With all these bodyguards, Lucas thought, 'Who'd be dumb enough to try anything?'
"We need to get out of here now. There's definitely someone lurking in the shadows," Lucas said with controlled calmness, analyzing the situation.
"Get in the car, now! Hurry!" Arielle urged, her instincts screaming that danger was near.
In wordless sync, they headed for the backup car.
Just as they were about to reach for the car door handle, suddenly, the rapid thud of footsteps echoed from all directions.
A group of burly men, armed with metal pipes and bats, swarmed out from the surrounding shadows.
Lucas had eight bodyguards, but the attackers numbered a full twenty.
The bodyguards shielded Lucas and Arielle behind them. "Mr. Walter," one of the bodyguards yelled, "you two need to leave now! We'll handle this!"
Without hesitation, Lucas grabbed Arielle and headed for the car.
As Lucas reached for the car door, he realized it wouldn't budge.
He tugged again, but it still wouldn't move.
'Locked?' he thought, anger flaring inside him.
Furious, he raised his foot and kicked the door hard.
The door shook under the heavy impact, but it remained firmly shut.
"It's no use," Arielle hissed, leaning in. "There's a traitor in your team."
At those words, Lucas's pupils contracted sharply.
He glanced at the locked car door, now it all clicked.
'So that's how it is,' he realized.
Lucas stared at Arielle in stunned admiration, thinking, 'How is she this sharp? If it weren't for her tonight, I'd probably be done for.'
"We're probably surrounded now. Too many of them, this is bad. Phones are dead. I'll cover you. When I say go, run," Lucas said grimly, his eyes locked on the figures closing in.
Lucas was fully aware of the danger, yet remained composed. The future heir of the Walter family wasn't just for show.
They had no idea who they were up against. Their only option was to get out of here fast.
They had no time to react.
Without a word, the attackers sprang into action.
They all brandished their weapons.
With a menacing roar, they charged straight at Lucas and Arielle.
"Hit 'em hard, boys!" the leader barked.
Instantly, the night erupted with battle cries, thundering footsteps, and the clash of steel.
Lucas and Arielle joined their bodyguards in the fray.
Fists cut through the air with lightning speed, as they exchanged fierce blows with their attackers in a back-and-forth fight.
Arielle moved with lightning speed, delivering a crushing punch to her opponent's head that left Lucas utterly dumbfounded.
These guys were no ordinary thugs. They were all highly trained professionals.
Their attacks were ruthless and precise.
Every move went straight for the kill.
This was Lucas's first assassination attempt, he was still in shock.
'Who the hell did I piss off to deserve this?' he wondered, a chill running down his spine.
The attackers weren't holding back, clearly aiming to wipe us out.
Arielle faced the onslaught head-on, her gaze razor-sharp. With crisp, precise movements, she slipped past every attack, dodging each strike with practiced, lethal grace.
Seeing that they still couldn't subdue Arielle, the attackers exchanged a quick glance.
Immediately, half of them broke off and charged forward, sprinting ahead at full speed.
The rest continued to engage Arielle and Lucas in fierce combat.
Within seconds, a sudden, piercing roar of engines erupted from behind.
Blinding high beams flared forward.
Arielle's heart skipped a beat.
'Damn it!' she thought.
"Get in the car, now!" Arielle shouted, grabbing Lucas by the arm.
Without hesitation, she pulled him and they sprinted toward the bodyguard vehicle parked ahead.
It was clear that the other driver intended to ram them with the car.
Just as they turned, Arielle whirled around with lightning speed, her fist connecting hard with one of Lucas's bodyguards and sending him crashing to the ground.
Lucas yelled, "He's on our side!"
"Traitor," Arielle snapped.
A strangled cry escaped Lucas's throat.
With no time to react, he could only match Arielle's frantic pace as they dashed forward.
In mere seconds, Arielle and Lucas had sprinted to the car.
