Raelynn wanted to accumulate blessings for Margot—to protect her, ensure her health and happiness, and give her a long, peaceful life.
Now, she believed in only one thing: Fate was shaped by my own hands, and blessings were earned, not begged for.
She had barely finished speaking when Edgar, who had been calmly jotting down a prescription, suddenly looked up.
His eyes were bright, filled with excitement as he stared at Raelynn.
"Young lady, with a heart as kind as yours, you were born to practice medicine and save lives. Why don't you become my disciple? I'll pass down every bit of my knowledge to you—everything, just to you!"
He tossed the paper aside and eagerly reached for her hand, as if ready to accept her as his student on the spot.
Margot lit up with joy.
If Raelynn could take someone like Edgar as her master, it would mean another capable person on her side—someone who could protect her in the future.
But Raelynn was clearly torn between laughter and disbelief.
She couldn't help but suspect this so-called apprenticeship offer was just an excuse to mess with Shawn.
"Edgar, if I call you Master, but Lord Shawn is your junior... wouldn't that make things a little awkward?"
"What's awkward about it?"
Edgar waved a hand dismissively. "You each have your own titles—it's perfectly simple!"
Raelynn shook her head quickly. "I don't think so!"
She could already picture Shawn's usual calm, unreadable face turning just a shade colder if he found out his seniority had been bumped down because of her.
She didn't have high hopes for their marriage, but still—he was someone she'd have to live with.
Best not to make things any more uncomfortable than they had to be.
Seeing her firmly refuse, Edgar looked visibly disappointed.
At that moment, Margot suddenly picked up on a rather startling detail.
"Edgar... Lord Shawn is your junior?"
Edgar nodded. "Yes. I happened to be here the day he came to propose. That's when I realized this young lady is soon to become his wife."
Margot clapped her hands with delight. "Then it must be fate!"
Edgar looked at Raelynn with genuine fondness.
"She has a good heart, just like Shiny. I think they'll make a wonderful couple."
Margot's smile grew even brighter upon hearing that.
With Edgar's help, Raelynn now felt much more confident about the charity work she had planned.
The moment she returned to Lunebloom Hollow, she instructed Sienna to pawn off some of the jewelry Cecilia had given her. With the funds, she bought large quantities of food.
Three days later, just outside the city gates at the Reformed Church, a food station and free medical clinic were set up.
Word spread like wildfire among the city's poor.
By midday, crowds had already gathered in front of the church—people lining up for food and medicine, beggars and villagers alike.
In no time, the Lennox family's reputation soared.
Even Hugo, upon returning from court, was surprised by the sudden praise from his fellow officials.
Once he got home and learned it was all Raelynn's doing, he offered a rare compliment.
"At least she knows how to bring the Lennox family some credit. Guess raising her wasn't a complete waste."
Meanwhile, when Julia heard about it from Vania, she didn't lose her temper—instead, she seemed oddly pleased.
Time passed quickly, and before long, the charity work wrapped up.
Edgar took his leave and returned to Mount Darost.
Raelynn had the food station and medical tents cleaned and packed up, then returned to the Duke's estate to check in with Margot.
She'd been so busy lately that Margot had barely gotten to see her.
Now that she was finally home, Margot pulled her close and looked her up and down.
Only after confirming that she hadn't lost any weight did she finally relax.
"You've just gotten back and barely had time to rest. If you'd lost even a little weight, I don't know how my heart could take it."
"Don't worry, Grandmother. I'm taking care of myself," Raelynn said sweetly, resting her head on Margot's shoulder.
Just then, Esther stepped in. "Lady Margot, Lady Raelynn—Maryellen is here."
Margot immediately sat up straighter and turned to Raelynn. "Tomorrow is the Ice Party, and the dress we commissioned from Maryellen arrived just in time. Quick, let her in so she can help you try it on."
"Yes," Esther responded and left to bring her in.
