The girls, in particular, went pale with terror, some scrambling onto their chairs as their faces drained of color.
"Oh my god, rats!" one girl shrieked, leaping onto her desk.
"They're coming this way! I'm going to die!" another cried out in panic.
"Help! Somebody do something!" a third echoed as the classroom was filled with a chorus of panicked screams.
Yet, Arielle, who everyone expected to be terrified of rats, remained completely calm, her expression impassive and indifferent from start to finish.
Rats were the least of her fears.
Back when she was living on the streets, she'd slept alongside them for countless nights.
Curled up in dark, damp corners, surrounded by swarms of rats, fear was a stranger to her, even then.
The most frightening thing to her was always the human heart.
Chaos erupted in the classroom.
One of the boys rushed to open the door.
But even with the exit wide open, the panicked rats kept darting wildly around the room, showing no sign of leaving.
"Arielle, it wasn't us! Celeste did it!" one of the girls shrieked in terror.
Soon, more and more students were pointing fingers at Celeste Love, blaming him for releasing the rats.
Celeste was Sophia's desperate simp, though she never gave him any attention.
This was his pathetic attempt to avenge his goddess.
Celeste glared menacingly at the girl who had spoken up.
The girl snapped back indignantly, "What are you staring at me for? Didn't you think about the consequences? Now we're all in trouble because of you!"
Seeing this, Celeste had no choice but to take out the cage and place some food the mouse liked inside.
In less than two minutes, the mouse was successfully caught in the cage.
Arielle gave the overturned desk a swift kick, then strode straight toward Celeste. With everyone watching in stunned silence, she suddenly lashed out and landed a solid kick on him, catching him completely off guard.
The kick hit Celeste squarely, leaving him no chance to react.
"You..." Celeste's voice trailed off, his anger barely contained.
He was seething with rage but too intimidated to speak up.
Then everyone watched as Arielle grabbed Celeste's desk and dragged it over to her own spot, not hesitating for a second.
Celeste was stunned at first, then snapped out of it and demanded, "Hey! That's my desk! What the hell are you doing?"
"You dirtied mine. We're switching," Arielle shot back, her tone brooking no argument.
Celeste still couldn't help feeling a bit intimidated by her.
The way she beat someone up yesterday was still vivid in his mind. And just now, she had kicked him, too.
And just now, she had kicked him, too.
He just wanted to scare her and wouldn't dare try anything more extreme.
After setting the desk in place, Arielle strode up to Celeste, fixing him with a cold stare. "You think this is funny?" she said icily.
Standing tall in front of his crush, Celeste puffed out his chest, completely convinced he had done nothing wrong. He thought indignantly, 'Arielle beat someone up yesterday and got away scot-free, even made the victim apologize to her. What kind of justice is that? I was just teaching her a lesson. If anything, I'm the hero.'
Just when everyone expected Arielle to start hitting people again, she calmly turned away.
"Holy shit! Celeste tried to scare her like that and she didn't even flinch. Is there something we don't know about her?" one student whispered.
Another chimed in, "Maybe she's just not afraid of rats. She probably thinks it's no big deal, not even worth getting mad about."
Someone else muttered, "How is she not scared at all? She's not afraid of snakes or rats. Is she even a girl?"
One girl shuddered with goosebumps, instinctively clinging to a classmate in shock.
Olivia Davis and the rest of her crew held up their phones, cameras rolling.
They were all set to capture Arielle's humiliation and post it online.
But to their astonishment, nothing happened.
By now, most of Class 1 had to admit they were in awe of her. She was simply formidable.
On the other side, Perla and her friends, who had been staring at their phone screens, were left completely stunned.
"The plan failed!" Perla exclaimed.
"No way! Even this couldn't get to her?" another girl gasped in disbelief.
