I was too drained to speak, so I pushed myself up to head to the bathroom.
As I walked past Liam Sinclair, his hand shot out and clamped around my wrist. His grip was crushing, like he wanted to snap my bones. The sharp pain snapped me out of my fog.
"Where are you going?"
"To the restroom."
"I'm coming with you," he announced, rising to his feet.
I blinked at him, stunned. "What?"
Liam’s temper ignited in an instant.
"What? Don’t want me seeing the marks some other guy left on your thighs?"
My face went white. "Wh-what are you—?"
Before I could finish, he shoved me onto the couch, yanked down my pants, and jabbed his finger at a fresh love bite.
"Explain this. And don’t even try saying you did it yourself."
My mind blanked. Panic surged through me, turning my thoughts to static. I hadn’t expected this secret to surface—not like this.
My silence only made him angrier. His eyes burned with betrayal.
"You never let me touch you there, but you let some random guy mark you up?!"
He snatched a bottle of alcohol and scrubbed at the bruise like he could erase it.
"No, it’s not what you think—" Tears spilled over, hot and fast. If I didn’t speak now, I’d lose him for good. "He... he forced me."
Liam went rigid. "What?"
I bit my lip, shame strangling my voice.
After a long pause, his expression softened. He exhaled roughly. "Go to the bathroom first. We’ll talk when you get back. I’ll be here."
Grateful for the reprieve, I nodded and stumbled toward the restroom.
When I returned, I couldn’t bring myself to look at him. My fingers twisted in my lap, tears dripping onto my knees.
Then Liam pulled me into his arms.
"It’s okay. We’ll figure this out together. Just tell me everything."
His calm voice steadied me. In broken whispers, I confessed what happened at the hospital.
Shock and fury flashed across his face.
"That sick bastard!"
He wiped my tears away. "Listen, I might be a perfectionist, but to me? You’re already perfect. You don’t need to change a damn thing."
His words shattered me. I buried my face in his chest, sobbing. "I was so out of it... I couldn’t stop him—"
Liam’s jaw tightened. "He drugged you. That water was spiked. We’re calling the cops. They’ll lock him up."
"But he has cameras."
"If we move fast, we can destroy the footage before it leaks. And those hidden cameras? They’ll bury him."
Relief flooded through me. "Okay. I trust you."
But before we could dial 911, my vision swam.
The last thing I heard was Liam screaming for an ambulance as everything went black.
