At the hospital, the doctor confirmed that Vanessa had food poisoning.
From her hospital bed, Vanessa looked at me with tears in her eyes, her voice choked with emotion. "Mrs. Harlow! Why would you do this to me? This is your husband's own child!"
Dominic's eyes instantly turned ice-cold. "Isabelle! You're completely out of line!"
Without giving me a chance to explain, he had me sent directly to a villa in the suburbs.
In the empty mansion, I sat on the floor, my heart breaking into pieces.
Three years of marriage, and I'd never been able to warm his heart. Now I finally understood exactly where I stood.
I texted Dominic: "Let's get divorced."
My phone rang almost instantly. His voice was harsh. "I won't agree to it! How long are you going to keep this tantrum up?"
I said calmly, "Dominic, your heart belongs to someone else, and now you even have a child with her. Divorce would be freedom for both of us."
"Cool down before you say anything else!" He hung up abruptly.
I shook my head with a bitter smile. Years ago, he married me for the Harlow family's reputation.
Now he wouldn't even give me my freedom. I was done with this sham of a marriage.
Three days later, Dominic suddenly showed up at the villa, his tone softer. "Isabelle, it's your birthday today. I've prepared a special celebration for you."
Without waiting for my response, he forcibly pulled me into the car and drove to an upscale private club.
When he pushed open the door to the private room, I was greeted by a dazzling champagne tower and an elaborate eight-tier cake.
His friends all shouted in unison, "Happy birthday, Isabelle!"
Dominic personally placed a birthday hat on my head, his voice gentle but with an underlying warning. "I know things have been rough for you lately, but remember—you'll always be my wife. Stop throwing these tantrums, okay?"
Just then, the door to the private room suddenly swung open. Vanessa walked in gracefully, and everyone's expressions immediately became awkward.
She leaned close to Dominic's ear and whispered in a voice just loud enough for only me to hear:
"I'm not wearing anything... underneath..."
Dominic's face flushed instantly. He hurriedly said to me, "I'll be right back," then followed Vanessa out and never returned.
The guests in the room exchanged uncomfortable glances and began making excuses to leave one by one.
Suddenly, someone pushed me hard from behind. I crashed heavily into the champagne tower. As glass shattered around me, dozens of cuts opened across my arms.
Slumped on the floor, I grabbed a piece of the ruined cake and put it in my mouth.
The cake was sweet. My heart was bitter.
As I stumbled toward the exit, I heard harsh whispers coming from the restroom:
"Isabelle is so pathetic..."
"Dominic just ditched her to go upstairs and bang Vanessa? Looks like they'll be going at it for hours!"
"Even pregnant, she's still that wild? Dominic's got some serious stamina! Quite the player!"
I clutched my chest and fled.
Back at the villa, I packed my bags through the night.
When my tears finally dried up, dawn was breaking. I was dragging my suitcase toward the door when it was suddenly kicked open violently.
Dominic stormed in and slapped me so hard I hit the floor.
"Tell me! Where the hell did you hide Vanessa!"
