Arielle hesitated. "As for racing, I'm still underage, so that wouldn't really be fair. And as for fighting, it wouldn't be very honorable for a man like you to beat me. That only leaves cards and horse racing."
Arielle's words made the sense of superiority in Georgie's heart instantly overflow.
Racing was his strongest suit.
No one could match his driving skills.
Georgie was the black sheep of the Tate family, the son who never amounted to anything.
All he ever did was party, drink, and waste his days away, never doing anything productive.
But his driving skills were his proudest asset, the one thing that truly set him apart.
His prowess behind the wheel earned him the admiration of many, finally shedding his reputation as the family's good-for-nothing.
Even his strict father, who rarely offered praise, acknowledged that he had brought honor to the Tate family.
Georgie thought, 'But Arielle was right, racing her wouldn't be fair. She's still underage, and for me, a seasoned driver, to take on a kid? That'd be a cheap win. Not my style at all.
'Fighting? That's completely off the table.
'No real man would ever hit a woman.
'If we race horses and she happens to fall and get hurt, it'd really break my heart to see such a beauty in pain.
'That only leaves card games.
'When it comes to cards, I dare say no one can beat me.
'So far, I've only ever lost once.
'But losing to the Gambling King? No shame in that.'
With that thought, Georgie smirked and said, "How about we settle this with a game of cards?"
This was exactly the trap Arielle had laid for him.
It was no surprise that Georgie chose cards.
Georgie flashed a sly smile. "How about we find somewhere private to... get to know each other a little better?"
Arielle looked at Georgie and said calmly, "Fine, but you'll have to prove your worth first. Win, and I'll agree to your terms. But if you lose..."
Georgie froze for a moment, then burst into uncontrollable laughter.
"What a goddamn joke!" he scoffed. "Me? Lose?"
In Konis stood a massive casino.
And that casino belonged to none other than the Tate family.
At this thought, Georgie couldn't help but let a smug grin slowly spread across his face.
Georgie thought smugly, 'Even the legendary Cloud Nine in Haskium modeled its countless gambling games after our family's casino in Konis! When it comes to experience and expertise in this field, no family can hold a candle to ours!'
He swelled with pride at the empire his family had built.
"Don't look down on me. We haven't even started gambling yet. I'm just itching to see what you're made of, Mr. Tate," Arielle said nonchalantly.
"Fine! Name your stakes, anything I've got is on the table," he said confidently.
Arielle appeared to be deep in thought as she casually glanced around.
"I really can't think of anything you can't do. This is Golden District, after all. If you lose..."
Arielle paused meaningfully. "This plot of land looks quite valuable. If I win, the land in the Golden District will be mine. Tell me, Mr. Tate, do you actually have the authority to decide that?"
Arielle shot Gavin a subtle, unreadable glance, giving nothing away.
Gavin said, "Such nerve! You think you can just demand whatever you want? Do you even know what Golden District..."
Georgie waved off Gavin with a dismissive gesture. In terms of sheer power, the Tate family was leagues above the Boone family.
If there was something he wanted, anything money could buy, he would get it.
Georgie burst out laughing.
He was mocking her for not knowing her place, for the sheer nerve she had.
'She actually thinks she can challenge me to a card game?' he scoffed, incredulous.
Georgie turned sideways, raised an eyebrow at Gavin. "This land belongs to the Boone family, right? I want it. Name your terms."
Gavin froze, stunned. He couldn't believe what Georgie had just said.
He thought, 'Georgie just casually demands the Golden District land. Does he even understand the implications of this?
'Sure, the Boone family benefited from their alliance with the Tate family, but we can't treat this so lightly.'
