Alessia, Drake wants to talk to you," Alysa called from downstairs, her voice firm but tinged with concern. She had been watching her brother suffer for days, his stubbornness only adding to his pain. Both he and Drake were hurting, but Alessia, with his fragile heart and fierce pride, was refusing to budge.
Reluctantly, Alessia dragged himself out of bed, his movements slow and heavy. He hadn't been sleeping well, and it showed. Dark circles shadowed his eyes, his face was streaked with dried tears, and his nose was red from crying. He looked like a shadow of his usual self, his once-radiant glow dimmed by heartbreak.
When he reached the bottom of the stairs, Drake was waiting for him. The taller boy's expression softened the moment he saw Alessia, his heart aching at the sight of his mate looking so broken.
"Oh, my baby," Drake said, his voice thick with emotion. He crossed the room in a few quick strides and pulled Alessia into a tight hug, his arms wrapping around the smaller boy as if he could shield him from the world.
Alessia stiffened at first, his body tense with unresolved anger and pain. But the warmth of Drake's embrace was too much to resist. Slowly, he relaxed, his hands clutching at the back of Drake's shirt as he buried his face in his chest.
"I'm leaving tomorrow," Alessia said, his voice muffled against Drake's shirt. The words hurt to say, but he knew he had to accept it. He had to understand Drake's perspective, even if it broke his heart.
"Maybe... maybe we'll visit each other," Alessia added, his voice trembling as a single tear slipped down his cheek. He pulled back slightly, his green eyes glistening with unshed tears as he looked up at Drake. "I understand. You have a life here. And you've loved me just the way I am. You didn't reject me when you found out what I am. You didn't hate me when I asked for your blood."
His voice broke, and he began to cry in earnest, his body shaking with sobs. "Maybe... maybe it's my turn to... to understand," he said, his words coming out in hiccups as he cried harder. He looked so pitiful, so utterly wronged, that Drake's heart ached.
"Baby, stop crying," Drake said, his voice soft but firm. He cupped Alessia's face in his hands, his thumbs brushing away the tears. "I've decided. I'll go with you."
Alessia froze, his tear-filled eyes widening in disbelief. "What?" he whispered, his voice barely audible.
"I talked to my mom and dad last night," Drake explained, his tone gentle but steady. "They said if I want to go with you, it's okay. They'll visit me there. And I don't have any family here, so... it's okay if I go with you."
Alessia's breath hitched, his heart swelling with a mix of relief and overwhelming joy. He let out a choked sob, his arms tightening around Drake as he buried his face in his chest again. This time, his tears were bittersweet-tears of happiness, of gratitude, of love.
"Really?" Alessia asked, his voice trembling as he looked up at Drake again. "You're really coming with me?"
Drake smiled, his eyes soft with affection as he nodded. "Really," he said, his voice warm and reassuring. "I'm not letting you go, Alessia. Not now, not ever."
Alessia cried harder, his body shaking with the intensity of his emotions. He clung to Drake as if he were afraid he might disappear, his tears soaking into Drake's shirt. But for the first time in days, his heart felt light. He wasn't losing Drake. They were going to be together.
Alysa watched from the doorway, a small smile playing on her lips. She had been worried about her brother, but now, seeing him so overjoyed, she knew everything would be okay. Drake had made the right choice, and Alessia's heart was finally whole again.
The next morning, Alessia and Drake woke up early, the soft light of dawn filtering through the curtains as they began their final preparations. The room was a flurry of activity, suitcases open on the floor, clothes folded neatly, and last-minute items being checked off a list. They moved around each other with practiced ease, their movements synchronized as they made sure everything they needed was packed.
The plane was scheduled for the evening, giving them time to say their goodbyes. For Drake, this meant meeting up with his closest friends-Jamie, Dylan, and Ryan. The four of them had been inseparable for years, and the news of Drake's relocation to Russia hit them hard.
They met at their favorite café, the atmosphere heavy with unspoken emotions. Jamie was the first to speak, her voice trembling slightly as she tried to keep her composure. "Russia, huh?" she said, forcing a smile. "That's... a big move."
Dylan leaned back in his chair, his usual smirk replaced by a somber expression. "I can't believe you're really leaving, man," he said, his tone a mix of disbelief and sadness.
Ryan, ever the quiet one, simply nodded, his eyes downcast as he stirred his coffee. "We're gonna miss you," he said finally, his voice soft but sincere.
Drake sighed, his heart heavy as he looked at his friends. "I'm gonna miss you guys too," he said, his voice thick with emotion. "But this is something I have to do. Alessia... he's... Everything. I can't let him go."
Jamie nodded, her eyes glistening with unshed tears. "We get it," she said, her voice breaking slightly. "Just... promise you'll keep in touch, okay?"
Drake smiled, reaching out to squeeze her hand. "I promise," he said, his tone warm and reassuring. "You're not getting rid of me that easily."
The rest of the afternoon was spent reminiscing, sharing stories, and making plans to stay connected. By the time they parted ways, the mood was lighter, but the sadness lingered, a quiet reminder of the bond they shared.
In the evening, Alysa ,Alessia and Drake arrived at the airport, their suitcases in tow. The terminal was bustling with activity, the sound of announcements and the hum of conversations filling the air. They checked in their luggage and made their way to the gate, their hands intertwined.
As they boarded the plane, Alessia couldn't help but feel a mix of excitement and nervousness. This was it-the start of a new chapter in their lives. He glanced at Drake, who gave him a reassuring smile, his hand squeezing Alessia's gently.
The flight was long, the hours stretching on as they crossed time zones and continents. Alessia spent most of the time curled up against Drake, his head resting on his shoulder as he drifted in and out of sleep. Drake, meanwhile, alternated between watching movies and staring out the window, his mind racing with thoughts of what lay ahead.
But despite the uncertainty, there was a sense of peace between them. They were together, and that was all that mattered. As the plane soared through the night sky, Alessia and Drake held onto each other, their hearts full of hope for the future.
