ALASTOR MORNINGSTAR
Apollo cried in my chest for almost an hour before he fell asleep on the couch. I draped my suit jacket over his body, taking off his shoes for him and lightly massaging his feet before laying them on the couch.
The phone rings as I wait for him to answer, standing up and leaning on my desk, facing Apollo who looks like a peaceful angel when in deep sleep. The usual worried lines on his forehead, serious expression, tense shoulders are all gone. It's just him. Dreaming of a sort of paradise.
"Dad?"
"Yeah?"
"I- I'm confused. And scared. And I ca-can't...I can't-...."
He stays quiet for a moment. "You're in love. And it's normal to feel confused and scared and angry and sad and protective. But right now you need to be there for him and make sure he's gonna be there for you." A beat passes. "Can you do that?"
"Yeah...Dad one more thing?"
"Mhm"
"Can we have a family game night?"
He stays quiet. "What happened?"
"Nothing..."
"Alastor you only ask for family nights when you need a reminder of what you have and what you're fighting for...the reason I know is because I was you. So what happened."
"Something with Apollo... just made me realize how lucky I was."
"Isabella's gonna flip when she finds out you said you were lucky to have her."
"I feel like you're twisting my words... love you dad."
"Love you T."
T for Trouble. I was the OG. Then he started calling Damian that.
"Oh and dad?"
"Mhm"
"He's gonna be there too."
"Wasn't expecting anything less."
"Good."
Just because his family sucks doesn't mean I can't bring him into a love filled one.
He needs to experience love and joy.
He needs to experience fighting with your siblings and the one time you're not, getting annoyed at your parents for scolding you for fighting.
He needs to experience mom and Damian plotting against us all as me, isa and dad fight for first place.
He needs the love and care he's been missing his whole life.
And even if I don't deserve him. He definitely deserves this.
