“Alessia, where did you disappear to for two days?” Alysa asked, her sharp amber eyes narrowing as she crossed her arms over her chest. She had been waiting for her brother to return, and now that he was finally home, she wasn’t about to let him off the hook.
Alessia blinked, his cheeks flushing slightly as he avoided her gaze. “Drake said he told you I’d be sleeping at his place,” he replied, his voice soft but defensive.
Alysa studied her brother closely, her keen eyes taking in every detail. Alessia looked… different. His skin was glowing, his cheeks flushed with a healthy radiance, and there was a lightness to his movements that hadn’t been there before. He looked happy—truly happy.
“Did you drink his blood?” Alysa asked, her tone suddenly excited as she leaned in closer, her curiosity getting the better of her.
Alessia’s blush deepened, his green eyes flicking away as memories of the past two days flooded his mind. The warmth of Drake’s body, the taste of his blood, the way they had been inseparable—it all came rushing back, leaving him momentarily speechless.
“Yeah,” he admitted finally, his voice barely above a whisper.
Alysa’s eyes widened, and she let out a delighted squeal. “Oh my God, you’re finally an adult!” she exclaimed, clapping her hands together. “I’m so proud of you!”
Alessia groaned, burying his face in his hands. “Alysa, stop,” he muttered, his voice muffled.
Before Alysa could continue her teasing, Drake walked into the room, his tall frame filling the doorway. “Ah, sorry to interrupt you guys,” he said, his tone light but firm, “but I’m taking my boyfriend with me.”
Alysa’s head snapped up, her expression shifting from excitement to disbelief. “What do you mean, taking him with you?” she asked, her voice rising slightly. “You spent two full days with him!”
Drake shrugged, a small, smug smile playing on his lips. “Yeah, but my baby promised my mother they’d hang out for the weekend until she and my dad go back to their business trips.”
Alysa groaned, throwing her hands up in frustration. “But I’m lonely at home!” she complained, her tone dramatic.
Drake chuckled, clearly enjoying her reaction. “Go to Dylan’s party,” he suggested, his tone teasing. “But me and my boyfriend are leaving. We’re going shopping with Mom.”
Alysa glared at him, but there was no real heat behind it. She knew she couldn’t win this argument. “Fine,” she said, her tone resigned. “But you owe me, Drake.”
Drake grinned, his arm slipping around Alessia’s waist as he pulled him closer. “Deal,” he said, his voice warm. “Ready to go, baby?”
Alessia nodded, his earlier embarrassment fading as he leaned into Drake’s touch. “Yeah,” he said softly, his green eyes shining with affection.
With that, Drake led Alessia out of the house, leaving Alysa standing in the doorway, her arms crossed and a small smile playing on her lips. Despite her complaints, she was happy for her brother. He had found someone who truly cared about him, and that was all that mattered.
The shopping trip had been nothing short of magical. Marie had taken Alessia to all her favorite stores, her enthusiasm infectious as she picked out shoes, clothes, and jewelry for him. Every time Alessia hesitated, Marie would wave him off with a smile, insisting that he try something on or that a particular piece “was made for him.” By the time they were done, Alessia felt like he had stepped out of a fashion magazine, his arms laden with bags and his heart full of gratitude.
Now, they sat in Marie’s favorite restaurant, the soft hum of conversation and the clinking of glasses creating a cozy atmosphere. The afternoon sunlight streamed through the windows, casting a warm glow over the table as they enjoyed their meal.
“So,” Marie said, her tone casual but her eyes sharp with curiosity, “Drake said he loves you.”
Alessia nearly choked on his drink, his cheeks flushing a deep red as he set his glass down. He looked up at Marie, his green eyes wide with surprise and a hint of shyness. “Yes,” he admitted softly, his voice trembling slightly. “But I also love him… so much.”
The words came out in a rush, and as soon as they did, Alessia’s face turned even redder. But there was no hiding the stars in his eyes, the way they sparkled with affection whenever he spoke about Drake.
Marie smiled, her expression warm and understanding. “That’s great,” she said, her voice filled with genuine happiness. “My son has always had a lack of interest in almost everyone. I sometimes got worried, but now… not anymore.”
Alessia’s heart swelled at her words, his shyness giving way to a soft, grateful smile. He had been nervous about meeting Drake’s parents, but Marie’s kindness and acceptance had put him completely at ease.
“I really wanted to spend a full day with you, getting to know you better,” Marie continued, her tone tinged with regret. “But unfortunately, it won’t be possible. My husband and I will be leaving this evening.”
Alessia’s smile faltered slightly, but he nodded, understanding. “That’s why Drake didn’t come with us,” he said, his voice soft. “He’s helping his father pack your things, right?”
Marie nodded, her expression softening. “Yes,” she said. “But I’m so glad we had this time together, even if it was short. You’re a wonderful person, Alessia, and I can see why Drake loves you so much.”
Alessia’s cheeks flushed again, but this time, there was no hiding the happiness in his eyes. “Thank you,” he said, his voice barely above a whisper. “That means a lot to me.”
Marie reached across the table, gently squeezing Alessia’s hand. “Take care of him, okay?” she said, her tone light but filled with meaning. “And take care of yourself too.”
Alessia nodded, his heart swelling with affection. “I will,” he promised, his voice steady and sincere.
As they finished their meal, the conversation shifted to lighter topics, but the warmth and connection between them remained. By the time they left the restaurant, Alessia felt like he had gained not just a boyfriend’s mother, but a friend.
