Gerald had loved Lydia for years—long enough to read her like an open book. The moment their eyes met, he knew she was lying. His grip tightened as he turned to his assistant with icy command: "Pull the hotel security footage. Now."
Lydia's pulse raced with panic, her eyes flashing with bitter resentment. Was he seriously investigating her over that worthless woman? That walking womb whose only value was popping out babies?
She plastered on a smile, clinging to his arm. "Gerald, darling, this is our wedding day. Don't let some nobody ruin it, okay?" Her voice dripped honey. "She's beneath you. I saw dozens like her overseas—gold-diggers who'd sell their souls for a designer handbag. She doesn't love you—just your bank account."
But Gerald remained stone-faced, staring at the woman before him. The poised society princess he'd adored now reeked of venom and desperation. A cold truth settled in his gut—had he really wasted years worshipping this monster?
One fact remained undeniable: Jenny's baby died because of Lydia, who showed zero remorse. Only malice. Yet Jenny... she'd never demanded a cent, a title, not even the wedding ring she deserved. When he'd lied about marrying Lydia to please his mother, she'd known the truth but never protested.
The assistant returned with a tablet. Gerald watched the footage in mounting horror, his expression darkening to storm clouds. When it ended, his rage was so palpable the air itself seemed to tremble.
He flung Lydia to the floor like garbage. "You disgust me," he spat, voice like shattering ice. "We're done."
Lydia's perfect makeup streaked with tears as she scrambled on her knees. "Gerald, no! You've waited years for this! Is this about that slut Jenny? What's she got that I can't give you? I'll bear your children too!"
"Shut up." He kicked her away, voice deathly calm. "You love me? Then why did you lap up every diamond and designer dress I bought you? You gorged yourself on my money and status." His voice broke. "I sent you... Jenny's unborn children... like lab specimens... to make you happy."
His next words came razor-sharp: "Why show her those videos? Why torture her? You knew her body couldn't take another abortion!"
Lydia recoiled but quickly rallied. "She's manipulating you! I was just—"
"Jenny never asked for anything," Gerald cut in. "She stayed by my side when you wouldn't give me the time of day. The only pathetic one here is you." Final verdict delivered: "Wedding's off."
The crowd erupted in gasps. Before Gerald could leave, his mother blocked him. "Where do you think you're going?" she sneered. "Over some dead nobody? Good riddance—saves us the trouble of dealing with her bastard spawn."
Her ultimatum cracked like a whip: "Finish this wedding. Or you're no son of mine."
