"Boss, Lucas took the woman. Our car was wrecked, and most of our men didn't make it. Only nine of us are still alive."Lucas Walter
Georgie froze. "Lucas Walter? Since when did those two get involved with each other?"
Georgie was losing his mind. The Walter family's power in Haskium was immense. They weren't the kind of people he could afford to cross.
Georgie thought furiously, 'Damn! No wonder Arielle dared to threaten me, she's got the whole Walter family backing her up!'
One of the team members reported, "Yes, Mr. Tate, Lucas is looking into us."
"Clean this up completely, leave no traces behind."
"Yes, Mr. Tate."
After hanging up the phone, Georgie flopped onto the sofa.
He'd really screwed up this time. Now he had no choice but to hand over that the Golden District.
Desperate for help, Georgie immediately dialed his mother's number.
His mom would scold him, but she'd always bail him out.
Almost instantly, sharp reprimands blasted through the phone. Georgie quickly pulled the device away from his ear and switched on the speakerphone.
No matter what his mother said or how she scolded him, he meekly accepted it all.
He pinned all the blame squarely on Arielle.
Putting on his most pitiful act, he wailed, "Mom, you have no idea how awful that woman is. She totally set me up! It's all my fault for being so useless and falling for her tricks. Mom, I really messed up big this time. I can't face you or Dad anymore... I am is just going to end it all, so I won't bring any more shame to the family."
With that, he shot the bodyguard beside him a look.
The shrewd bodyguard immediately played along, shouting dramatically from inside, "Mr. Tate, put down the knife! Don't do anything rash!" Then, feigning panic, he gasped, "Oh God! Mr. Tate, you're bleeding so much!"
The woman on the other end of the line abruptly changed her tone, her earlier fury melted into panicked concern.
"Son, don't do anything foolish! Mom will help you. Put down the knife, listen to me," his mother pleaded. Then, her voice breaking into a desperate scream to the bodyguard, "Quick, wrest the knife away from him!"
The bodyguard said, "Mrs. Tate, there's only a little over an hour left. If we don't do something, they'll livestream it to the whole world and expose Mr. Tate as a promise-breaker. That's why he's become so desperate...
"No, Mr. Tate! You've already cut your left wrist, don't cut your right one too! Let go! Mrs. Tate has agreed to send you the money!"
Georgie said, "You're lying! Mom might love me to death, but there's no way she'd ever agree to this. It's one billion dollars we're talking about!"
On the other end of the line, the woman immediately ordered the bodyguard, "Hand the phone to Georgie, now!"
She had no idea the call was on speakerphone and genuinely thought her son was about to take his own life.
Georgie lounged on the sofa, legs casually crossed, and called out into the phone with feigned distress, "Mom!"
The broken, strained cry in his voice wrenched at the woman's heart.
"I'll have the accountant wire you the money immediately! Now, go to the hospital and get that wound treated, don't you dare do anything foolish, you hear me?" Georgie's mother cried out desperately.
"Alright, Mom... I got it..." Georgie said, his voice trailing off slightly.
Georgie quickly hung up and let out a long sigh of relief.
Georgie fumed inwardly, 'Damn it, I'm so pissed off. It's all that bitch Arielle's fault!
'Good thing Mom spoils me, she always comes through with the cash when I need it.'
Without a second's hesitation, he dialed Gavin's number.
At exactly 7:50 PM, Georgie personally delivered Golden District deed transfer contract to Arielle.
Arielle carefully reviewed every page of the contract. Once she was sure everything was in order, she tucked the paperwork under her arm and walked out without another word.
Not a word was spoken the entire time.
Georgie was seething with rage, his fingers twitching with the urge to lash out at that woman.
He thought, 'This woman's got some serious backing. Who knows if her protectors are lurking in the shadows?
'Fine, I'll let it go for now. But I'll find another chance to make her pay, slowly and thoroughly.'
Georgie now harbored a deep grudge against Gavin. If it weren't for Gavin's stubborn refusal to hand over Golden District, he wouldn't be in such a tight spot.
Arielle returned to her bedroom, a darkly triumphant smile playing on her lips.
She now has hundreds of millions of dollars in cash reserves, plus two prime land parcels under her name.
Arielle thought darkly, 'Just you wait, Gavin, Meredith, your payback is coming!
'What's next on my revenge list?
'Should I snatch away what Meredith cherishes most?
'Or should I just send them both straight to hell?
'No, where's the fun in that?
'One suffers, while the other gets a front-row seat to the show! Now that's true love!'
