ALASTOR MORNINGSTAR
I lean on the city hall back wall, waiting for Apollo to come out. Either in handcuffs or a beautiful smile. The smoke releases from my lips as I relieve a sigh. Stomping on the finished bud.
My golden sunshine steps out a few seconds later, a prideful smile decorating his face.
"I did it! God you should've seen me in there! I kept spitting out facts on how I could and am helping the city... and the fire department, the police department, hell even some nurses and doctors were on my side. Apparently I get people to the hospital a lot faster so they can save more patients. The mayor looked so grumpy but as time went on you could just see the fight in her eyes diminishing. It was amazing." His arms go around my neck as he pulls me in a hug. I practically hear him smiling against my leather jacket.
"Glad you're happy, Darling." I press a kiss on his head. My hand grabbing a firm hold of his as I drag him through different crossways and streets.
After a few beats of following me mindlessly he voices his brewing curiosity "where are we going exactly?"
"A new Venezuelan place, you'll love it."
"I already ate before I went in, I'm not hungry..."
"No you didn't and don't try to lie to me either because the tips of your ears will get red. Not that I need to look back at you to know that you're lying considering I have cameras all over your apartment." I shrug unapologetically. Stopping as we wait for the white walking man to light up.
His jaw practically sweeps the floor when I look back at him.
"Everything okay?" I ask, the back of my hand caressing his cheek.
"You have cameras installed in my apartment?"
"Yup. Got them in the minute I bought it for you."
"Speaking of uhm money... I'm looking for job applications so I can pay you back."
What the fuck?
What the fuck-
What the fuck?
"Darling, are you feeling a bit unwell?" I ask, furrowed eyebrows in confusion.
"N-no... I just think it's about time I start working on paying you back.."
Paying me back?
What the fuck?
What the fuck?
Huh?
"Baby your smile is payment enough. Not that I need any at all. If you want to get a job you can and I believe in you... however if you're just gonna get one to pay me back you can forget about it."
"Wh-what? Why? Alastor I want to work for it. You've-"
My lips land on his as my hand pushes his head forward, deepening the kiss. I pull back once I feel him melt in my arms. "You don't need to pay me back, I'm not allowing you pay me back. I chose to buy an apartment for you, I chose to pay your bills, buy your necessities and luxuries, and cook for you all on my own free will. I don't need the money back- hell I don't even care for it. If anything I was considering buying you a bigger house."
"But-"
A glare from me stops his protest short, leaving the argument with a sigh.
His eyes take sight of the new Venezuelan place that just opened up. Shining in happiness and excitement.
I walk past the front desk lady, her sending me an acknowledged wink. We sit down on a table for two next to a window as I hand him a menu.
"So what do you want-"
"Hello how can I help you today?" Isabella comes with a bright smile.
"I-Isa? You work here? This place is great-"
"Not only do I work here... but I founded the place." She interrupts Apollo for the second time.
"Really? God that's amazing. Everything looks amazing!" He says enthusiastically, projecting his endearment.
"Yup! I mean Alastor paid for it but the rest was all me!"
"That's reminds me you owe me five bucks." I click my tongue.
"For what?" She scoffs.
"The chips." I point out with a raised eyebrow.
"No because after that I bought us ice cream." She defends.
"And after that you wanted more chips" I remind her.
"Yeah and after that i bought you chocolate!"
"And after that you said that you needed even more chips because of Damien."
"I- oh...I did....ugh fine." She rolls her eyes, shaking her head in disbelief, muttering curse words as she pulls out a wallet and hands me a five dollar bill.
"Thanks little sis." I say with an egoistic smile.
She leaves with a glare directed slowly to me, making her way to greet for customers.
Apollo turns to me in shock.
"You might wanna close your mouth, Darling. Or else my sister will find a way to force feed you every option on the 4 sectioned menu."
"Your very sexist." He mutters going back to checking the menu out.
I raise an eyebrow, amused by his declaration. "Oh yeah? And his is that."
"You're not letting me pay you back for an apartment yet you forced your sister to give you five dollars." He huffs, clearly thinking my actions unfair.
"Well A, she's my sister. Which automatically entails she has to pay me back for a French fry if she took one of mine. And B, I legitimately paid for her dream restaurant...wanna take back your proclamation, Darling?" I explain with a smirk.
He blushes looking down in surrender. Forcing me to remember that barely two months ago we were sworn enemies.
Separated by unoriginal disputes and conflicts.
"Apollo."
"Alastor..?"
"Will you marry me?"
"Don't I get a ring?"
He jokes.
I don't. I pull out a ring, it doesn't have a centered diamond. Instead it's a gold ring with intricate designs as well as small diamonds surrounding it.
"Yes you do."
He gulps, looking at it with apprehension, yet admits the hesitation I notice the excitement and over all joy setting behind his eyes. "And aren't you supposed to be down on one knee?"
"Tonight I'll be down on both."
His eyes flash up to mine, cheeks ablaze in red, wide blues, parted lips, and a gorgeous smile exploding.
"Atleast give me a speech."
I raise my eyebrow, making sure he knows what he's about to get himself into.
He nods, waiting and expecting a half assed speech.
Well fuck that.
I grab the microphone hidden next to the window, standing up on my chair as I recall everybody's attention. Dismissing Apollo's pleads for my discretion.
"Of I may have your attention! I am on a date with my boyfriend! Most of you might know him, his name is Apollo Chevalier." I few cheers interrupt. "Anyhow, I have a little speech prepared. To my dearest Apollo;" I turn my attention back to him, thriving in his embarrassment and flustered state. "You have taught me how to love. How to breathe without inhaling all the toxicity this city has given me. How to live without a constant worry in the back of my head. My heart has always been able to beat. Yet you make it break into song. My feet has always been able to walk. Yet you make me sprint. And my mind. Always vigilant and watchful. Cautious of my surroundings. You've given if the option to rest. I thank you for all the gifts you've given me. All the happiness you've brought to my dull life. And as proof of my gratitude. I beg for your hand in marriage."
The crowd explodes in utter silence. Waiting on the edge of there seats for his answer. Although they may have some doubts, I don't. He loves me. Almost as much as I do him. "Yes!"
The people explode in cheers and applaud, congratulations shouting at every corner. I step down from my make shift stage. Dragging Apollo off his ass from his collar and pressing my lips against his.
A smile overtakes my face.
We're stuck together. Glued by the brightest feeling in the world named love.
