Dominic glanced at me awkwardly, trying to negotiate with her. "Vanessa, don't be like that. We have plenty of staff here—let them do it. Or better yet, I can help you myself, okay?"
Vanessa pouted, her gaze suggestively sweeping over Dominic's crotch as she purred, "But you're already so exhausted from today."
Dominic's breath hitched. He turned to me with a commanding tone. "Isabelle, she's pregnant and needs help. You do it."
I clenched my fists so tight my nails dug into my palms.
Just as I picked up the towel, she suddenly swayed and let out a piercing scream. "What are you trying to do to me?!"
Dominic shoved me away violently. My forehead slammed hard against the corner of the table. The nearby vase crashed to the floor, sharp ceramic shards cutting into my skin as blood immediately began streaming down.
"She was trying to kill my baby!" Vanessa sobbed accusingly.
I frantically shook my head. "I didn't! I didn't do anything!"
At the hospital, nurses and doctors bustled around Vanessa, attending to her every need.
Mrs. Harlow burst in and slapped me hard across the face. "Can't have your own kids, so now you're trying to kill our heir?"
Dominic stepped between us. "Mom, don't do this."
Mrs. Harlow was furious. "This is all your fault for spoiling her! Letting some woman walk all over you—what's the point of pampering her?!" Her shrill voice drew stares from passersby, some even pulling out their phones to record.
Dominic lowered his voice and looked back at me. "Go home first."
Clutching my bleeding forehead, I'd barely made it to the first floor when everything went black and I collapsed.
A passing nurse rushed me to the emergency room.
When the doctor called Dominic, I could hear the sounds of servants fussing over Vanessa in the background.
"Ms. Snow, have some fruit..."
"Let me massage your shoulders..."
Dominic's voice was ice-cold. "Stay home and think about what you've done. The doctor said she almost had a miscarriage."
I spent three days in the hospital. He never came to see me once.
Meanwhile, Vanessa's social media was flooded with photos of the yacht, mansion, and luxury cars Dominic had bought her. The entire Harlow family treated her like precious cargo.
I stared blankly at the leaves outside my window.
My phone suddenly rang, but it wasn't Dominic.
"Ma'am, about the baby's Welcome Home Party you booked—we guarantee our premium $28,800 package will be perfect..."
I gave a bitter laugh. "Contact Dominic Harlow directly. Don't bother telling me."
The day I was discharged, I took a cab home to the villa.
As soon as I opened the door, I saw Vanessa lounging lazily on the couch while Dominic hand-fed her grapes one by one.
The moment Dominic saw me, he grabbed me and yanked me into the corner, his voice a low warning. "Vanessa's pregnancy is finally stable. Stop causing problems for her, understand?"
"Starting today, she's moving in here."
Vanessa stared at me with pure defiance, smugness written all over her face.
Late that night, Vanessa's room suddenly filled with agonizing screams. When Dominic rushed in, he found her writhing on the floor in pain.
"Help me! It hurts so bad! Save my baby!"
