At this moment, Melinda's face slowly contorted.
William thought bitterly, 'I should never have given in to my mother and married her. This is the worst mistake of my life.
'Melinda is completely unhinged.'
When they first got married, she started controlling his every move.
He had to be available 24/7, subject to constant location checks, and she even installed a GPS tracker on his phone.
Once, when he was meeting a client at a hotel, Melinda saw his location and, without a word, stormed in furiously and gave the client a serious beating.
No women were permitted in his life, not friends, colleagues, or even domestic staff.
Every secretary, assistant, and domestic staff member working for him was male.
William felt like he was suffocating. He wanted to ask her to give him some space.
Meanwhile, Melinda was convinced that he didn't love her anymore.
They might have had a chance to fall in love after marriage, but her actions only drove him further and further away.
He'd filed for divorce twice, but each time she threatened to hurt herself.
She even issued a chilling warning, "If you divorce me, you'll only get my corpse."
Under Melinda's pleading and Sally's gentle persuasion, William reluctantly relented and sat back down.
With his mother present, he couldn't show his anger.
In the end, he reluctantly agreed to accompany Melinda to the movies.
"Fine, why don't you come with us, Mom?" William suggested tactfully.
Sally saw right through his ploy and waved her hand. "You young people go have fun. Movie theaters are too loud, it's bad for my heart."
Melinda was so thrilled she could barely contain herself.
She thought, 'My husband is actually going shopping and to the movies with me, for the first time ever! Does this mean he's finally starting to accept me? It must be!'
Melinda looped her arm through Sally's and said sweetly, "Mom, when William and I get back, we'll bring you something to eat. Don't you love ravioli? We'll pick some up for you later."
Overjoyed, Melinda was especially affectionate toward Sally.
Sally beamed from ear to ear. "Wonderful! I'll save some room for the ravioli you bring me."
William was glad to see his mother so happy and quickly chimed in, "Anything else you'd like? We can bring it back for you."
Sally gave her son a look. "You should learn from Melinda. Is that how you ask someone?
"Alright, just bring me a few ravioli. That's enough for me.
"Go get ready, you two."
"Alright," William nodded in agreement.
Melinda's face was absolutely beaming. "Darling, I'm going upstairs to change. Wait for me, okay?" she said, unable to hide her excitement.
"Sure," her husband replied gently.
Seeing her husband being so sweet, Melinda bashfully hurried upstairs, her heart fluttering with joy.
Back in her room, she eagerly rummaged through the closet for the perfect outfit for the date.
After picking out her clothes, she carefully applied her makeup.
Just as Melinda was about to head out, the phone rang.
She picked it up.
A man's voice came through, low and cautious, "Melinda, I've made the arrangements on my end. Are you bringing the package over yourself, or should I come pick it up?"
Melinda suddenly remembered that she had an errand she was supposed to run today.
But Sally and her husband had come back so unexpectedly, completely throwing her off.
But she couldn't back out now, she'd already made all the arrangements.
She thought, 'Only by getting rid of that wretched girl could my relationship with my husband improve.
'Only then would he truly accept me.'
Melinda paused before responding, "Keep your cool. There've been complications today, I need to go out. You'd better come collect the package yourself."
The man's voice dropped to a whisper. "Melinda, what's going on? Is there trouble?"
Melinda turned to the window, gazing out as a sinister smirk curled on her lips.
"Don't worry," she said coolly, "Just follow my orders. Come back in an hour, and make it clean, leave no traces."
