Raelynn thought for a moment, then finally nodded. "All right. Let's go now."
She was missing Margot anyway.
Now that Margot knew about her current situation, there was no more need to hide the truth. The only reason she'd borrowed clothes from Julia before was to keep Margot from seeing the bruises on her body.
But now...
She was sure Margot already knew. So what was there to hide anymore?
With that, she followed Esther once again to Embergrace House.
Inside Embergrace House
Because of illness, Margot's body had grown weak and sensitive to cold. The room was blazing warm from a roaring brazier in the corner.
Raelynn had come in from the snow and wind, but the moment she stepped through the door, the heat hit her like a wave. Her cheeks turned rosy almost instantly.
Fortunately, Margot's condition had stabilized. Her spirits had lifted, and she looked much better than before.
As soon as she spotted Raelynn, her face lit up with joy. "Raelynn! Come here!"
"Grandmother!"
Raelynn's eyes widened in surprise—Margot looked nothing like the frail, weary woman from earlier.
She quickly pulled off her cloak, handed it to the maid Doreen Ibarra, and ran straight into Margot's arms.
"How are you feeling?" she asked, tilting her face up with concern.
Margot smiled so wide her eyes disappeared into the creases of joy. "Much better. That Edgar truly lives up to his reputation—he's like a divine doctor!
"Just one pill and a bowl of his medicine, and I already feel clearer in the head, sharper in the ears, and even my breathing's easier."
"That's wonderful news!" Raelynn exclaimed. "If it means you'll fully recover, I'd gladly go through every hardship, just to make sure you live a long and healthy life!"
"You silly girl. I know how much you care."
Margot laughed, full of affection, her spirits visibly lifted.
Even the dull pallor on her face had been replaced with a faint healthy glow.
Raelynn, seated so close, noticed it immediately—and felt a wave of happiness herself.
If it hadn't been for Margot, she never would've returned to this cold and indifferent household.
But in this moment, she was truly glad she had.
Otherwise...
She couldn't bear the thought of Margot suffering alone, worn down by illness and sadness.
As the two of them chatted and laughed, Doreen entered and announced, "Lady Margot, Maryellen from Lumen Closet has arrived."
"Oh, wonderful! Let her in quickly!" Margot said, clearly delighted.
"Yes."
A moment later, Doreen returned, leading in a poised, elegant woman.
Margot turned to Raelynn, her gaze soft. "You've grown since you left. Your figure's changed too. I asked Maryellen to make you a few new dresses. You're engaged to Lord Shawn now—you'll need to look your best.
"Now that you're back in Hazond City, people will start seeing you again. And with the Ice Party coming up in two weeks, all the young ladies and gentlemen will be there. You should go and enjoy yourself too."
At the mention of going out in public, Raelynn's smile faltered for just a second.
But when she saw the eager light in Margot's eyes, the words of refusal caught in her throat.
In the end, she could only nod. "Of course, Grandmother."
That was all Margot needed to hear—her smile widened with satisfaction.
And Raelynn felt it was worth it.
She had come back for Margot. That alone made everything worthwhile.
Even Edgar had said she was the key to Margot's recovery.
If it meant helping her get better, she would never say no to her.
Maryellen bowed and got to work, measuring Raelynn's figure and asking about her favorite styles and colors before taking her leave.
Throughout the whole process, Margot never took her eyes off Raelynn.
To her, there was no sight more beautiful than Raelynn. She simply couldn't look away.
Raelynn stayed at her side patiently, determined to make up for the four years they had been apart.
Although Margot was clearly doing better, years of illness had left her body worn down. She soon grew tired.
After helping Margot lie down and get settled, Raelynn finally returned to Lunebloom Hollow on her own.
It was only then that she noticed something odd. Although Cecilia had left with her own servants, she'd still left behind a few unfamiliar faces.
As soon as they saw Raelynn, the newcomers hurried forward and bowed.
"Lady Raelynn."
