How naughty and shameless… it is clear he isn’t bothered that anyone can see he is rock hard, and even Doctor Elena is pretending not to have noticed it. I’m grateful for that. I would die if she commented on it!
She now looks at me. “You must be hungry; I will have someone bring food-”
“I’ve already told Sofia; she will bring food from the packhouse.” Enrique cuts in.
“Thank you anyway,” I say to Elena politely. “I do want to shower, though. Am I able to leave the hospital soon?” “You may shower after I have done my checks. As for when you can leave, ideally I’d like you to stay for another day at least. We will perform a scan to see if the remnant of the… poison is left behind.”
“I think there is a little,” Enrique says, now sitting forward, his eyes glowing gold. “And it’s deep within her.”
“We need water placed under the full moon…” I trail off when Enrique shakes his head.
“That was the first thing the doctors tried. We also would have tried to let them bleed out, but it wasn’t the same. The poison or darkness – whatever you want to call it, was more like a sticky glue, you can say. It wasn’t coming off, it was clinging to you and not budging. I managed to burn most of it away, but some small pieces were embedded deep within you, almost fully merged with your internal organs.” He frowns as he looks away.
“May I take a look?” Doctor Elena asks.
I nod, laying back down on the pillow. Enrique gets up and comes over, the guilt in his eyes making me sad. I don’t want him to blame himself.
Doctor Elena covers me from the waist down before she slides my hospital gown up to expose my stomach and waist area. ” The skin… you can see it; do you think perhaps if we were to create incisions precisely where the remnants are left that perhaps you could get rid of them entirely?” she glances up at Enrique. “Or because they are so close to her organs, do you think you wouldn’t be able to channel your ability and thus making it a great risk?” she asks Enrique in Spanish. “That is what I feared. I was already burning the parts where I could see them, but I don’t want to put her at risk-”
“Wait…” I sit up. “How did you get rid of them?”
“I burned it away.”
“With flames created by magic,” I finish.
He nods as my heart skips a beat. “Magic cannot harm me; I think you could get rid of the rest of it.”
Frowning, he shakes his head. “I smelt your flesh burning.”
“I think you smelt the darkness burning. It isn’t a liquid, it’s more a living organism. I think this might work.”
He looks worried, but as our eyes meet, he knows we have to. Both of us knowing we can’t allow it to remain inside of me. “Maybe we could try,” he says quietly, looking at Elena.
I nod as he then turns back to me, observing me intently, as if torn between wanting to help me yet scared he’d harm me. “We will schedule a full scan, and with that guidance we can locate the areas where the darkness has attached itself. We can then target those areas individually to minimise the pain it will cause her,” Elena says to Enrique, who nods.
“Sounds like a plan. Her family will be here soon, and then after she’s eaten we can attempt that once it’s been determined,” he says, running his fingers through his curls.
My sexy Papi…
I blush when he cocks a perfect brow, and I look away shyly.
Elena nods. “We’ll get the operating table ready, and everything we need prepared in the meantime. Don’t worry, we’ll fix this, Luna. One way or another.” She’s a determined doctor.
“Thank you, Doctor,” I say gratefully.
She smiles at me before leaving and I push the blanket off, pulling my gown down, ready to go to the bathroom to shower when Enrique stops me.
“Take it easy, Mi Amor.” With those words, he scoops me up and carries me to the bathroom. I lock my arms around his neck, my gaze falling to his mark. My breath hitches and suddenly I feel overwhelmed with emotions.
My Kiké is wearing my mark.
He is mine.
