Ani POV
I was brewing tea for Cassie, since she was having a coughing fit. The doctor said the tuberculosis doesn't seem to be leaving, but it isn't infectious anymore. Cassie has to take a few medications and go to visit the doctors quite often. Outside of a cough, a headache, and fatigue, Cassie is still her smiling happy self. She refuses to talk about the disease and just pretends that it doesn't exist.
The twins have been keeping her busy with their high school events and Cassie sadly missed Jaelynn to giving birth. Jaelynn had a baby girl and named her Claude Meryl Wong... she literally used my last name as Claude's middle name. She's come over with Claude when we were hundred percent sure that Cassie was no longer infectious. Cassie dotes on her and spoils her rotten with cute things.
Just yesterday we got five amazon packages for Claude.
I brought the tea over to her, "Take a sip." She nodded, took it from me and drank as much as she could. I took the cup from her and put it on a coaster. After that, Cassie pushed me a little so she could lay on me. Her headaches were bad. She told me it felt as if someone was stabbing her in the eyes.
I was playing with her hair as she mumbled, "I've heard most people die from it in five years."
"Stop watching that stuff," I kissed her head, "you're not most people... you'll be fine."
"You know I was born with a bad immune system... then add on the abuse my mother gave me as a kid," she coughed, "who knows how long I have."
"You have at least another hundred year," I muttered, feeling her chuckle. She hugged me tighter, taking a deep breath.
"Ani?" She called, making me stop.
She called me Ani.
"Yes?" I rubbed her back.
"Let's move in together again," she said, looking up at me with her gorgeous blue eyes.
I smiled at her and nodded, "I'll get the stuff over here... you don't worry about it."
She nodded, snuggling into me, "I'm not letting you do everything because I'm becoming dependent on you again... I'm letting you do it because I fucking hate moving." We both laughed at that.

It was weird not seeing the twins on the same field. Going to one game one day and another a different day... I was so confused. Cassie loved it. She would shout and scream, even bought a white board to write different things on it. I went and did what I always did, clapped and cheered. Jessika was stronger than ever on the field... she even made it to varsity in her freshmen year. The other girls were taller than her, but one day she'd loom over them. She was fast and smart... she's Cassie and I's daughter.
Jakob was sitting beside us and Genesis beside him. Sonna started coming with us and she'd sit in front. We were that annoying family. We were so into the game that even Jakob would stand up and scream profanities at the ref..
"Can you get me nachos?" Cassie asked, giving me the puppy dog look.
"Sure, I'll be back," I kissed her forehead and headed over to the stand. As I waited in line, I scrolled through my phone. Nothing interesting on the news, from work, or on social media.... what was technology for if everything was boring?
"Antonia?" I looked over to see this woman standing beside me. She was tall... like super tall. She had black hair that was wrapped up in a bun and was wearing a Chili Peppers shirt with black ripped jeans. I squinted at her, but suddenly I saw who it was.
"Victoria?" I muttered.
She asked, "What are you doing at my daughter's soccer game?"
"Your daughter's what?" I asked.
She pointed to the visitor section, "My daughter, Jamie, she goes to NHS... do you have kids?"
I was flabbergasted... Victoria had kids? What the fuck? "Yeah... my daughter goes to this school... the one your daughter is competing against," I said, feeling awkward.
"Excuse me?" Th kid behind me interrupted, "The line moved up."
"Oh, sorry," I said and caught up. Victoria followed me, she seemed utterly shocked. I rubbed my neck, "So you have a daughter... congrats."
"You two," she said, "what age?"
"Fourteen... a freshmen," I said.
"She's a freshmen on varsity?" She asked, "Impressive. My daughter is a senior."
"That's great," I said, "well... when did you have her?"
"Twenty," she said, "my husband and I had her our junior year."
"Husband?" I asked, "You married a man?"
"Yep," she nodded, "I'm not lesbian... I'm into everyone." I nodded my head... utterly confused.
Soon it was my turn and I quickly ordered, "One hotdog with ketchup... no mustard." I turned back to look at her and she was feeling pretty awkward as well.
"Who did you have kids with?" She asked, "Cassidy?"
I nodded, "Yeah... we adopted."
"That's great," she said, "good to know that she's doing good."
"Thanks," I said. I mean the last time Victoria saw Cassidy or heard about her... she was in a comma for her attempt.
"It's funny seeing you all... it was just last year when some guy came asking about you two in high school," she laughed.
"What?" I asked.
"Yeah, some guy who worked with an employee of yours... what was her name... Jen or something. He came over asking about you and Cassidy's relationship," she shrugged, "they said they were making a book for you two."
I stared at her, shocked. When I saw Jennifer last she did tell me a bunch of stuff about Cassie... so she really did go looking. "Ma'am?" I looked over to see the girl holding out the hotdog.
"Thank you," I said and took it. Glancing at Victoria one last time, I said, "Well... I hope your daughter feels okay after tonight's game because my daughter is going to kick her ass." Victoria just laughed as I walked back to Cassie.
~
"I'm so proud of her," Cassie said, sitting on the bed thinking about Jessika's game, "to think... this is her eighth win!"
"She played great," I kissed her cheek and changed real quick. As I was pulling on my night shirt, I heard Cassie get up from the bed, "What's wrong?"
"I have a nephew," Cassie said suddenly. I stared at her as she opened a drawer and handed me a journal, "When we were separated and I was handling my issues for that month... I found out Elijah got his girlfriend at the time pregnant... I have a nephew. His name is Elijah too."
I took the journal and read it, smiling. So this is where Cassie learned to journal her feelings. Looking at her, I asked, "Why are you telling me this?"
"I want to invite him and his mother over... I want to have my entire family in one room," she said, giving me the biggest smile. I just stared at her, totally amazed by that gorgeous smile. I don't know how long I have with her, but I know every second isn't wasted.
